    Congratulations on finding and preserving this beautiful machine. Truley a piece of art, and I am sure a prized possession.

    I learned to drive on a '56 Fury. A beautiful car and what a machine! It's nice to see one with the original wheel covers. They are usually replaced because the originals are attached with clips.

    Quite a story and an incredible car! Just look at the ugly cars we drive now compared to the most beautiful cars ever produced from THE 50'S! Thanks for sharing with us.

    Beautiful car I owned one in 1963 and kept it for a few years until my family needed a four door car. I think it is one of the prettiest cars ever made. I tried to locate my but never could. I know you don't want to sell it . But I would be a buyer for it. Thanks

      Thanks for the note. Too many memories that makes it impossible to sell. May happen though- someday.

    Beautiful car. ! I just saw one at a car show last month. ! It was original also. The guy bought it in California in 1960 & has owned it ever since. His was the first one I've ever seen. Yours looks great too. Thanks for sharing this.

      The Golden Finn Society has a registry of all the 56, 57, and 58 Fury’s they are aware of and the status of their build condition ( drivers, under restoration etc.) . They have around 50, 56 Fury’s registered. Interesting reading as they show them by state and mine is the only one still left in Michigan- I believe. Thanks for your comment.

      I don't know why anybody would want to replace the factory correct radio with a foreign-made, non-repairable piece of junk.

    My first full restoration in the early 1980s was a 1956 Fury one of only 3 sold new in San Diego only 16 were sold in the Los Angeles area and I own one of them it was used for my parts car. When I sold the restored car the buyer bought the parts car and restored it too so I got 2 56 Fury back on the road.
    Even in the early 1980s the specialized parts for the 1956 Plymouth Fury were very hard to find. I had the anodizing company that worked for Lockheed aircraft re-anodize the gold side panels it took them several tries to get all the aluminum panels to match.

      I still have a whole set of the anodized side panels in the original shipping crate. The person that restored my car told me to never sell them because I would never find another set. I have 8 extra hubcaps that are in rough shape ( dull) but not sure if that can be refinished as I have 1 hubcap on the car that has some curb “rash”. Any ideas?

    What an amazing story Sir! Take us for a spin in it. I subscribed to your channel just now. I bet they were the fastest cars around with those dual quads! Thanks for the video and story. Make more about it please.

    Even as a kid, I liked 56 Plymouths. Even better than the 55s. The fins make the difference! I did see a few 56 Furys back then!

    The 303 dual quad set up should have exactly the same air cleaners as a 1956 Chrysler 300.

    • @jameslegeret8715
      @jameslegeret8715  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true - I have the Chrysler spec sheet for the dealer install and it shows the corvette air cleaners.

    "Frame-off restoration" and "all original" are two entirely different things. I'm going with restoration. Because NOW, nothing about the car except maybe the frame and sheetmetal is "original"!

    • @jameslegeret8715
      @jameslegeret8715  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a frame off restoration with all original parts cleaned, recromed and repainted and reinstalled.

    In Southern California in the last 35 years I have only seen two 1956 Fury's one had its 303 replaced with a 440. The other I have been searching to find again for decades for one of only three Black Fury race cars built by the factory. I got to inspect and drive one of them around 1982 but all three seem to have now disappeared. According to Chrysler historical the cars were built to compete at Pikes peak but we're never run and no one knows why.

      Thanks for the info. I think there are only about 50 restored 56 Fury’s left out of the 4485 produced. They didn’t survive well in the snow and salt in the Midwest.

    It was probably the first car that had fins in the design. In 1957, 1958 and 1959 they went to the extreme.
