Thanks so much for sharing your adventures. You are helping us keep an eye on our goals. In 2020 we had to say goodbye to our 78 Westfalia and now we are getting a 86 Westfalia ready to do what you are doing and your videos are greatly appreciated.
Nicely done. When invited to join me on trips Mom would always say Yes. Her reasoning, "So that others would not have to tell me about what they saw." More so, as you hinted, she could momentarily let go of her concerns.
Hello. Another great video. Due to health issues in 2023, I was only able to get out twice. Thanks for your videos. I am living vicariously through them. Best wishes to both of you. Take care and happy trails. Chuck in Kentucky
Another great video guys, and inspires me to finish the resto on my T25 and get out and about more this year. Thanks again for the inspiration and all the best from us here in the UK, Simon & Jo👍👍
@ThatBaldwinLife Hi Nate, I appreciate that buddy, we have got the VW Karmann Distance Wide to finish first, but that's nearly there, then we can do some updates to the T25 👍
Thanks! Yes we have Peloquin in the transaxle but just put it in last year. We did a ton of adventures without it. But it does make a difference and I would highly recommend one! nate
Zion was nuts. Beautiful but so crowded so we just took showers at the outfitting store and moved on. Love to go back sometime when it’s not busy (if that time exists 😁) Nate
Fun! Remind me of your suspension setup? I'm sure it's in your back catalog. GoWesty lift? Tire size? How did your shocks hold up to the washboard? I seem to remember that you have a peloquin LSD. Just curious as you cleared those ruts so well. I'm upgrading the suspension on my van right now and I'm looking as a reference point. :-)
During the trip we had Rancho 9000 adjustables on the front and Bilstein 5165’s on the back. We blew the front shocks sometime this trip and we have since replaced them all with the Fox schlock’s from GoWesty. For springs we have GW 1.5” lift springs in back and Moog springs up front. We run a 215/65/16 tire and yes we have a Peloquin LSD. Good luck with the build and thanks for watching! Nate
4:45 - 2nd gear at 4,000 rpm. 30MPH? I am looking to get a Westy soon, but the ones in the location, condition near me are automatics. Will an automatic take a hill like that at roughly the same rpm and speed?
Not sure, I have never driven an automatic Vanagon but I will tell you it will not go faster up the hill with a stock WBX engine. We have a Rocky Jennings 2.2L and Techtonics chip in the ECU in ours. The hill we were on goes from 6K feet to 10K feet in a hurry. It was steep. 4K rpm is no issue for the WBX. nate
Well any 37 year old vehicle will need to be gone over to assure all systems are in good working order. For our Westy, we have gone through all systems over the years and have rebuilt or replaced anything we felt wasn’t working properly. Now this of course won’t prevent a breakdown but we also carry critical spare parts for that situation. I am also my own mechanic and know my van inside and out. But in the end, there might be a situation where we need to walk out to find help. All part of the adventure! Thanks for watching Nate
You can get most replacement parts from RockAuto or FCP Euro. GoWesty is great for specialty parts. Check out Buslab as well. We have a TruckFridge 65 in place of the factory Dometic and it is better in every way. We did a video of the install a while back. Nate

Probably miss the old '78 but sounds like you're going to make new memories in the new Westy! Thanks for watching!

What a great story! Love that your mom would go out on adventures!
Thanks so much for watching.
Nate
That’s a lot of scenery most people will never see.
Yeah but it’s too beautiful to miss!

Thanks Chuck! Hope this year your health allows you to go on more adventures! Happy trials.
Nate
Thanks for continuing to share your western USA adventures.
Thanks for watching!!
Nate
Another inspiring trip thanks you two. Some great drone footage again too.
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the kind words!
nate
Sorry to hear it is the last, but i know how much maintaining a video blog takes. Wishing you and your family all the best.
Not the end of the channel, just this series! We just said goodbye to Utah 😁
Thanks for watching!
Nate
SW is very scenic with things we don't see here in the NW but can be horribly windy. Used to blow my bike around sometimes. Smile often.
Yeah the wind was nuts! Especially in Nevada on the way back!
Thanks for sharing another great story! “…throw out your fears and excuses, and just go.” Very well said!
Appreciate you watching! It was an amazing trip for us and we enjoyed making the series

Hey Simon and Jo! Get that T25 done and get out and explore that beautiful country you have!

Better get busy! 😂
Westie is the best. Tackled that track like a boss. Spectacular views. ❤
Yeah it was a fun track and an even better hot springs!
Nate
Love your videos. We are building a 2WD Vanagon and a was wondering if you have a limited slip differential?
Thanks! Yes we have Peloquin in the transaxle but just put it in last year. We did a ton of adventures without it. But it does make a difference and I would highly recommend one!

@@ThatBaldwinLife thank you. We are in Northern California and I hope our paths cross someday.
We will be at Syncrofest in May!
Nate
Excellent! How do you guys find these awesome camp sites? Love it
Experience and just taking chances on roads. They don’t always work out like that site 😁
Nate
Great series, we were in Zion in March 2023 and was very crowded

Where did you get your rear rack? I want to do something similar!
The rear rack with the Rotopax on it is something I built myself. Didn’t love the offerings out there so I made this.
Thanks!
Nate

I’m excited to hear your review/comparison of the fox shocks. :-)
We’ll give them a workout for sure!

I'm in Mulegé. Where are you guys
On my couch :)

What is the best thing or mods you can do to make these vans reliable? they are so cool but I don't know if I would trust one on remote backroads.

@@ThatBaldwinLife thanks for the quick reply I like looking at Go Westy website but there stuff is very pricy. Do you miss not having a fridge?
