There were many small things that made these performances extra fun and significant such as Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar performing lines that the NFL tried to censor, Snoop Dogg crip walking in his colors against NFL wishes, Mary J Blige incorporating the bad dancing she is known for into the choreography, Eminem kneeling, Anderson Paak on drums, and Dr. Dre’s piano solo of 2Pac’s sound. I wasn’t surprised in the slightest that y’all would love this. Like yourself and many have pointed out, these are artist many of us grew up listening to and Dr. Dre in particular has worked with them and helped to launch newer talents (both Kendrick and Paak are signed on to Dr. Dre’s record label) so this was to acknowledge how significant Dr. Dre has been to hip-hop/rap music, someone also pointed out this is a celebration of Black Culture, the dancers in Kendrick’s performance is a nod to marching bands which HBCUs have transformed into their own spectacular shows whether for or separate from collegiate sports, the crip walking and Snoop Doggs blue bandana outfit a clear reference to the gang culture/dance culture that influenced hip-hop/rap music (and the world over), the low riders another part of Black culture that is very influential to pop culture and car enthusiasts, and even if that wasn’t the obvious message Dr. Dre got notoriety with N.W.A a group that spoke on the Black persons experiences. (To some saying it has nothing to do with Black culture it’s because particularly in America, Black culture IS American culture, most, if not all, of the things deemed cool in western cultures came from Black people)
I grew up listening to all of these songs(besides Kendrik's obviously), so this performance was a nostalgia trip for me. It's cool that music can unite people around the world 🌏🌎🌍

I am born and raised in Los Angeles so this was a show that really represents Los Angeles/west coast hip hop ( since the rappers here aside from 50&eminem, are from LA).
This was one of the best performances! Most of us grew up with these Hip Hop Legends and we were all so happy to see them on stage again! The performance ended too quickly!

Dr. Dre was a phenomenal leader in hiphop, the OG that helped the careers of all of the stars on this platform..he helped produce and introduced many artists for the past 30 years, including Ice Cube and Tu Pac back in the day...so he is the godfather of his record label Death Row Records when hiphop/rap ruled decades up to the newest and youngest, Kendrick Lamar.
I think Dre has done something for every artist that has performed in the Super Bowl. Whether he assigned them to a contract written or produced for them they all came together and did an awesome job And all of them are friends

And Dr. Dre the GOAT in producing beats/music and will always be. This halftime show will go down in history as the best halftime show ever. Before I became a fan of kpop, I am a huge fan of american hiphop since I was 11 and now I'm already 34.
Just some background info and fun facts that may help give perspective to why this moment is so important: Although Dr. Dre did not actually start hip-hop music (early Bronx, New York native rappers from the late 1970s and early 1980s started the style of music), he did help create and produce a style of rap that came out of California which sound nothing like the east coast (New York, sound). NWA (which included Dr. Dre- a producer turned rapper ) was the first recognized west coast rap group which first appeared in the early 1990s. Another fact is that Eminem was not the first white rapper. Vanilla Ice (one of my favorite early 90s rappers) was the first nationally recognized white rapper. "Ice, Ice Baby" is my favorite track from him. Another fact is Mary J. Blige (an R&B singer) released her first album in the early 1990s. She is an R&B singer from New York and is known by fans as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul because her r&b music music had a lot of Hip Hop beat elements which was a new style of rhythm and blues. Another fact ,that no one is talking about, is that the East Coast rappers and West Coast rappers have finally come together to make music. In mid 1990s west coast style of rap was not considered hip-hop music or hip-hop culture. It was considered gansta rap. However now it is considered Hip-Hop (which is a culture not just a style of music). Hip-Hop is a cultural expression that came of pain and struggle. Many rap pioneers and activists have played an important role in making Hip-hop mainstream. Dr. Dre is one of those people. His 35 year span in the music industry has helped shaped a piece of hip-hop music and culture that many appreciate as hip-hopmusic today. Kudos to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Mary J. Blige and 90s music and cheers to 50 cent, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar 2000s music. Helping to bridge the gap between both coast have been his greatest accomplishment Hip-Hop has evolved from not just being a New York style of music but a globally recognized style of music, something that wasn't nationally recognized, at first. Now Hip-Hop music has evolved to include: East Coast styles, West Coast style, Mid-West style and Southern styled of hip-hop music. Just saw this today. You guys are amazing. ILoved your reaction to this. I was in my early 20s when all of these artists were just coming up. Yes, it was a "Dre Day" for sure! Dre produced on all the songs that were performed..plus of course it began..and ended with Dre...which was kind of the point. :) I loved what you said about K-Hip-hop and Hip-Hop. Dr. Dre, and Snoop fall under an even narrower umbrella in Hip-Hop. They are Gangsta Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B. But, as the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame decided..they Rock..Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, and I think Mary J too have all been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They are legendary!

I was there when rap started with the DOZENS, I was living in Venice Beach back when We were having dance battles back then that was Crip territory. Ice T used to perform at the street scene. I lived that Aftermath West Coast history it was my time and my home don't you presume to school me on my past or my life style and you might want to learn to read because I did say there was a lot going on by no means could anyone be able to write down all that led up to that SB moment

This is the same venue BTS did their US show in LA at recently. Having been there, I can say there’s not a bad seat in the house. What legends they are though, every single one! Such a great halftime show!
@@fy3845 it depended on what section you were in. The first night I heard there were issues, that they couldn’t hear army? But i could hear the music fine on nights 2 and 3, but I couldn’t really hear cheering from outside of my own section. Acoustics were a little weird, but it was fine for a concert. Maybe the speakers aren’t the same for a halftime show though?
mmm! no that would be a shitty editing, and that wld also mean that it was a live on the spot editing which would mess up already perfected sequence. editing has evovled more than that, they tried a different drum beat timing, it was not off per say, it was just unexpected, but as you see they were on time with it

In mid 1990s west coast style of rap was not considered hip-hop music or hip-hop culture. It was considered gansta rap. However now it is considered Hip-Hop (which is a culture not just a style of music). Hip-Hop is a cultural expression that came of pain and struggle. Many rap pioneers and activists have played an important role in making Hip-hop mainstream. Dr. Dre is one of those people. His 35 year span in the music industry has helped shaped a piece of hip-hop music and culture that many appreciate as hip-hopmusic today. Kudos to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Mary J. Blige and 90s music and cheers to 50 cent, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar 2000s music. Helping to bridge the gap between both coast have been his greatest accomplishment Hip-Hop has evolved from not just being a New York style of music but a globally recognized style of music, something that wasn't nationally recognized, at first. Now Hip-Hop music has evolved to include: East Coast styles, West Coast style, Mid-West style and Southern styled of hip-hop music. I was in my early 20s when all of these artists were just coming up. Yes, it was a "Dre Day" for sure! Dre produced on all the songs that were performed..plus of course it began..and ended with Dre...which was kind of the point. :) I loved what you said about K-Hip-hop and Hip-Hop. Dr. Dre, and Snoop fall under an even narrower umbrella in Hip-Hop. They are Gangsta Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B. But, as the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame decided..they Rock..Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, and I think Mary J too have all been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They are legendary!

So the commonality is not just in location, or the fact that they are all GOATS. It was also in the messaging. Look at what songs were performed, cloths worn, stances taken, and the messages behind them and you will find your answer. @@kayk9895 I lived that history, it's a shared history, JayZ was behind the scenes making it happen. Just because I didn't mention all that was going on doesn't mean I don't know it. Like I said there was a LOT going on more than one thing. I was there when rap started with the DOZENS, I was living in Venice Beach back when We were having dance battles back then that was Crip territory. Ice T used to perform at the street scene. I lived that Aftermath West Coast history it was my time and my home don't you presume to school me on my past or my life style and you might want to learn to read because I did say there was a lot going on by no means could anyone be able to write down all that led up to that SB moment

Yeah, the map (floor) is L.A/Compton area, and the Tam's burgers (soo yum), After dark etc, are supposed to be like a certain block of their neighborhood (where they grew up of course. Now they're likely in the richest neighborhood hehe)

This is the same venue BTS did their US show in LA at recently. Having been there, I can say there’s not a bad seat in the house. What legends they are though, every single one! Such a great halftime show!

@@fy3845 it depended on what section you were in. The first night I heard there were issues, that they couldn’t hear army? But i could hear the music fine on nights 2 and 3, but I couldn’t really hear cheering from outside of my own section. Acoustics were a little weird, but it was fine for a concert. Maybe the speakers aren’t the same for a halftime show though?
Since K hip hop is so huge I was hoping to see some K artists reactions to this legendary half time show.

editing has evovled more than that, they tried a different drum beat timing, it was not off per say, it was just unexpected, but as you see they were on time with it

I don't know if it was fif it was 50 or Eminem that wanted him to perform or Dre at the Super Bowl. But Eminem's performance was cut short to make room for 50 cent his buddy. He cut his performance down a little bit so 50 could perform . Also I think it is in Detroit Eminem has his own restaurant called mom spaghetti
