Many of your art supplies are quite expensive brands. Just for fun, would you be able to do a set of videos showing what one could do with very inexpensive supplies? Ideas for using cheap paints, markers, etc? I know you might get supplies from companies whose materials you profile, but just for the sake of people who watch your videos who love art but have no money, it would be kind of cool…..
I’m not sponsored, except for one workshop for which Hahnemühle is providing sketchbooks. As I draw every day, I have found out what works for me and what doesn’t. And I invest in materials that feel yummy on the page. Working with cheap markers just doesn’t bring me as much joy. Having said that, not so long ago, I did a drawing using simple highlighter markers and that was a lot of fun. And I am a big advocate of making art-making available for everyone (hence my free weekly videos) - so thank you for flagging this. I will see what kinds of materials I have and can use for a video like that.
Thanks for the info. I assumed the different companies would send you their materials if you said they were your favourites, or you liked them. That would be cool if you could do a series of videos profiling inexpensive materials to show how you can make nice art without having to spend much!
Hi, Koosje. It has become a habit to watch your videos every Tuesday. I love toned paper, never tried grey but I once bought brown wrapping paper and I made a little sketchbook out of it. I'm filling it little by little. Thank you!
Very helpful!! I plan on journaling these notes in my gray toned paper sketchbook. Do you have any suggestions as to what materials don’t work well or bleed through these toned sketchbooks?
@@KoosjeKoene Lots of things in Scotland are not pronounced the way they are spelled. I have found out the hard way! Some words have even come from Norse and Dutch :)
I bought one of these sketchbooks after seeing your last demo. I must admit I was a bit scared at first 😊 but do love it now. The paper is lovely and smooth and, as you say, the grey tone makes you think in a different way. Thank you, Kooje. I would never have discovered this, but for you ❤
The past three years, I was really miserable, health--wise. I discovered your videos and you made me re-discover my passion for drawing and painting. I love your inclusive way of teaching - you really make drawing look do'able ❤ I will be forever grateful. Thanks a lot, Koosje, I appreciate your videos very much ❤
Hi Koosje-I agree with your approach regarding experimentation & using what you have. Thanks for sharing! Your whimsical style is nostalgically wonderful ❤
Did not know toned sketchbooks were a thing! I have used a brown paper bag once or twice but this is a great new thing to incorporate, thanks Koosje! 🥰🥰
I’m retired and these videos have kept me sane. I’m learning a lot from them and thanks for providing them for free. I ❤your style Koosje
Hi Koosje , I live for Tuesdays !!! I love all you give us , Thank you for them all , Mike in Exeter UK xx
Thanks so much, Mike!

That looks so awesome! I LOVE working on toned paper. Colors really stand out on it, and I love playing around with the negative space too.
Very helpful!!

Heads up before you go to Edinburgh it's Edin-bra not Edin-burrow! Bonus points if you roll the 'r'! :)
Did I pronounce it wrong? I’ll practice, thank you!

Wow, thank you so much! I hope you are feeling better now, and that drawing was at least distracting.
I’ll be in Edinburgh for your workshop in July! Can’t wait!
Yay!!
I think toned paper is best used as the mid-tone, adding light colors for highlights & and dark colors for shadows.
Loved watching this process! I just got a toned sketch book in the tan tone. Perfect timing!
Dramatic and very satisfying
