Bucovina ~ Mom Delivers Large Gull! Zenit Self Feeds & Pulls Out Long Bird-Ghetti! Huge Crop 7.25.21

  • Zenit was branching when Mom flies in with a large white gull! Zenit screams and makes it back to the nest to claim the prey with an amazing mantle. Zenit will be twelve weeks old this week and now mastered self feeding from start to finish on this prey. Mom would be very proud to see this accomplishment with Zenit able to pull and tear successfully and also pull off and swallow large bones including the feet!
    Zenit pulls out the intestines at 21:17 and eats the organs - very rich in nutrients! At 33:10 Zenit eats a leg bone and foot - quite amazing watching this go down and another large bone at 37:13. Not much was left when Zenit finished this 1.75 hour feeding feast! Thank you for watching!
    Video captured & edited by Lady Hawk
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This nest is located in a remote area of Bucovina Romania where a pair of Golden Eagles have been nesting and raising their young. The Wild Bucovina Association is a non government and non profit organization that has set up a new webcam recently to observe a rare pair of golden eagles raise their chick. This pair has been observed locally for the past 6 years. Setting up the cam has spooked the male and he had not been back to the nest. On 6/13/21 the male returned to the nest with prey for the first time since the cam installation.The female is hunting and taking care of their chick.The male has been seen and photographed flying with the female close to the nest and is also hunting for the family. Due to the sensitive nature of nest disturbance & the consequences involved, caution is advised while viewing this wild golden eagle nest.
    Courtesy of Wild Bucovina Association & Stelian Bodnari. Many thanks for the livestream on the golden eagle family.
    When Mom made the delivery, Zenit grabbed the prey and shouted aloud: "Leave it to me, Mom, I'll do everything I learned from you, my Queen, and you'll be proud of me." Then Zenit tore the prey, pulled the meat, fed himself and swallowed the big bones. And he did everything masterfully! Zenit is ready to hunt and feed, of course. 🌱 Well done little one!! Imitate your Mom and Dad, they are your best role models, follow your instincts and conquer your place in the world. 🙏 We are with you with our hearts full of pride and love for you, beloved Zenit. 💞 Thank you so much for sharing, Lady Hawk. 😍💕❤💕 ❣🌱🌏 ✌
    I was on the edge of my seat watching Zenet swallow that leg bone! It's crazy that he managed to get it down. It was huge! The camera angle and the lighting of this footage really highlighted Zenit's signature golden head feathers! 🤍 Thanks Lady Hawk for sharing this nest and all your knowledge about these rather obscure Golden Eagles.
    Another one of my heartfelt reviews of this beautiful golden eagle juvie. I love Zenit to bits and I am so happy Mom stepped up to the proverbial plate and fed our Zenit. However, this was another vid I did not watch, not going to lie, but I scrolled the vid all the way up so I could not see Zenit enjoying the waterbird. Oh yes, my sound was at zero, too!! Just because I choose not to see the prey being eaten, nor do I hear the sounds of the "meal", that does not mean that I don't adore this family. I truly do. I think I have only passed on maybe three videos, but my main concern is that Zenit is fed and that Mom and Dad are tending to their parenting skills handsomely!! Again, great job today, Mom. Dad you are also keeping your kiddo fed, and for that I am truly grateful.
      I was so glad to see that you said these things. I saw what you said about the cat, and to be honest, I actually came to see what you were going to say about this bird being torn to shreds and eaten. I really thought you would show more for the cat than the bird, but you showed equally for both. You strengthened my belief in some people. I understand the love of cats by certain people and not wanting to see them eaten by eagles, but there are also bird lovers who feel the same about a bird being eaten. I am a realist, so I know what to expect watching these videos. What I don't understand is those who geek out over a cat being eaten, but not a bird. I am an animal lover. That means ALL animals! But I also know that something had to die in order for something else to live.
      Thank you for your equal love of animals.
      @@stopspam420 You are so kind. I, as you, love every one of God's creatures. I have had animals in my life since I was "knee high to a duck". I am also the Mom to two amazing African Grey parrots that are in their 20's. My entire life has been blessed with wonderful pets. To be honest, at this stage in the game, the climate of this country being what it is nowadays, I much prefer animals over most people. Their love is unconditional. You are so correct when you stated the obvious that one animal must die so another one can live. I get it, however, I choose not to watch but am aware that once the feeding is completed, the circle of life continues. I also feel that, in my eyes, Mother Nature can be so very cruel. It falls back to the fact that survival for these amazing eagles is incredibly difficult and every day is a challenge and a blessing.
    • @ladyhawk
      Hello Christopher - branching means that the young eagle hops/ flies to the different branches in the nest tree. Once the eaglet leaves the nest tree that is considered a fledge! Zenit is now flying to nearby trees and hopefully will still return to the nest to eat!
    It looks like at 13m Zenit is considering some sort of organ, nibbles on it some but it gets tossed to the side. I was expecting Zenit to just gobble it up like intestines and some of the other organs. Are these eagles able to taste much or are they deciding what they eat based on the consistency and look of the body part?
    • @ladyhawk
      @ladyhawk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1
      Most of the time the eagles will eat all the prey that they come across but I have seen on other nests eaglets and adults not eat something and I suspect they don't like the taste of certain things. They do have similar taste buds like humans! I think for eaglets like Zenit they have to learn to eat the organs and intestines - that has a very distinct taste. And in one of my videos, prey was brought in (young birds) and they had recently been fed a lizard (it was whole in the stomach and had not been digested yet) and that was something that Zenit did not like!
    When a cat is delivered as a food item, a warning is given. I understand why of course. But there are also bird lovers who watch this. Don't you think it's kind of gross showing guts being ripped out of the lifeless body of a bird? I'm a realist, so I know what to expect watching these videos. What I'm saying is that, so should all those who choose to watch these videos to expect anything and accept it. Eagles will bring anything they catch to the nest. Favoring one species over another is not what eagles do. We who watch these videos shouldn't either. Just saying.
      I understand what you are saying, but having cats as pets is very common, having water bird pets is not. So it's understandable people are more attached to cats than they are birds. I mean, I don't need a warning period. if I read the animal type or if it's alive in the nest, I can decide for myself. But it's about a domesticated, that people more generally empathize with. I think Zenit had eaten or swallowed a old bone he found In the nest. Which was concerning. Then dad was MIA if I’m not mistaken so it was looking rather grim at that particular time and I found it hard to watch.
      So I’m glad things are definitely looking up for this family and this juvie is thriving growing and looking like a man/bird 😂. KUDOS! 👏👏
    Zenit is a cutie and was one hungry eaglet with impressive self-feeding skills! We have seen bald eagle fledglings that couldn't do this level of dismantling and defeathering! Wow! 👍
    Nice full crop and nothing wasted. Most likely some smaller birds came by to pick up a feather or two for their own nests. Even those that were blown away probably were put to good use.
