Singapore having 3 MYNAS??? They are so cute, intelligent birds! I didn't know that common hill myna is one of the native speices in Singapore. And also didn't know that the yellow thing around its face is skin! Waching your videos about animals(especially birds) makes my free time completed. Love from Korea!
aww so cool that my small videos are reaching you in Korea!! Sending love to you too!! And I'm really really grateful that this channel is bringing positivity to you!! There'll definitely be more videos on birds to come!! ❤
Ya leh!! So many of the rarer species all keep having Common in their names! But I guess that really shows the scale of impact with invasive species and the loss of forests also :(
Great video. As Singapore’s forests become smaller and fewer, finding hill mynahs becomes even more important because they are one of the six indicator species identified by NParks for their Ecological Profiling Exercise. We can use the sightings of hill mynahs to advocate the conservation of the remaining unmanaged secondary forests wherever they can be found.
Thank you so much Jimmy! Absolutely these mynas are more important that what people think. And I’m glad to have been able to spot 3 of these 6 species in my years making videos - so that’s still a good sign for our forest habitats. But yes big big need to advocate for all these precious species we have native to us!!
The greater hill myna was very popular as a cage bird with many 'uncles' because of its ability to 'talk' and unfortunately they learn all the foul words along the way and when it gets too embarrassing for the families, they usually get disposed of.
Hill mynahs are so rare, you practically have an easier time finding someone who keep them as pets than seeing them out there in Singapore (generally speaking). 😅
Hello shawn,I thought that hill mynah already extinct. But glad to know they are still around.Hopefully that good looking bird can multiply its species in future.🌳🪶🌻
Hello!! Yeah they're still around and I'm thankful for that! But yes, hope that we have enough forests for it to continue multiplying and to prosperrrr

the hill mynas scolding the uncles for trapping them in the first place! hahaha
In Indonesia, we call them beo, and to say "like a beo bird" means "to parrot". Like a localized version of that slang lol.
