- From The Raize Resource at www.jasonraize.net. Jason Raize and Heather Headley, the original Simba and Nala in the Broadway production of THE LION KING, perform "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" on GOOD MORNING AMERICA. This video includes press reel clips and a post-performance interview.
Since 1998, The Raize Resource at www.jasonraize.net has been dedicated to the life and career of Jason Raize. The website relaunched in summer 2010 with photos, videos, articles, and information about Jason's projects including The Lion King, Jessica Simpson and Jason Raize in Concert, Keeping It Wild with Jason Raize, and his work with the United Nations.
Two people, no effect, no props, no choreo, just singing. But it feels deep to my heart. I love the way he act when she touches his lion face.
Jason had so much ahead of him, so much he could have done. I'm sad because he must have been in so much emotional pain to have taken his life. When I look into his eyes in the interview he looks like a child. I still cry when I see any of these videos of his work, I'm crying now. I hope you are in a kinder gentler place now Jason. You are missed.
Well unfortunately Jason is in hell. He isn’t in a gentle place he’s in a more extremely hot place called hell. That is because he commuted suicide and the Bible states that since Judas betrayed Jesus and committed suicide you will go to hell if you also commit suicide. It’s sad that he’s in hell, but that’s what you get when you give up your life.
@@MrStars-bj9yf Lying about the Bible like the demonic creature you are.
Mr. Stars Really dude? Was that necessary?
@@MrStars-bj9yf The Bible states a lot of ridiculous things and that is because it was written by man. Written by men and used to create order. I wonder how much of the Bible you follow, and how much you ignore. Hope you have never worn blended fabrics (polyester), eaten shellfish, had sex before you were married. Your lack of empathy and understanding is disheartening, and far from the model Jesus Christ taught.
Mr. Stars you shouldn’t have said that. You’re disrespectful as fuck.
I love this performance with Heather Headley and Jason Raize, and the latter's interpretation of Simba is so sweet. :)
R.I.P. Jason Raize :(
My heart is breaking =(
RIP Jason Raize
i have a beautiful drawing of jason that i keep in my room to remind me of his performing acts of the lion king and brother bear.🌹

Jason Raize will always live on because of this musical.
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! How I wanted to see Jason talking and acting in addition to singing! I have been ages looking for an interview of him!
Thank you so much to the author! So much!
Greetings from Spain.
I so wish that I had been able to see these two perform ... the chemistry between them is just right for their characters and they do an awsome job ... I am glad that I can still hear them sing these songs and I can almost feel like I am there .... Jason will be missed
I was so excited when I saw there was a video I hadn't seen of Jason! That made me happy and sad at the same time. RIP Jason.
"I really missed you" correction we really MISS you. Present tense. Saw the show probably a year before he passed. Didn't find out until over ten years later.
+Max Angel I found out last month :(
"It's like you're back from the dead" really hit me hard
I still can't understand, reading through the comments, this lovely gorgeous man Jason Raize is now in heaven....does not make sense. He's beautiful xxx
The feels... the feels... the feels...
R.I.P. JASON RAIZE 🕊🥀🕊❤️
I love Jason Raize and Heather Headly.
That line about being back from the dead hurts so much now 😭😭😭
This version is on a sing along songs video I have. It's the only song I'm not embarrassed to actually sing along with. RIP Jason Raize.
heather headley gives me chills! and jason was amazing as always
Today, February 3, 2024 marks 20 years since Jason's death. It's a shame he decided to take his own life too soon. I don't judge him, he had his reasons and we must respect that, I just hope he now is in a better place and at peace. Always remembered never forgotten. Rest in peace Jason Raize Rothenberg.
Such a sad tragedy:( what a waste of pure talented and beautiful person and actor!
RIP Jason Raize! you are truly missed
It just ruins me to see how talented this guy was and how much potential he had to be even greater:(
Jason Raize gives me the chills and the thrills every time I watch him in these videos or bootlegs of the show. He is the best portrayal of Simba in any Lion King thing, in my opinion. He really is The Lion King. He will be deeply missed.
Jason was one of of my good friends when Living in Ny... Til this day i still think of him.
Rip Jason. You will always be missed.
Magical. Simply a magical moment between the two.
Heather Headley and Jason Raize ughhhhh 😩😩😩😩♥️♥️♥️♥️
@Stahi It's hard and sad to believe that we lost one of the talented men on Earth...:'(
OMG I have been looking all over for this video thank you so much I owe you my life I adore Jason Raize rest in peace
What a pity the only footage of JR singing from tlk are on shitty quality VHS recordings... never realized how tv came so far in 20 years.
"The Lion King" is highest grossing Broadway show of all time having grossed US$853.8 million.
:') im crying n getting goosebumps! mannnnnn this performance is sooo beautiful!!!

THANK YOU I was trying to find this video for the longest long live Jason Raize
thank you very very much for this
I saw the play a few months ago, and can't stop thinking about it. Came looking for video of it. Thanks.
Is this the same Heather Headley who played at the Hollywood bowl recently? She has such good voice control.
Yes❤❤
My heart jesus..... #tb Just finished watching the movie
Seeing this play is number 1 on my list of things to do before I die list. Great video!
Thanks so much for putting this channel up. I hope you have more videos?
Rip Jason raize As Simba
Rip Samuel E wright As Mufasa
wow...taht brought me to tears...
R.I.P. Jason Raize. :(
Me encanta la actuación, aunque tuvo que haber sido mejor en vivo, igual se ve genial y asombroso.
i was thinkin' of that, too. i would really like to get the original on dvd as well.
awesome video
such a lovely face
this Nala is the same girl from Aida???
Her name is Heather Headley
Jason Raize and Heather Headley as Kiara and Kion's parents.
omg i want to see it !!
Heather Headly!!
RIP :(
thanx!
I actually always find it really sarcastic that the (at 1997) most underestimated voices of the original cast are now probably the most hyped Simba and Nala (definitely rightful)
Don't get me wrong I also love the others like Samuel E. Wright (although I find myself kind of preferring L. Steven Taylor and Michael Edward-Stevens) and Tsidii Le Loka (like she was killing it)
It's just that Heather and Jason are bringing this harmony, this vibe that actually makes you really believe this story like it's real.
I was about to say(type) that Heather and Jason are even more epic than the movie itself, but you've already nailed it. :)
okay just reading the comets below me!!! Jason's dead! 0.0 what when did this happen!? why am I the last to find this stuff out :"( I loved his work man he was so good!!! On a happy note love this video! Saw the show a few years ago and fell in love with it ever since and no one dose it better then thoses two! :")
He decided to take his own life on February 3rd 2004. He was 28 years old.
Heather Hadley, yes!!
That's our fam
@TheJrose7 - he's dead..... :'(
Rest in Peace Jason Rothenberg Raize!
@Stahi i know..... that was sooo sad to read
do you know what caused him to take his life? he is still so missed
MusicIsMe1444 i think he was very stressed and had a lot going on and couldn’t get out of it.
@08tellie oh thats lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
WOW the guy that plays Simba is sexy!! i'm inlove.
@christianpreachr In addition to his dad's rejection, he became depressed when this role didn't land him into super-stardom. In fact, he was unemployed when he died.
How do you know that? Did you meet him?
@TheJrose7 - I'm sorry, I didn't mean to spam, but couldn't see my message coming up after, I pushed send.....
OH!!!! Heather was Nala?!?!?!
@lecafetasse
me to
5:09 was beautiful
Did he realy commit suicide? Why?
Me wanting my relationship with simba to be like that (I’m nala)
When was Chris Jackson playing Simba
Anna Wash and come 2000-02 (broadway) 2003-04 (US tour)
@TheJrose7 - well, I'm sorry to inform you that he's dead..... :'(
Rest in Peace Jason Rothenberg Raize!
@RoseyRed088 As I undestand he commited suicide when his father rejected him for being homosexual.
wow, Unbelievable.
R u serious? That's sad..
Heather and Jason>Matthew and Moira
Their I said it
suicide : (
That sucks. I would never reject anybody for being homosexual. One of my best friends is bi, and that's fine with me as long as I don't have to see him coming onto a guy. I'm open-minded, but that would just weird me out.
@TheJrose7 - well, I'm sorry to inform you that he's dead..... :'(
Rest in Peace Jason Rothenberg Raize!
