I went and bought Metaphor after work today based on Greg’s review here as well as Barrett’s glowing review on the official review. Super hype to start it tonight
I hope you enjoy it, might want to give it several hours for things to pick up. It’s typical long tutorial JRPG kinda situation. That’s one reason the demo was so long from my pov.
To Andy’s point about resting in Metaphor, I wouldn’t recommend that as it takes up calendar time. I’d say save your mp until you need it, if you can win with melee and then heal after, you’ll be alright. Also, the game has a restart battle option so that you can learn their weaknesses and restart with this knowledge if you need it. Later on you can even get an Archetype that restores MP for the small battles.
To that last point, once you unlock the Mage archetype MP no longer is a worry. You can just go down to lower levels of any dungeon and farm overworld enemies until everyone has full MP. Only one character needs to have Mage equipped for that to work
16:11 Silent Hill 2 is Lynchian horror. Its basically like a half awake half dream style of horror where everything feels like it doesnt make sense but it does and the characters act like its normal but its not. They also act like half of the time they’re not there thinking about something else. Basically everything feels kinda off but mesmerizing and pulls you in
Greg falling asleep playing silent hill 2 is just bonkers to me. My heart rate has been sky high for the last 15 hours I’ve put in to this game. The anxiety and oppressiveness of the game hasn’t let up the entire time. If anything I am mentally exhausted by it, and it’s my only complaint is that it is a little too long. But boring? Nah man
Andy the controls I’m using are standard controls setting but I swapped R1 and R2 with L1 and L2. PS5 edge controller with the L1 (guard) on the left paddle and X (dash) on the right paddle. So far that works best for me
The scene that Andy was talking about was the first time I watched DBZ. My friend came over and wanted to watch it before we went outside. I was like WTF is happening and I was hooked.
Tim, once you get to the Cell saga with Goku, when you get to the part in that saga where Goku and Gohan start training switch to Gohan’s story. Once you finish the Cell saga with Gohan, go back to Goku. Don’t worry about it taking a lot of time because Gohan’s arc in the game picks up in the cell saga so it will be seamless. Trust me. You will be fine playing through Goku’s story for the most part but this is the one area where a switch up is pretty much mandatory.
Is Madeline getting confused between Ring and Silent Hill? Naomi Watts isn't in Silent Hill or the sequel but she is in the US remake of Ring. Just wondering what was meant there. Sean Bean was playing the main character of the first game, not added for any other reason.
I’m not a massive fan of Silent Hill 2 either, but Greg saying that the enemies aren’t scary is something that should be featured on a hot take episode. The Silent Hill series has some of the most disturbing enemies in all of video games.
@@markdeejay86 They are pretty interchangeable. If you see something disturbing then it usually scares you and if you get scared then you are usually disturbed by the feeling.
For me Persona 4 is my fav Persona, and Metaphor is so far really impressing me. But how the hell has Gregg never completed P5 thats crazy to me. Its the penultimate Persona game.
I enjoyed P4 a ton as well, I always wonder what a remake for that game would feel like story wise, I can’t get out of my head that the characters would all be bobble heads, haha. What a good time that game is.
I am all over SIlent Hill2 Remake...for $15-20 tops. Insane to spend $100+ on the base version no thank you sir. About to check out the Metaphor RF demo and it will be my first Atlas game.
Greg got me to buy P4G back in 2012. Thanks for that. It's my second favorite game of all time. I think, for me, P5 was a decent step back narratively from 3 and 4, but just from the Metaphor demo, I felt that 2012 feeling of... hold on, this might be peak.
That -- along with me loving Metaphor in this episode, having Dragon Age as my most anticipated game, being pumped for Life Us Strange -- doesn't fit this person's narrative. I'm not vibing with Silent Hill; I hate story games. - Greg
@@DDCPittdon't you love how someone can take the benign personal observation of "He likes different games than me." Then immediately turn it into "Yeah! He doesn't even _like_ games!" I love the comments section🤭
@@stroudwes0325 While Greg does have some preferred types of games, he does play and enjoy a wide variety in fairness. If you were to direct any "criticism" at him (though I'm not sure that's the right term) - I think it's that if he doesn't enjoy a game straight off, he doesn't have much patience for persevering with it and giving it a fair shake, and his mind is rarely changed in these cases. And hey I get it to a good degree - he's a busy guy who has all sorts of codes thrown at him to play, and he's got a young kid too. But on the other hand he'll also put in 100+ hours in some games doing repetitive stuff because that's comfortable for him - so it's not entirely a time thing. Regarding Silent Hill 2, I'm about halfway through and it definitely gets better and more intriguing past the very initial part Greg has played. At the very least I think you gotta make it past the apartments before you make judgements like this
With Persona and metaphor I always just go with the canon name of the MC as I feel it just fits in best with the world, especially with persona being set in Japan and giving the MC a western name feels odd
Honestly, Tim getting into Sparking Zero has me interested now. Similar to Tim, I missed out on DBZ somehow, but everyone always tells me I'd love the show, so maybe this video game is it? I think I'm gonna hold to see if Dragon Age delivers and then make a decision on whether to get Sparking Zero, Vessel of Hatred, or DA 🤔
I too liked Personal 5, but I got about 70 hrs in. Think I had 2 dungeons left. This was a great surprise because I had no idea about this game coming out. I’m playing the demo now and it’s awesome. I just finished SH2, I’ve got LIS deluxe to buy next week, now I need to buy this.
Read the manga, is the best Dragon Ball version and experience, and no, just watching Z is not it imo…. The attachment with every character and journey you need DB.
On what? He’s so varied now. Deep into Star Field, huge on little narrative games, live service shill for Diablo…he’s all over the place. Respectfully.
Wonder if you guys can ever lose the juvenile constant swearing -- it's why I almost never watch or listen (and I'm sure I'm far from the only one). I'm guessing I'll get feedback here from people defending it, and for those of you that do, ask yourself how that kind of language is in any way appealing or helpful. It just comes off as ugly, crude, and inconsiderate.
Feel like Greg just wanted to ask him how long it took to beat, and then he just hung around for the whole segment lol. Doesn't feel like they'd planned for him to be there as they brought out Madeline to talk about it
My main problem with the difficulty on hard in Metaphor refantazio is that extra turn and combat situations. After you defeat the first major boss in the first dungeon ( I did it on hard ) some smart dev thought it was a great idea to immediately put you against another boss and I just used almost all my items. Those are my main problems. The bad thing about the extra turn which I think is unfair and not smart. Example and it's really bad with bosses. If a boss has an attack that hits the whole party and it has that extra turn you have to hope it won't use it again because if it does you are screwed. That has nothing to do with strategy since it's quite literally just luck there. I wish hard could just be without the extra turn and make the damage be a little more. Then it would be perfect because when you get through a battle on hard it is satisfying but then things like I've mentioned it is annoying :(
Gregs makes me want to buy metaphor now.
Join us!
Dont fall for it, fren.
Best fren.
Try out the demo first.
It’s been great so far
Metaphor really could win KF game of the year and I’ll cry real tears
Currently about 13 hours into Metaphor.
Digging it!
Yo, journaling while you’re playing games sounds like a cool experience. Thanks for sharing Greg. I’m going to try that.
It's something I wish I did more. I wish I had chronicled Starfield that way. - Greg

P3R is my favorite Persona and Metaphor is really working for me. I think it’s actually gonna beat P3R for my GOTY
Same I enjoyed P3R more than P5R, and now Metaphor is seemingly going to rise to the top. Hope you have a good time.
I think I'm like 10 hours in and I am starting to think this might beat Persona 5 as best Atlus game for me. This is definitely my GOTY.
Metaphor is so good!!
im just sad that they don't show the pivotal moments in DB sparking. Like the Kamehameha and garlic gun epic beam battle
Trips me out how similar Joey and Madeline sound! Was great to have Madeline on content this week
I don’t know if I can think of many examples of video game stories LESS hamfisted than SH2 lol

Protagonist’s name is Will, but love Greg’s choice.
They 100% have copies of Dragon Age already. 🤣 Nice save Greg.
This is KFG Vol. 3, Episode 113 (Episode 597 overall)
Draw him like one of your French girls, Andy.

I can't think of anyone my gaming tastes/takes differ to more t than Greg Miller. Time after time.
He used to be the narrative story driven guy. Post marriage, Kinda Funny, and his kid... He's now hop in hop out Diablo guy running a gaming company.

Cool Greg is the goat for that SCSA shirt
God, that Silent Hill segment was hard to watch

Tim should watch Dragonball Z Kai and listen to the All Systems Goku podcast by Dan Rykert and JEff Gerstmann as he watches. Great experience
