I don't think Stewart toyed with Reed on purpose here; I am still scratching my head why Chad went wide there because CR22 came into A3 ready to battle JS7. Chad never let him out of his sight, so I thought that was a sign that he was ready to take on James for the rest of the season, only to find out Reed would only beat James at San Diego when James crashed. Reed got close at Dallas though, and it's hard to believe that was the closest he got for the rest of the season.

@@johnnybgood774 I do remember that, and I didn't like it at all. I think it was a case of arrogance (and nerves of steel) on James' behalf, not to mention one of the VERY RARE times you can do stuff like that.

My guess is that Anaheim (outside of the 1st race) is just a regular stop to Ricky, which is why he chose not to have A3 on his list of races for his farewell tour; IMO, I think if Ricky had raced every round up until his last one in Orlando, he might not have had Epstein Barr, which led him to sit out the U.S. Open.

James stuart is the fastest most talented guy to ever throw a leg over a bike. Yes rc is the goat but even the goat himself will tell you the same thing..chad read is to conservative of a rider to be like js or rc..that's why people say chad reed and alls you here is hes consistent..I wish james would have stayed with it he would have destroyed the supercross records just for fun..I watch alot of videos and if the 7 isnt in the video I skip it..I bet McGrath is happy he didnt continue cause all his records would have been budda on top...my favorite chad interview after he won was when he was in tears telling the world that elly helped him win and he was in tears in the motor home...crap let elly race she could probably do better than chad anyways...lol adrian we did it Rickey Carmichael was announcing and bubba crashed going to fast again but me and elly did it..#7bubba best ever along with #4rickeycarmichael..#22 gets the biggest emotional award for always coming in 2nd or 3rd..when the goats showed up....

I don't disagree on Stew being one of the fastest, and most talented.
I am in-between on Reed being too conservative, but you still gotta admit that it did work in a long career for Chad.
James very well may have toppled MC's record of 72 wins had he stayed with Kawasaki, but after 2009 was when James' career decisions totally sucked. All James did was make plenty of enemies after he got on that backwards-framed Yamaha 450.
McGrath happy he didn't continue? I don't know about that. MC said he downright hated his new KTM after two subpar performances in Europe -- even after signing a 4-year deal with them.
I like that interview from Reed as well. The race you're referring to is St. Louis 2006 -- one of my all-time favorite races ever. It certainly lifted a lot of weight off of Reed's shoulders. Chad even said himself that he "felt 300 pounds lighter" after that win in St. Louis. It's a total shame Reed lost out on the Supercross title in the end once RC was refunded his 25 pts. from his fuel penalty after San Diego. I had the '06 St. Louis race posted, but FELD pulled it I think.
The way I see it is that Reed was coming up, and Stew and RC ruined his prime years for winning. After RC retired, James was on top for just 2 years, and when James started throwing his life away repeatedly, Reed got better and better. Yes, a couple injuries ruined a couple of title runs, but Reed was there week in week out; the other thing that stands out at me is that when Reed's career was on the chopping block, he did something about it while Stewart did nothing after his WADA suspension.

That's the fight and desire Chad has to beat him. Maybe he didn't have the right bike in 2007, but look at how his career turned out compared to James' career.
