As someone who has dealt with mental health issues my whole life, I know it's a tough battle - especially when physical problems compound things. Laine is my #1 player I was rooting for to have a good year, even as a Bruins fan. This sucks, hope he comes back soon as has a great rest of the season.
Really hoping he has a great year once he gets back. Feel like he’s been through a lot, and has hopefully grown a bit and will thrive with a change of scenery, with some good veterans behind the bench and a hungry young core.
Dangling on two perspectives here but I think Pare had one of those moments when he reaches out and knows he doesn't quite get him and bend his knee to stop him, not to hurt him. Laine was had his wide stance and didn't have the time to evade it. Again Pare tried to stop him at all cost, and ended up doing the wrong move as a reflex. Hockey is a fast sport and he did the wrong type of move, bending his knee and I can't blame him. Maybe it was to protect himself or trying to stop him. All of those decisions happen so fast so even he wouldn't know why. I'm glad that Laine might be playing the last half. It would be so nice to see him being the elite player as he was back in the day with the Finnish juniors and the first couple of seasons in the NHL.
Laine was doing the Limbo across the blue line, this is on him when skating like that into two D-men. Laine is relaxed, refusing surgery, lots of money coming in. Really hard to look at this with an open mind.

I'm sure he'll actually be better after this unfortunate event, since he has more time to think about his future endeavours.
