I live as a undergraduate student in Aussie now and sometimes I play netball in campus. It's not as easy as it shown in the video. But it is fun and good sport once you play.
The only true women's Sports are Jelly Wrestling and Mud Wrestling or Pole Dancing

Interesting - has a lot of similarities of the old 6 on 6 women's basketball that originally divided the court into three sections limiting the players to only being able to operate on certain areas. Unlike Netball dribbling was allowed but only three dribbles before you had to shoot or pass. Women's basketball transitioned to the Men's game about fifty years ago.

edit: Just looked it up, Iowa and Oklahoma abandoned it in 1993 and 1995. Now I know.

Well, went down a TH-cam hole and somehow ended up on netball. Interesting sport! Wish I would have watched this BEFORE the 2OT of the Australia vs New Zealand final, but it makes a whole lot more sense now. Cool and unique game!

The young women at the office I worked in in the late 80s started up a netball team,got their own team kit and place to play and joined a league. They got us to come and support them playing their matches on Sunday mornings,which I did sometimes. I've just been reminded about it by an a couple of items about the sport I saw on BBC News and Breakfast today. I've never played it myself but I played basketball sometimes at school. A former girlfriend of mine liked basketball a lot.
I love the softer yet swift gameplay of netball. But I can't help but be appalled at how unequal the positions are in terms of activity range. GK can only stand around in a tiny area doing nothing until someone comes to shoot, WD just chases after WA but has no access to the shooting area. In contrast, GA accesses a wide area AND gets to shoot and C at least gets to move around almost everywhere. Back in school I was GD, and I hated how all I got to do was just keep following the GA while they got to shoot and stuff :(

Hi, great video and got all the essentials about rules of netball. One thing to note is that about centre passes...the Centre pass should be taken alternatively between the 2 teams throughout the game but in the commentry it says if one team takes the 1st centre pass in the 1st qtr then the opposing team should take the 1st centre pass in the 2nd qtr...which is not correct.
Each empire covers half of the court... which is divided into thirds.

Owh,man THANK YOU SO MUCH..i rlly need this.My school is having some sports events where u can choose any game/sport tht u wanted to play.And one of my friend beged me to join the netball tornament..i told her idk how to play but she still beged for me.And here i am joining the netball team,not knowing how to play.The seniors were having an audition for us the netball team(to find the right position eg gk,ga..) i hav a rlly hard time catching/throwing the ball from a long distance and hav a hard time with the walking thing.The good thing is im just some extra person,so i dont rlly hav my position.The BAD thing is the seniors said "evn when ur just an extra ur still goin to play in the match,after first match for example.. someone is tired and u need to replace her for the second match"..yes,i regret my decision,i hope myself for not coming to school tommorrow(the tornament=tommorrow)pls god,i hope noone's tired after playing one match.(srry if any of these offends u n for my eny)
Actually, this sport is extremely fun to play and every single member does something and is included. Hard but very fun.
not really, in netball every member is important. But in basket ball a player can be left out. (school bb games that is.)

+TJNAmp It is a mixture of Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee, however it is an easier version of each. Less running, almost no defense ability, no backboard.

sniperlif3 LMAO LESS RUNNING? Mate, it's a lot of running in pro games. You can't just stand there and expect a free pass anywhere, the entire team has to move around to find space almost all the time, or they will be forced a turnover for held ball. This means a lot of running to find space to provide an option within 3 seconds every time. Shooters (especially Goal-Attack) have to do a lot of movement in the circle to open space for a shot, and you can expect how hard that can be if the defense is so tight and the space is covered.
Guys if you have ever tried to play netball, you will realise that it is not as easy as it looks. Just try to learn and play it then you will appreciate it as a sport and not waste alot of your time whining about which game is better

Bouns Mithbuster I play both netball and basketball. Netball for about 4 years now and basketball in a much more recent thing (around 1 year and a half) but I must say netball is much more enjoyable for me because of the complexity of it, because it has more rules it teaches you more discipline whereas basketball I have found is a lot more chaotic
am with you for what you have told.to play netball it is not easy as you have saw in video try to do exercises for netball you will understand how it is good sport

I'm not here to criticize the sport (although I could), but how are so many people here getting randomly picked to play netball while never having played it? I'm assuming it's for your school or something, and I just find it odd that there's so many comments from people who have an upcoming game and don't know how to play. Wherever you all are from, don't you go out and perform in a trial to make the team, like other sports? As in, don't you pick the sports you play based on what you ALREADY KNOW HOW TO PLAY and perform well enough in to do so? Or is it that difficult to find and field a netball team that your schools are resorting to conscripting students like in a war draft... OR COMMUNISM?! I'm rather curious about this.
Well if somebody can play basketball in my school u can just get chosen to play netball I play netball and I was put on the basketball team based of my netball skills

I saw a Facebook video from some netball league in Australia. The video had 40,000 more laugh reacts than likes. It honestly looks absurd with little defense taking place. Like diet basketball.

The sport is very popular in Commonwealth countries: Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, South Africa etc. Its Australias most played team sport. Dont say its a cheap version of basketball cause they're completely different.

With WD and WA, you mixed them up, wing attack can go in the middle and the way their shooting and then wing defence can go in the middle and the opposite way of where their shooting

So it is a basketball/ultimate frisbee mix made easier of each game. Much less running than either, the only hard part seems to be the lack of backboard.

I normally don't comment on anything on TH-cam. But this is by far the most complicated so called sports I have ever come across. Until today, I have never heard of Netball before. This has nothing to do with whether it's hard or not. But this freaking sport has so many rules. Just listening to the damn rules, you are tired. People just pick up a basketball and start playing. People just pick up a soccer ball and start playing. It's like damn. You can't do this. You can't do that. You can't do this or that. Damn!!! No wondered the whistle kept blowing up. The players probably don't even remembered all the rules. LOL. Every time the whistle is blown, they are probably like, "Shoot! What did I just do?" LOL

It isn't that hard for professionals. You will know during the game: if you follow through someone or touch the player instead of the ball its contact and you stand aside. If your really close to someone its obstruction and you stand aside. If you go over your designated area you're offside. Those are really the basics. Then its just a matter of catching the ball instead of fumbling to avoid a replay (turnover) and footwork.
