Back in the 70's, I was a teenager, I took a beetle body off the frame just like you did. I lived in a dense neighborhood. Once the body was off, I realized I could still drive it w/o the body. I tied a plastic jug to the engine for gas, I reconnected the steering column and put the battery back in. It ran and w no seats and holding the floppy steering column w my knees, I was zipping up and down the street having a blast. Suddenly, it stopped running, I hopped out and saw the plastic jug had a hole melted in it and all the gas ran out. I was pushing the thing back to the house and a police car rolls up, he asks me if I had seen anyone riding a go-kart in the area, he had gotten a call about a noisy go-kart. I stood up straight and looked around and told him I hadn't seen any "go-karts". He drive off. He couldn't have been looking for me, I was driving a Volkswagen.
Diff, man you put the cart in front of the horse, lol ! We have a saying in the states, HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE !! Time to turn and burn for sure now, another saying we have here in the States, remember she wants to go to town in January in the little yellow machine, good luck !!
That's going to be a squeeze fitting it under that little body. I've no doubt it will work, but for sure it's not going to look quite original when it's done. Thanks Div, think you're lucky to have a friend like that.

I love these old French cars, I drive a late production Citroen 2CV myself. No blasphemy on bringing that Renault 4CV into team air-cool. It should have been there from the factory.

Iv got a 1974 VW super beetle... I did a backyard restoration on it back 20 years ago... Been sitting.. Needs another resto fixer upper job.. The track width on the VW looks a bit wider than the car it is going under, could just be the camera though... looking forward to seeing this project develop... certainly different from a ground up build, this should offer quite a challenge, considering there is IRS involved here too.

The floor pan is in amazing condition considering the rust in the body. Ps don't overlook a master cylinder upgrade. One weeping wheel cylinder equals no brakes. Ask me how I know. Ha ha ha ha

(and the car stuff is pretty darn great too) Winning Sir...winning!!! Side note, stripped out quite a few cars over the years but never ever had a car that didn't give up some coins...lowest amount was a 2c coin which they haven't made in Australia since 1992. The most I've got is just under $20 in coins...I thought I'd hit a gold mine cos the car cost $50 - Its the little things in life that are the best hahaha

The VW chassis and engine are easier to maintain and it's a lot easier to purchase parts. It was very predictable that your wife likes the Renault. With it's rounded shapes it's looking quite cute = it's a woman's car. But of course I like it too. Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Restoring for instance vehicle to their absolute origin is not my thing. Because most of the time you end up by owning a shiny but unsafe vehicle that needs way too much gasoline and has bad brakes. Meanwhile I like patina restorations with some necessary upgrades way more. Thanks for replying and especially for giving a heart to my comment.
