In the art scene, realness and accountability are the deal-breakers. It's all about keeping the integrity of our craft tight. So, let's stand up for the standards, bigging up the artists who grind hard and put their heart and soul into what they create.
Now, if there's some real talk about an issue, we gotta address it straight up. No beating around the bush. Shine a light on what needs fixing through the right channels. It's about keeping our creative game real, respecting the hustle of those who grind for their art. We're rolling together, making sure our scene stays true to the core, even when we gotta sort out some issues on the way.

Just a lovely story. Talented, humble and just so down to earth. I'm sure his grandma is so proud. His paintings are so life like. I love the contrast of the gritty subway, every day hard working people doing their daily routine and having it appreciated and purchased by the elite. Some of which may have never been in the subway.Continued success Devon. You have brightened up many a dull subway ride for so many.

I absolutely love Devon. He did go to a fine art school and has a classical education, though. So when he was drawing people on the subway at 15, that was an assignment. There's something reminiscent of the Candyman remake with his team and the reporting that they want to portray him as some poor kid from broken Brooklyn home that just started drawing people one day, and I don't think that's positive for people who look up to him.

Art gives people such joy. It is a stitch in the human tapestry of what we are ; culture, pride, history, awe, beauty.
It’s a shame it’s valued so little in our educational system. By the money crunchers and the politicians they puppet.
One party appreciates it more than the other, and tries, sure. But the outcome remains the same.

In the art scene, realness and accountability are the deal-breakers. It's all about keeping the integrity of our craft tight. So, let's stand up for the standards, bigging up the artists who grind hard and put their heart and soul into what they create.
Now, if there's some real talk about an issue, like accusations of lying about speed and staged situations, we gotta address it straight up. No beating around the bush. Shine a light on what needs fixing through the right channels. It's about keeping our creative game real, respecting the hustle of those who grind for their art. We're rolling together, making sure our scene stays true to the core, even when we gotta sort out some issues on the way.

Sad that what he does is FAKE, his videos are staged with actors.
Only none artists would believe that you can draw that precis on a train, being filmed and that no one would notice it.

@@jdos5643 the question is not if he can draw and paint, he can.
But he's LYING to his fans about the process. Hi pretends that he paints strangers on a bumpy metro ride, which he doesn't.
He paints it at home and then he met up with the person again on the train with the completed drawing.

I've enjoyed watching his videos but I have to be honest that it looks too staged. How can he spend upwards of twenty minutes drawing the person who isn't aware of it? There had to be a few who might've objected to him drawing them. And the train is never crowded. If that was me I would've noticed someone sitting directly across from me drawing my image. But congrats to his budding career.

What you guys think he’s better than da Vinci. He’s either two things. A savant or a fraud. Either way he’s not creative as far the creative masters go and you can check out what Frank Frazetta said. If you want to impress me, you have to be good composition. Look up the word artist in the dictionary it is a creative person copying what you see on the train is not very creative especially if you are gifted . He will never be famous outside of his little train trick. His oils will never be worth millions like franks Alex Ross, Neil Adams these are creative people.
There are many of people on 42nd St. that do this and around the world. What’s worse if you really take a look, it looks like a photograph not a drawing. Why would anybody want that? Use a camera lol I’m being facetious there but really where is the creativity and making it look exactly like the person?

"so not what the art world deems as traditional" I think he means in regard to modern spoiled artists who come from rich families and go to RISD and whose parents put them up in New York. The history of art is littered with struggling poverty stricken artists. Van Gogh sold one painting in his entire lifetime for instance. The modern art world is analogous to modern sports. It wasn't that long ago that athletes were paid very poorly. Now they're getting almost billion dollar contracts. The modern art world has become the opposite end of the spectrum, is absurd and filled with spoiled artists who feel entitled to live not only well but rich. Where once you had people like Caravaggio you now have living parodies of artists who are more akin to pampered caviar eating poodles.
