I'll take changing this battery over trying to change sparkplugs in a Ford any day. I'm not tall enough (had to stand on a stool), and not as strong as the man in the video, but at least I didn't need special tools. Thank goodness for videos like this.

I just did this job yesterday. If you remove the vertical part of the cross brace assembly at its lower mount (the cross brace will come out as a "T" shape), you can get the battery in without messing with the coolant jug. Hope this helps. Great video and thanks for posting.

Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I find it always helpful if I know what has to be done and in what the sequence is for this sort of job. You did a great job with that. I did find that it was easier for me to get the black box on top of the battery (junction box for the wires and maybe fuses or circuit breakers) out of the way by just removing the negative wires connected as well as the positive wire from the battery. It then would move up and over the support post for the structural crosspiece more easily. Also, getting the right (forward) screw out that holds down the coolant container was fairly easy with a knuckle joint (like a U-joint) on the end of an extension for the socket wrench to get the 10 mm screw out and back in. I did not have a ratcheting box wrench for this.

To make it easier to remove and replace the battery (if the battery has no handle) use a ratchet strap rigged around the center of the battery once it is disconnected from the holder tray. Circle the battery with the strap and tighten it. This will give you something to hold onto to take the battery in/out.

Removing the air filter housing is the best route to go. It takes literally 5 minutes more to take it off but then makes it easy to get to the mounting bolts for the coolant reservoir and then you can undo the positive connections and the fender brace keeping the vertical brace attached and just disconnecting wire harness clips to allow the bar to be completely removed then you have complete access to the battery and hold down. you also can slide the battery out where you can get hold of the attached handle or if you don't have a handle you could use a non conductive battery lifter to get the battery out of the bay. I think it took about the same amount of time for me to do this as it did to watch the video as they did it. I even had to stop and think if I forgot something because it went so smooth.
Here is the "HOW TO" I created after having done this task. Let me know what you think.
    Tools and parts needed:
Battery - group 94R, H7-AGM or DLG for an OEM exact fit
    5/16 in nut driver
    10 mm socket with extensions 6”, 12”.
13 mm socket and extension 12”
Step stool, even for tall guys this helps for gaining leverage to lift the battery
    Procedure:
1 - Using a 10 mm socket and extension disconnect the negative terminal.
2 - Using a 5/16 in nut driver unscrew the retaining screws for the top cover of the air cleaner.
3 - Using a 10 mm nut driver loosen the bolt retaining the front fender brace and move to access the air cleaner housing.
4 - Remove the air cleaner top and filter
5 - Disconnect the MAPS sensor on the air cleaner housing.
6 - Using a 5/16 in nut driver loosen the banding clamp for the air cleaner to the air duct to the engine and remove the upper housing. Remove the air filter
7 - Carefully pry up the lower air cleaner housing, this is held down with 2 grommet posts towards the engine and a clip that slides into place when you slip the housing into the air intake position.
8 - Remove the lower air cleaner housing
9 - Unbolt the 10 mm bolt and 10 mm nut holding the coolant reservoir in place, lift off the rear threaded post and slide forward allowing access to the battery.
10 - Unbolt the 2, 13 mm bolts holding the top cross member of the fender support and the lower 13 mm bolt of the vertical brace.
11 - Release the wire harness clip attachment to the vertical post and remove the brace.
12 - Using a 10 mm socket disconnect the positive terminal on the battery.
13 - Remove the cover for the positive buss bar and carefully pry the bus bar assembly housing off the top of the battery, try releasing the side closest to the fender first then lift it up and towards the engine bay to get it to release and set it out of the way.
14 - Unbolt the 13 mm bolt and remove the battery hold down block.
Slide the battery out away from the fire wall and lift out.
15 - Take time to clean up any debris in the holding area and the surrounding engine bay and any corrosion on the terminals.
16 - Install the new battery, be sure the terminals are on the fender side and the positive terminal is towards the front of the truck.
17 - Install the hold down bracket and tighten the bolt.
18 - Attach the positive buss bar assembly to the battery.
19 - Reinstall the fender brace with the vertical support and tighten the 3 bolts securely.
20 - Reattach the wire harness retaining clip.
21 - Replace the coolant bottle on the rear post and secure the 10 mm nut and the front 10 mm bolt tightly.
22 - Reinstall the lower air cleaner housing seat the grommet posts holding it in place.
23 - Reinstall the filter and replace the cover be sure to seat the housing completely inside the intake duct, secure the banding clamp, connect the MAPS sensor connector and secure the retaining screws for the top housing.
24 - Replace the front fender brace and the 10 mm bolt tighten securely.
25 - Connect the positive terminal and tighten carefully.
26 - Connect the negative terminal of the battery tighten carefully.
27 - Remove any tools and residual from the engine bay. and clean up area before proceeding to start the vehicle.
28 - Start vehicle and follow reset prompts.
29 - Navigation, radio presets and a few other programmable features may need to be reconfigured.
30 - Don't forget to recycle your old battery.

I just went mostly by your video on my 2015 Tahoe. Couple things... the coolant tank? Only the nut closest to battery needs to be removed, not both (and entire coolant tank). Also, you forgot to mention brace pad when removing old battery... only when installing new battery did you add that part.
Lesson learned for me: buy an ratchet extension... it's a headache using regular tools without extensions given how Chevrolet stuck the battery in such a tight spot. (That distribution box is its own joke. I guess it's good if you plan on having a massive stereo system in your Tahoe but useless for me.)

By the brace pad, do you mean the part he's talking about at 3:24?
He doesn't mention it directly, but mentions removing the 13mm bolt, and shows removing the clamp.
He then mentions it by name when replacing it at the end.

“Unfortunately somebody removed the handle” that would have been gm. Really unfortunate.

Always disconnect the ground cable first then you don't have to worry that you may short the positive cable to the frame. Always disconnect the ground cable first when removing a battery and always connect it last on the install.

Negative OFF first, negative ON last. On that tray over the battery, there is a fuse that will blow with just a tiny screw up. Don't risk it - negative on - the very last thing!

You don't have to remove the coolant reserve .. remove that other bar by the tie down and you can wiggle the battery in and out the H6 is way easier then the H7 but after a few it's simplish

I'm lucky I didn't have to completely remove the coolant reservoir only one bolt. Still though for a chevy silverado, it doesn't need to be this unnecessarily complicated to remove a battery. Is it difficult, not really, just unnecessary. It took me all of 15 minutes to replace.

I just my new battery in and after starting the truck up, it asked me to lower and raise the driver's side window. I did that, then the truck shut off. I disconnected the negative terminal, waited a few seconds, tried again and the same thing happened.

Found it easier to remove all connections on top of the battery. Remove the lower L brace and move out of the way. Then wiggle the battery out through there. Didn’t have to remove coolant reservoir This way.

Did it the same way, Omar.
I did loosen the coolant jug so it had some wiggle room, but avoided having to move it out of the way entirely.

It is way easier to do this if you just remove the airbox. Easier to unbolt the coolant tank, slide it to the side. And while you have that apart, install a new air filter.

just a footnote here... my MAIN battery died ( pass side back one i have 2 batteries in my truck) my truck is a 2014 silverado 2500 hd i called a few places to replace battery was told its was very expensive battery to replace... so im not that stupid... so i went online to watch many videos and noticed there were many different mounting setups... anyway my silverado had the half circle bracket on firewall to fender a different battery box on top of battery but came off truck okey no problems until i finished installed new battery... after patting myself on my back because i saved myself an arm and leg doing it myself i started the truck ... yes it started i said cool...but then the problem all my presets memory was lost no big deal ill just reset them right... wrong by disconnecting the battery it set off the anti thief security system in factory radio was asking to input code.. i had no code to input... so i had to go back to dealer... they asked for my vin number i gave them they looked it up in their computer got the code to reset radio it worked.. they billed me 125.00 for 15 minutes of work... i bitched but paid them but this was a business truck and i only like chevy trucks and was in the process's of buying 2 new silverado's plow trucks from this dealership needless to say i canceled the purchases from that dealership and would you believe the shop manager chased after me trying to refund my 125.00 dollars back.. and yes i took it back but still canceled the trucks purchases from them. ps i now know there is a tool to buy to keep this from happen but none of the videos i watched pointed this out. so next time i will still do it myself the right way.

This is sad that it’s this hard to remove a battery these days. They really don’t want you doing anything with your vehicle anymore. “Bring it to the dealership and they’ll get you a new one” 🙄.
