In this video I demonstrate how to record audio with a CoreAudio USB audio interface and microphone, how to set up audio interfaces, use take folders, and edit with the Split Tool in Logic Pro for iPad. Do you think you can make a video about how to stretch an acapella without sounding smurfy? There is no good tutorial on the internet and I think you are the only one who can do it. Thank you
Very useful! I'm thinking of switching from Cubasis. Am I right in thinking that you can both nudge and lock the various regions (the slices you created) of your takes? Not having lock regions in Cubasis is a real deal-breaker, since I run the risk of not noticing microscopic timing changes that then wreck my mix down the line.
Wish comping worked how it does in logic for desktop. The slice tool is a workaround for now but is cumbersome. On desktop you can just drag the takes you want without all the fuss. Also, you can 100% do crossfades and such. Look into the inspector.
...or you could just quickly export/import to a two track audio editor like Wavelab or Sound Forge. Or throw an expander across the track...Unless you're producing songs that are 100% audio loops, and most of those loops are coming from newbies, crossfades aren't necessary most of the time. In my experience - and 20 years ago, I used Acid Pro (audio loops) exclusively.
@@russell_szabados when you’re looking to edit vocals, crossfades are a must. It’s hard to achieve seamless edits between volume and power if you need to use 2 different fade outs and ins. It’s achievable but takes far to long when it could just be added. Also To take all your audio out of the daw and use another third party app, to then bring it back in and reorganise is inefficient on storage, and overall file size for the project not to mention a headache to do. You’re also screwed if that app you rely on suddenly stopped being supported. I’m sure they’ll add crossfades later but was a massive loss to people that wanted to use the daw as a dedicated audio editor like the desktop version.
@@cured_bacon647 that’s not crossfading it’s simple fade in and outs only. Auria is the only app to successfully implement Crossfading on iPad but they no longer develop the daw. Silly things like no crossfades or the ability to add you’re own fonts in Final Cut are just strange but necessary things to include. I have no doubt they’ll come in upcoming updates.
What I’m missing is Control Surface support. I’m used to my Novation LaunchKey MK3 transport controls and faders. Not sure, but the limitations for Control Surface integration are based in iOS (not Logic). Any ideas?
I remember this lyric from a very old tutorial series of yours where a female sang the lyric. Man it was and still is an amazing tutorial series and a great track. Thank you so much as always.
I’m confused. Did you watch the whole video? He’s at least trying to give you an option. It’s not his fault that Apple hasn’t added quick swipe comping on ipad.
Think I may end up continuing to use Cubasis 3 for ipad. It's set just makes more sense. Plus using your own samples is much easier. Logic Pro for ipad is just not ready yet, the settings hardly has anything either. Wish you could double tap to open up a midi region to access the piano roll. It's set up has slowed down my work flow drastically. It's got the same midi bugs as the desktop version too and there's no chase midi in the project settings.

Nicely explained! No other iOS DAW offers comping, little alone the quick swiping, so really Logic for iPad is still miles ahead of the competition.
"sorry I don't have a great voice", then proceeds to slay the mic :)

Thank you for explaining this!
Thank you so much for this tutorial.
You have a nice voice, very good vibrato.
Great clear explanation. Hope you do a lot of Logic Pro on iPad for TH-cam.
Helped a lot thank you.
can you explain what are you using to connect the interface? what should we buy?
Thanks mate for this. I was just wondering, are there any specific audio interfaces that the iPad Logic Pro functions better7worse with?

Soooo. What is quick swipe comping?

Crossfades need adding for audio recording to be more efficient.

You can do crossfades its just different than logic on desktop. You have to use the inspector for fades and crossfades

What about tempo changes?
Does it have midi learn?

3:06 lmao
Are you plugging your interface into yout iPad? Can you use a real mic with j st the iPad or do you need a computer
Yes. At 0:41 I demonstrate how to setup your audio interface. Logic for iPad supports just about all core audio USB audio interfaces.
I remember this lyric from a very old tutorial series of yours where a female sang the lyric. Man it was and still is an amazing tutorial series and a great track. Thank you so much as always.
What if I don’t have a MacBook?
So the tools are different than the desktop logic? ….like the scissors ….that’s more like a GarageBand ….cut/split
so no you can’t “still do comping” if you gotta take it another program. That is NOT what comping in the app is, thats external smh
😅😊

Is there flex pitch?
No Flex Pitch or Flex Time yet.
I still can't record nothing

Used to only use cubasis and it worked although it needs work. Logic already shits all over it however and will only continue to do so.
