Sourav Naskar, Hindi is slowly and steadily wiping out your Bengali language. Also other Indian languages. I'm from Goa and my language is Konkani, all migrants settling here except from the Hindi speaking states instead of learning and adopting Konkani are forcing locals to speak their language claiming that Hindi is national language. Similar is the story in other Non-Hindi speaking states. In a multi-lingual country when one language is claimed to be the national or official language and only that language is promoted by the central Govt. as in the case of India, usage of other languages slowly gets reduced and finally eliminated. Already many people in my state don't know Konkani despite being native as they think that English to speak all over the world and Hindi to speak in other states of India is enough.. Which is a depressing thing.. Diversity is dying a slow death..

My grandparents from Trinidad, they can speak a few Hindi phrases. I lived in Guyana and did not meet anyone who could speak Hindi. I am currently in Suriname and the older generation do speak Hindi, but many younger ones do not. Suriname will loose it's Hindi language in a generation, the country is taking no educational route to preserve this dying language. I would say Fiji is the best here. I have many friends from Fiji and the language is thriving there. It is even spoken by none Indians. In short there will be no Hindi in the western hemisphere. Suriname do something before it's too late.

I think we need to primarily know two languages in India. One, our mother tongue and second English. Why English? For inter state communication and also communicating with those abroad. Anyways most parents prefer sending their children to English medium schools including those from Hindi speaking states
Suriname has Bihari slaves brought by British to work in cane fields. VP of Suriname is of Indian origin. BTW, Nepalese do not speak Hindi, at least in majority. We have Bihari, UPean, and Marwari immigrants that speak Hindi. But linguistically, Hindi and Nepali languages are almost the same, both having root to Prakrit and Sanskrit.

Nepalease speak Nepali not Hindi and only few of them living in India-Nepal border speak in Hindi not everyone in nepal speak Hindi..Indians should mind this "Nepal was never a part of India instead most part of India present now was territory of Nepal","Nepal was founded in 1500BC by Gopal Bansa "when existence of India was never known",Buddha was born in Nepal not in India, building fake lumbini doesn't change reality"..Nepal was most powerful country and had fought with China in 1788 till 1792 and had won the war"."India should never try to occupy our land"..We are now coward becoz of Nepal ashhole government who are broker of Rich Indian government..If I'll be PM my first step will be shutting Filthy Indian Government mouth who keeps on interrupting Nepal in each and every aspects...Developing and buying nukes and attacking India if they show rout behavior to us...
Lakhs of indian labours were taken to south american countries from 1830 to 1917. They worked very hard, also retained indian culture, till 1930s hindi and bhojpuri language was cumpulsurily spoken there ,now of course it's perished ,that is very unfortunate, many radio stations in suriname and west indies still broad cast hindi programs, for more help search you tube, you would get all information and fall in love with our lost indian brothers.

How come Pakistan is left here,. They speak mainly Urdu. Urdu is the mother tongue of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh in India which the Pakistan made as their national language. but there is hardly much difference between Urdu and Hindi
Anitha Prasad Urdu is the Mother tongue of UP? 😂 UP is Hindu state with CM as Yogi Adityanath and majority of the people speaks Hindi only a little amount of muslim people speak Urdu and they also know Hindi.... . Hindi originated from Sanskrit and even before Urdu... . Urdu is nothing more than a language which is originated from Hindi and Sanskrit words and some words which were originated by Muslims named it as Urdu.... !!!
Akash Deepak No. Many Hindu speak Urdu. they cant read and write but in day to day language Most Hindus of Uttar Pradesh and other North Indian states also speak a mixture of Hindu and Urdu. like for pomegranet... Hindi word is दाढ़िमफल but most people call it anar अनार which is Urdu word...
Akash Deepak I said mother tongue of Muslims in UP dude 😀 but whether Hindi or Urdu together which is Hindustani is spoken by most Indians and Pakistanis. like how Mayank told it has become a mixture what people speak. But my point is Urdu is originated from India from Hindi and Sanskrit if I am not wrong. My point is that they made it their national language but it was originated in India that's what I wanted to say here directly or indirectly that they say that they have Arab ancestry but use every stuff from their motherland which includes Punjabi, Sindhi, Gujarati as well I guess and the Indian tradition.
Now Hindi is not pure..Hindi speakers use Urdu words more than Hindi..look at Bollywood movies and songs...cz Urdu is a sweet language. Hindi badtameez zaban ha... :P
45% of india's population knows hindi.....completely wrong......42% people have hindi as their mother tongue(check in 2011 census results) and apart from these most others can speak or understand hindi but it definitely is more than 45%

A proud Indian!
We should proud on our fundamental language *Sanskrit* and on derived language *Hindi*.
Bhutan should also be in the list, if not then in my heart.
Suriname do something before it's too late.
all hindustani people can speak hindi in suriname u dont know shit. but the newer generation likes to speak dutch mostly
Sri Lanka is just 32 kms away from india..but we don't speak Hindi.. 99.9% speak Sinhalese..proud to be a Sri Lankan...!!!

Kaise hai😁😁
Yes,I'm a native Fijian Girl And I can speak Fiji Hindi but Hindi which is spoke in India I can understand what is being said but cannot say it.
Hello Badhiya hai hum!
It's good that you know indian language 😀
I think we need to primarily know two languages in India. One, our mother tongue and second English. Why English? For inter state communication and also communicating with those abroad. Anyways most parents prefer sending their children to English medium schools including those from Hindi speaking states
I am from Armenia and I also little hindi.
Mauritian people speak hindi
Suriname has Bihari slaves brought by British to work in cane fields. VP of Suriname is of Indian origin. BTW, Nepalese do not speak Hindi, at least in majority. We have Bihari, UPean, and Marwari immigrants that speak Hindi. But linguistically, Hindi and Nepali languages are almost the same, both having root to Prakrit and Sanskrit.
Although Guyanese. T&T people are Indian race but they don't talk in hindi. They speak English and creol languages. Even they read holy Geeta in English. And Suriname people are Indian race as well but they speak the Dutch language.

lots of love to hindi language , from madhesh. We madheshi have many local language like maithali, bhojpuri, abdhi, donwaari .... but our connecting(common) language is hindi. I speek my mothertongue maithali at my home but use hindi in market.

A.M Skar.. I'm not a Nepali now I'm a Aussie and I'm busy typing for you along with doing my job so,their might be mistakes in writing, you didn't understand my English lol..xa xa...poor gay gaby get back to your primary school...Indians are found in nepal bitch doing 3rd class work...as well as in Australia too..and do you know Australia 1$ is equivalent to 62 INR..so sad your currency is so very weak...I really appreciate that nepal is a poor and undeveloped country and I don't deny with that...Idiot we know well what your Indian rescue team did when they came Nepal and finally Don't blame USA when your wife gets pregnant.....
No one could be more retarded than Endians😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂....
A.M Skar. How much can you speak doltish boy..I didn't go regular with your answer though whatever came direct to my eye I'm answering that..Tell me that what a person should call himself when he gets citizenship of Australia,I find most of the PR Indians working with me and calling themselves Aussie..and keep your example with you..Talking about currency rates they weekly fall and raise and You're too poor boy to understand and afford my language so it's better you can frame it and read it when you're matured..Comparing Nepal and India is not fare..So I compared Australia and India..I'm not taking any credit of being an Aussie..I wanted to clarify that comparison should be between same level..It's pretty sad to look at you people thinking your country is good.Yes It might be good to you but very wrost to us..We know what your rich government has done in past and till now, which makes us very easy to get offended towards you...and Talking about Australia vs India..I don't want to do that so just make your move out of this you surely gonna lose..Yala yolo
A.M Skar.Though I am Australian now,I love my native land more than Australia.....So I can talk way I like being Australian or Nepali...
Why all are praising one regional language (HINDI) to be a national language..???
I am Indian but I don't speak Hindi
I speak assamese 😂😂😂
??? ??? Good for you,,,😂😂

Until I was 10 or 12 I cant even differienciate between Hindi and Urdu.
Anitha Prasad
Urdu is the Mother tongue of UP?
Mayank Singh Rajput
Most of the words are Hindi... They don't speak Urdu... Only Few words they use even in Urdu, majority of the words are of Hindi
U guys forgot pakistan
45% of india's population knows hindi.....completely wrong......42% people have hindi as their mother tongue(check in 2011 census results) and apart from these most others can speak or understand hindi but it definitely is more than 45%
