Those 3 boots are pretty specific in their construction, comfort, durability, rebuildability, support, and service application. With options such as roughout, different lace hook arrangements, different tongue designs, and steel or other shanks. (Important in firefighting, where you don't want metal in the boot because you are on hot ground.) Now let me say this: I was raised with a couple of wrong ideas about shoes and boots. But when I was in forestry school and beginning forestry work, I started listening to the old hands, who like to talk about their boots and boot experiences. The first thing I found out was, the foot measuring device in Redwing and other shoe stores was quite wrong about my feet. I got bigger boots and wider boots. And changed my sock configuration. Here I was in my 20s and for the first time ever my feet were happy. I love my dear mother, but she was wrong about my foot size and configuration. (Remember, the lady in this video talked about foot configuration, though she didn't call it that? But she was right.) Also, money was always in short supply. Though I aspired to White Co. boots, (or the like,) I had to be content with Redwings. But that's not a put down. With the size adjustment and good care, I HAVE been happy in Redwing logger boots since the late 1970s. You just need to learn about boots, boot care, and your own feet. For leather care and waterproofing I have used Huberds shoe grease, or oil. Huberds from McMinville, Oregon. Actually you do have a choice. Compare the company in this video with Whites in Spokane, and the companies in Wranglerstar videos. You just need to learn and compare. Happy feet may be ahead for you. Just take the steps. :-)
Michael Dougfir im sure they can make what ever you want if you have the money they have the time. These are customized boots that are made just for your feet to last a life time if you take care of them
Interesting she mentioned flat feet.. I used to have bone spurs. I wore orthotic inserts for close to 2 years.. I always had a pair of cowboy boots that I'd wear occasionally. I've been wearing cowboy boots every day (to work, etc..) for about 8-9 years now.. never had a single issue with flat feet or bone spurs again. I'd LOVE to get a pair custom made.. some day.
This is an interesting video. I’m just now getting into custom boot, shoe and sandal making. Im learning it slow; step by step and on my own other than watching every video I come across; taking only a few concepts from each video. I’ve noticed; most custom boot makers don’t really design for use. They design for looks while standing, sitting or on a shelf. I’m going to build from the direction of use and see what happens. A welder needs a different boot than a guy in a saddle or tree climber. A guy climbing a mountain needs a different design than a guy in the desert or rain forest. I’m an offshore diver and the boots we wear on rigs mean certain death if you fall overboard; their too damn heavy and too difficult to get off when wet. That’s bs.
ardy productions my real job is that of a commercial diver; which includes video work on every project. However I do appreciate the offer. I build my own gear and sew everything myself. So; it’s kinda natural to try to commercialize our talents. I am learning though and am in no rush. Quality is my concern; speed will come with experience.

I disliked this video because I was hoping to see the boot making process. Instead it was a very nice lady talking and a couple very short clips of the boot making process which didn’t really show anything.
If it takes them 40 hours to make a boot. Plus materials, plus the overhead, machine repairs, rent, electric bill, employee benefits, taxes, ect. How much is your time personally worth? You want $200 boots, then they are making $5 an hour. One of the things that has hurt us in the United States (maybe world wide?) is cheap consumerism. We want nice things cheap. We aren't willing to pay a professional anymore. We want to be paid and make a nice wage but still want our things for cheap made by others. It's a strange duality to think about . A basic pair of their boots are affordable if calculating cost per wear over the 5-10-15 years like Joe Rausch said below. Just the initial cost for someone who gets paid every 2 weeks would be around $30 a week saved from 26 paychecks. Maybe not everyone can do this. I understand. But it's just a different visualization for you. Hopefully this helped. Have a great 2021

Boots might last 100 years if you don’t wear them... I’ve wore handmade cowboy boots, Justin, Chippewa, and many other cowboy boots. When you cowboy, work, and log timber daily no boot last too long. The longest lasting pair I’ve had and still wear just over 3 years daily is China made ariats. I challenge any factory or handmade boot maker that can make a pair outlast my ariats with the abuse I put them through. They are also the cheapest pair of boots I’ve ever bought.
Red wing makes a good boot and mine have lasted 6 years and going and I work construction and yes they make a steel toe and composite toe cowboy boots.

For example I have a couple pair of redwings that have lasted several years so far and they are still solid but I have had to resole them and I take good care of them. Even though I am extremely hard on them, working in them everyday, I make sure to coean them and re-oil then as needed. If you take care of the leather and resole them they will last a long time. I think her point was if you taie care of then they will last 100 years. You may have to have then repaired but the leather itself should last that long and as long as the leather lasts the boot will to.

I've had some of those other boots before, ya they will last you many years, but why not just buy this shoe for a lifetime of quality?

For me in the oilfield redwings last a little longer but ariats are more comfortable
