    They should just use pin jumper. This is bad design.

    Just so y’all know, you can usually pull two antennas from one laptop is you have a dead one lying around.
    Both are usually located in the bezel of the laptop and have one wire each leading down to a small WiFi board attached to the laptop’s motherboard

    In the second method, the resistor is not necessary?

    • @prohurtz
      @prohurtz ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The resistor is a 0 ohm resistor (no resistance) so it is equivalent to just shorting the pads

    Hey, thanks for the video.
    I just went and bought the recommended parts and figured I'd take a look through the guide to see what I'm getting into. Quick question, do the XIAO ESP32-S3 Sense Modules that are currently recommended still need this kind of work done on them to avoid interference with Vive trackers if I'm planning on using it wired anyways?

      @prohurtz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      they don't need this, you just plug in the included antenna and you are good to go! If using wired mode, you don't even need the antennas connected at all

    Very helpful. I think I just need better tools at this point. I'm like 90% sure the "flux" that shipped with my kit is just candle wax at this point lol

    Does anyone know where the left contact goes? I accidentally ripped the pad out. the middle one is fine

    Ok, I had a problem. The connection from the metal cover (where the esp32 is located) is ruined. There is no solder left in that connection. And I couldn't solder it with the external antenna connection.

    why dont they just add a little dip to it -.-

      They know a lot of people will try to desolder and will accidentally destroy their camera and end up buying another one.

    Damn the second method is so hard. A lot of solder went into the hole where the antenna is supposed to be inserted... now my board is broken...

    • @adicsbtw
      @adicsbtw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it definitely takes some learning. I just spent like 4 hours trying to do it to 10 boards, and I'm at a 4/10 success rate right now. They're all recoverable, just not functional. In your case, you can likely use a solder pump to get the solder out. Also, make sure You're not using too much solder. You just want a bit in the pads, and a tiny bit on the iron itself so that it almost looks like the iron is melted, and not that there's solder on it. Then, just put the iron on one pad for a second, then drag it across to the other. Just keep dragging it a few times. Check under a magnifying glass if you can't tell if it's working or not. If it doesn't work, you can try putting a bit more solder on the iron. Just small amounts until it works, nothing drastic
