Not enough snow for the trails to open just yet so I decided to do some ditch bangin' with a friend. Turns out I wasn't just bangin ditches but a few trees as well.
Good thing he didn’t stick a culvert like I did back in 99. Totaled my sled and broke some bones. Didn’t ride for 5 years after that. I finally got back into riding again but at a much slower pace. 23 years later I still have pain in my back and right shoulder from it. SLOW DOWN and enjoy the outdoors and fresh air.

I count about 18 times in 4 minutes where I *think* you were going to wreak into something, only for it to be an instance of gunning it and praying v.s. Slowing down and using your 159” track to climb out of the ditch. This is totally wreak less, I hope some lessons were learned here
He would of hit brakes and either slid sideways and rolled it into the trees or he would of hit brakes and it would of pulled him straight into the trees just a little slower and with him still on it. I would of bailed just like he did or got thrown off whatever.

Clint .R we all have plenty of toys you just don’t ride in this little of snow general rule of thumb is a foot min . Your just tearing up your sled and the trails regardless of track this is just taking it to extreme stupid with a mountain sled and paddle track.
Wow. I've seen (and done) some stupid things. But this takes the cake. Someone needs to stay out of the throttle until they develop more skills. Even then ditch banging is no place for WOT runs.
When your sled can barely make a slow turn like at the start of the vid(and throughout the video), bc it pushes so bad. Having any form of handling thrashing around at too high of speed for the conditions and terrain is a head scratcher to me. Lol
Guess you learned a valuable lesson. It hurts to be a dummy, especially when you likely knew better in the first place. It usually takes an incident like this to figure out you are not immortal. Be thankful it is just your sled broken and not your legs or neck. Show us the aftermath and the repair. Glad you did not end up like I did 6 hours in surgery followed by 2 years of physical rehabilitation therapy. I was off work for 3 years.

The most basic fundamental riding technique taught in EVERY motorcycle/ ATV / snowmobile riders course . Look up , look ahead and focus on your intended path of travel , not the obstacles.
Exactly...I always tell my son who is new to riding....don't try to keep up to me EVER. just focus on what you're doing and look where you want to go. If I take off on you....don't chase me.

have you ever been in a situation like that? When something starts to go wrong a lot of people panic and squeeze the throttle more and than stuff like this happens. kinda like a deer in headlights
Also sometimes I have found with older sleds when I’m in a sticky situation if I hit the gas harder and try to pull the sled a certain direction it is easier then slowing down and sliding deep into the ditch
Darryl Cudahy sometimes I find with older sleds like this it is easier to give it some juice while trying to get out of a situation like that because of how hard it can be to maneuver tightly on a slope.
Well the good news is you’re ok and I’m sure that won’t happen again… hopefully if you’ve learned the lesson here . Slow down , look ahead , anticipate the hazard and focus on where you want to go , not the obstacle.
Need to learn how to lean the sled, use the throttle and some opposite lock to get yourself out of that slide down the hill. Should be on one running board pulling the sled towards the road. Youre steering into the hill, which anyone who has ridden a snowmobile knows wont work in fresh powder on a hill
That sucks, that’s a good example of what I keep warning my girlfriend can happen in the deeper shit on the edge of the trail grabbing you and pulling you in. The same exact thing almost happened to me yesterday when I was fucking around an the edge of the trail
Out of control. Guy just has more money or debt than experience. You just slow down, slam the brakes and angle the sled up. Then give it hell getting out. Especially I'd theres not enough snow for the trails to be open. Please stay on your side of the trail.
