Dacre Montgomery is an amazing actor. That single tear falling down his face near the end of his monologue showing that the real Billy is still there trapped inside is genius level.
Steve's group is the perfect culmination of iconic and I loved every minute with them. I also like that if you look into Billy's eyes, you can always see him hesitating or fearful. Even if his body language is angry or enraged, one look in his eyes and you can see him there. Like Will last season. Even when the Flayer had most of his body under control, he was still able to send messages in code and recognize important people in his life(Joyce, Jonathan, and Mike). Which must feel so awful. To know that your body isn't under your control anymore. Watching as it moves according to something otherworldly. But still trying to reach out to them.
You guys are the first reactors to put the Erica and Dustin nerd conversation in a video and I love you for it. It’s one of my favorite scenes and no one ever put it in their edit.❤
The reason I love the Mind Flayer as a villain, especially in this season, is the fact that despite Eleven ragdolling it with her mind across the room, it likely does very little to no damage as it can easily reform and adapt. It genuinely feels like an unstoppable force to Eleven being the immovable object
Spot on! The Mind Flayer is probably one of my favourite villains of all time, at least through seasons 2 and 3. Sort of like the book version of IT/Pennywise. Totally unknowable and absolutely awesome.
It's meant to evoke similar ideas with cosmic horror similar to Cthulhu. The scary thing is that there is no character or any real understanding. I also enjoy the idea in both season 2 and 3 that there was no killing this thing just closing the door. Makes it more deadly

But in an actual show I find it more interesting when a villain has a personality and motivations. Especially when we can explore the nature of their villainy.
That whole sequence of Billy talking to El, to the flayed moving towards the warehouse, to them then horrifically melting into flesh goop and the music playing? Cinema *chef's kiss*

E Pluribus Unum - the original motto of the USA. It means "out of many, one." Which is great for a national motto, but the mind flayer uses it a bit more literally.
Idk why everyone don’t trust Hopper and think he is stupid, I still haven’t seen a reactor trust him. They literally showed us in the first scenes of this season how the Terminator killed the scientist and Alexei saw it, of course he is scared of them. In most shows like this 9/10 times the cops are trash and stupid asf, Hopper is one of the few that is smart.
It doesn't help they have him acting really irrational this season compared to the first 2. He is smart, but they wrote him like an idiot for this season.

Man, those scenes in the hospital, so intense. That Mindflayer, so gross. I love you're description in the previous episode, a "blood booger with so many teeth", an apt description. While I've seen many horror scenes set in hospitals, this is probably one of the best I've seen, right up there cinematicly. And Alexi is one of my favourite characters, so far in the series, if only more of the Russians weren't more like him. By the way, that "Terminaror" like character in this series is actually a Ukrainian actor IRL his name is Andrey Ivchenko.
The scene of Billy's past trauma was beautifully shot with the specials effects in the background - all that turbulent wind, lightning strikes, & swirling angry red clouds give us a visual representation of the chaotic childhood he suffered & how that manifested into his personality over the years. Now we know why he turned into such a violent abusive rage fueled racist bully. That flashback of his childhood will play an important role later on. 🙃
I never got that he was racist. The first time billy sees lucas he was arguing with him. I always got that lucas reminded him of his dad because of the arguing.
I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure Robin was a completely different character in Season 3 than how she was in Season 4. In Season 3 she was smug and badass, but in Season 4 she seemed kind of clumsy and timid.
I don't think you have been watching trailers before each season but definitely DO NOT watch any trailers for Season 4!!! Hell don't even read anything about Season 4. Too many spoilers

Weirdly, that is the reason I don't like the Mind Flayer as a villain. There is nothing to it. It isn't even a character, it is just...an evil force.

More experienced and practical then intelligent, but yes. He's really got an anger problem though, which makes him act irrationally.
