I work in hvac now and enjoy it but have always and still am drawn to heavy equipment mechanic. Is the field worth it? How is the pay ? Do you think ev will phase out heavy equipment diesel mechanics? Love the channel guys keep it up

When you rebuild a engine or have a engine rebuild how long should you go before the first oil change to make sure everything is clean on the inside?? Or just do the normal 12k miles

What brand of 1 inch impact you are using please tell us
Did you put loctite 609 on those cam gears and use a feeler gauge to set the lash?
Sorry it took us a bit to get back to you. We used engine assembly lube and yes we adjusted the gear last on episode three I think.
I think the tapered shaft you are referring to from the manual called for it to be dry and clean with no lock tight.
I don’t know much about the big trucks, but I’ve never put loctite on cam or crank gears.
David Oles, it’s not actually on the gear teeth but the inside diameter of both camshaft gears to seal it to the nose of both camshafts. In the field we just say gears because it’s easier. It’s used to prevent the engine slipping time, possibly causing a valve making contact with a piston. Or cause excessive smoke, running rough conditions, excessive fuel usage, etc..
Ah ok I figured you were talking about putting loctite on the camshaft gear bolt.
