  • Just got the Chauvet Q-Spot 260 LED, no other reviews so I thought I'd take it for a spin.
**Prices are correct as of the time of recording 9/22/10**

Had 6 of these delivered today, fired them up, and they are unbelievable ! LED technology has come a long way! We will be using these for a national band based in Chicago in venues with all size stages .Will run them with my DMX board, get to start the programming tomorrow, for the first time in years ,I'm actually looking forward to doing this! These lights are AWESOME! Great job on the review video as well! Thanks! Eric, Devilstar Productions, rock band AVM, Songwerks Multi Media Studio's.

Cameron, Thanks for the review. Very helpful and you do nice job walking one through the fixture. Keep em' coming!

DJ Perez, Thanks for the review, very helpful. I love the idea of being able to program the light itself. Image spending a little time programming them, linking together 4 of them and letting them roll.
    Thanks again,
    DJ Jeff

@monstervison6 the 260 has a 60watt white led. The output is just slightly less then a mac250. If you can imagine a 230 watt halogen lamp, that would be about right. And the lamp is more of a daylight blue, not halogen yellow. Its a really good all purpose fixture.

@tuxedoedshrimp Agreed, the built in programs are a bit lacking. I'm wondering when someone is going to add a usb port to an intelligent fixture, and then create downloadable programs/steps. (Chauvet, if you use this, I want a kick back.) But, yeah, I recommend some sort of control board/software. Of course in this price range that's sort of expected. Thanks for watching.

@detroit110 To be clear, I don't know of any specifically designed (fitted) for moving heads but there are a few that would work in a pinch like the Chauvet CHS-50. There is a very similar Arriba case as well, ADJ has a stackable soft case, but I'm not really sure how well it would work for more sensitive fixtures. Like I said none of these will give you the same protection as a hard case, but its better than nothing.

@Sweenracer76 I used a controller (Chauvet Obey 40) to go through the features. Then I let the lights run in auto mode (master/slave) for the demo at the end. I haven't used the built in interface, Its a good idea but not very user friendly.

@shandirewis The torrent90 does look nice, but A GRAND CHEAPER WOULD MAKE IT FREE. Its obviously not. The gobos are pretty cool, but that fixture is more for large venue applications a 90w led is positively blinding for anyone in close proximity. But, hey if blizzard want to shoot me a couple I'd be happy to give it a good rundown.

Are you using a DMX controller for this video or using the built in interface?

Hey there, Can you compare the output of the intensity of the light? Is it comparable to that of a powerspot/MAC 250? What is the LED bulb wattage? I am a lighting engineer for a productions company here in Wisconsin. Thanks!
