  • Here was the monthly test of outdoor warning sirens in Stark County, Ohio. Typically, municipalities in Stark test their sirens on the first Monday of each month at noon.
This Model 7, located at the fire department in East Sparta, was donated by neighboring Canton Township after lightning struck the original siren during a storm in 2020. The new siren doubles as both the village's fire and weather siren.
    Filmed on September 6th, 2021.

Glad we got a video of this! Still find it funny how they cut the bottom part of the shroud off a perfectly normal one

They cut the shroud off this one too! Lol also they had I think a model 2 in downtown on a really old short wood pole that's been gone for like 10 years now! Pole/mount still up! Nice video

Nice video! I've been waiting to see what model siren was at this location. I used to live in Canton, so I know exactly where East Sparta is. What model siren used to be here before it was replaced by this one? I remember back in August of 2000 there was one here that sounded exactly like an SD-10, but I'm not sure 100%. I moved to Canton in late 1998, and there was an SD-10 one street over on top of a school. It scared me so much when it'd go off! That one was replaced by a Federal Signal 2001 in early 2002 because of many complaints by the residents that the SD-10 was too loud. Where I currently live, we have all 2001s, except an old T-Bolt 1000T on top of a former armory building. I hope to film it here very soon.

The unit in the video replaced another Model 7. While Canton did have a system of SD-10s and Thunderbolts, they were largely defunct due to scarcity of spare parts by the late 90s, hence the installation of the new system. There is still an active Model 5T located atop the jail on the outskirts of Louisville and Canton.
