@@jvandew that was the intention I believe, sound of the times and all that. The melodie and the vocals. Stones were pretty new at the time, and mick’s style was distinct, I read some of this somewhere a few years ago. I think he also discovered he could sound like Mick, it helped build a nice cult following.
The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense Take what you have gathered from coincidence The empty-handed painter from your streets Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets Look out babe, the sky is falling through And, it’s all over now, Baby Blue Leave your stepping stones behind, Girl start anew Forget about the debts you have, they will not follow you Your lover who has just walked through the door Has taken all his blankets from the floor Look out babe, the carpets fallen over you And, it’s all over now, Baby Blue Well, strike another match girl, go, go start anew, go start anew Cause it’s all over now, Baby Blue, Yes it’s all over, all over now, Baby Blue, yeah, yes it’s all over, all over, all over, Baby Blue
I’m pretty sure Beck sampled the version that was recorded by Them, but both of them have the harpsichord sounding keys. Devils Haircut was lifted from “I can only give you everything” from the same Them record.
@isabellegunson9301 Beck's song "jack-ass" has a sample of Baby Blue cover by rock group THEM. which the begining is very similar to this, in fact, this is a copy so o speak.
that's true man ! 13th floor elevators was one of the best (if not the best) psychedelic band back then. but I also like this version.. the chocolate watch band kinda sound like the 13th floor elevators in a way
@joe44850 Classical composers used to do a similar thing. They would put phrases in their pieces that were from other composers works. It was known as a sign of respect.
@chrisirwin34 I consider it more of a tribute. The Beatles sampled like crazy (the horn section on "Yellow Submarine" is a performance from a Sousa thing, the swirling keyboards on "Mr. Kite" taken from stock carnival music, the bass line to "Good Morning, Good Morning" was lifted from "Midnight Hour",etc. etc). Beck heavily borrows from Nick Drake on a song off of Sea Change. For some reason none of this pisses me off, I guess because rock and roll is full of "thieves"... :-)
I'm going to just empty handed and cheated and robbed and dying I wonder what the Buckle was that my son just had it turned into a skull yeah my son Mary's other son I shouldn't hide the toad everyone else

At 70, I've always thought this was by Van and Them.
Ps, I miss tf out of Tower Records.
Marianne Faithfull Had also made a Copy Version!
Yes I thought that sounds exactly like van Morrisson great version tho
That kid in Demolition had some good taste in music.
15, looks 12, acts like he’s 21. My daughter.
I’m watching the movie right now and I found this T- T
That's where I just found out about it.

The Best Mick Jagger imitator to I have ever heard.
at times he sounds like Mick Jagger more than Mick Jagger himself
Hehe!
Except this guy is American and not putting on some cod accent.
Mick Jagger was the best imitator of Don Covay.
These dudes rule
Just let it go, it was a time when everything didn't have to do anything but spread peace and love
You came from the Demolition movie,
Great taste btw
Basquiat the major motion picture from the 90's brought me here.
So what, this still sounds awesome. Just sit back and enjoy man.

well they both play guitars I guess
"Baby Blue" seems to be that RARE song in which every cover is great; I can't think of a bad version of this song.
This is the song I want to play after Rock dies cuz this is it for me
Rock does not die.
Been dead for years...
Yes!!
i shazamed this but i dont remember doing it i must of been drunk. im drunk now too though and this song is pretty sweet, thank you drunk me.

It is the clone of Mic Jagger. It’s him. 2:13
Them is the best Baby Blue, but I still like this the most
Nope, not even close. For me, THIS is the definitive version.

Love this 🌈🌈🌈🌈🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄😎
Legal
Buena rola de los Rollling Stones 😅
Es un cover de Bob Dylan
A dylan song. Why did they leave out the first verse. Very mick Jagger like. Good!
they also did a great version of the Kinks------------I'm not like everybody else-
This seems to be based on Them's version. No criticism there, both are excellent. Some songs are so good ,it's hard to actually fuck them up.
@chrisirwin34
i like this version better too. but van morrisons voice on thems version is incredible also
Bitchin'
do your best Jagger!
@KIDAmnesiacBends You're right. I like this much better than them's version.
It's a Bob Dylan song. Joan Baez did a famous version
@chrisirwin34
no he sampled Them's version
Can you say sampled?
Beck - Jack-ass
Its off of the album Odelay. Check it out!
no shit sherlock
I was so confused man, first i thought it was Mick Jagger
13th Floor Elevators did the best version of this.
TBH, Van Morrison, Chocolate watchband, 13th Floor Elevators, it's all good.
Robert
YES it's all good
Nah
Teu cu
Echo & The Bunnymen are the only band to ADD to it and update Dylan's sentiment. Period. End of discussion nerds:--)
Did Beck sample the intro riff?
Yeah, Jackass by Beck samples this. Great song.
broadway bullet bought me here
I thought it was The Rolling Stones too...
Think about the horrible original by Bob Dylan, this one kicks ass.
The original by Dylan is a masterpiece
