@@AC-ni4gt I hear you. There are lots of people on line tasting biscuits and commenting on how dry they are. I'm just saying, don't make a decision about whether or not you like biscuits by tasting them unadorned. Nobody in the US who has been eating biscuits all their lives would normally ever eat them dry.

My mother would have insisted that biscuits be served steaming hot, cut open on the plate, with a sizable pat of butter melting on each half, and then, and only then, would there be any consideration about gravy or honey or jam or whatever else.

A dry biscuit is usually a bad biscuit. But if it's fresh and moist, you can have that American plastic cheese with it including folded egg, ham, omlette, country fried steak, country fried chicken, chik-fil-a, sausage, bacon...I think that's it American style.

Actually we here in America put jam, jelly, Honey and of course cream gravy on our biscuits. Or we simply eat them plain. A good biscuit doesn't even need butter if it's made correctly. Although I am a big fan of butter on my biscuits no matter how good they are.
When I was a kid my mother often made homemade biscuits in the morning which we had for, or with, our breakfast. But she always made more than we could eat in the morning. And she'd just keep them covered with a clean cloth kitchen towel in a basket on the kitchen counter. So that we'd have an after school snack ready to go along with some honey, butter, jelly or jam. We'd usually have three each. Good biscuits are even good and soft at room temperature. I miss those carefree days.

On the "Scones vs Biscuits" debate here is the minor differences. While the main ingredient list is the same just in slightly different amounts, scones use cream and eggs for a heavier/denser pastry. While biscuits traditionally use buttermilk and no eggs resulting in a lighter/fluffier pastry. Both equally good in their own right.

    • @BeboRulz

There's a difference between spicy and good spicy. Spicy overcomes the food and removes from the food itself. Good spicy doesn't take away from the food itself and even though it's too spicy, you want to eat more. That's good spicy. With that said there is a middle ground, that if you can achieve you should achieve it. Pickled jalapenos with food, the hot version, lets say a PepperJacks Philly, if you can handle that without tears, you're close to middle ground. I eat Pepper Jacks Phillies with jalapenos and fire balled, it only adds flavor for me, With that said I once had twice the jalapenos in one serving, that was too much.

I'm from Louisiana, and my grandmother made the best biscuits that any one who ate them agreed they were the best. The way I like to eat them in the morning is with butter and Steen's Blue Ribbon Cane syrup, from Abbyville La. I've been stuck in Texas for a while now, and I finally ran across it at Walmart, of all places. Now I don't have to stock up every time I go back home.

Well if you're talking morning biscuits, I gotta go with good ol' biscuits and sausage/bacon gravy. Or biscuits with molasses

The ones who didn't like the mashed potatoes & gravy.... I can't wrap my mind around that. That's the best thing they make. Their chicken is a close second, but I could eat their potatoes all day long. Maybe they make them differently in the UK?? I imagine they must because they're SO beyond good here in the US.

a biscuit is NOT a scone. Scones are dense, biscuits should be fluffy. If your biscuit is dense, then it's a bad biscuit.

KFC doesnt hold anything even close to this good. I used to only to go to kfc for the chicken/rice bowl. They discontinued it, I stopped going. There is MUCHHH better fast food chicken. I only went because at the time it was the only place that had a chicken and rice bowl. Their chicken is REALLY not all that, popeyes is the best fast food chicken I have around me. But outside of fast food, definitely just hit a local place(in america, i cant speak for England, which you kind of did lolol).

After hearing your review, I think I may end up trying Popeyes some day. I honestly hadn't have it yet despite it being in Utah for a while. But then again... I would be worried about how much water I'll be chugging later.

The mashed potatoes in England is really bland and it tastes like they mash it with water. Americans prefer adding milk and butter to make mashed potatoes creamy. The only way I can eat English mashed potatoes is to add more salt and with the English brown gravy to hide the taste of it. I imagine British people find American mashed potatoes to rich and creamy.

The biscuits looked a touch over done. Prefer mine just a shade lighter AND use it to sop up my red beans and rice! Which another commenter said isn't offered in the UK :(

I always get mashed & gravy when I go to KFC so I can dip my chicken in. If they offered "crunchies" as a side to add to mashed I would torally buy it 😂
I think ppl who don't like mac n cheese have ever had GOOD mac n cheese.
Popeyes biscuits are always overdone. They should NOT be crunchy on the outside lol. Definitely need butter & honey 😬
Scones and biscuits are NOT the same not matter what you're putting on them, nope nope nope.

Do they still have fish and chip trucks can't get anything like that here and the serving size was so huge I shared it with my cat. Made me order KFC i think I chose grilled but that way i can avoid the obnoxious wings that Popeyes insists on keeping in the meal
