    I tried the jello chicken tenders recently and it seemed fish were continuously stealing it right off the hook , no matter how I worked it. That was with raw chicken tenders in garlic powder, garlic salt and sttrawberry jello. Went back with the remaining tenders and nuked them at 50% in the microwave for about 6 minutes ... ended up with very rubbery chicken, which I thought might stay on the line better, but the hook would pierce through the chicken fibers and split them rather than come through cleanly, and same problem ... I just picked up some Angler's Dream fishing thread and am going to give that a shot. Let's see if that levels the playing field!

    You know if you weigh your net first then zero your scale using the tare button then add your fish you wont have to estimate weight. If it dont have tare feature just weigh your net and and remember the weight and you always know how much to weigh. I always have better luck with smaller pieces. Use smaller pieces and just lift your rod tip slightly on a semi slack line you will stop ripping hooks out of their mouth and increase your hook up ratio.

    Thank you for sharing, @TheFishinMagician20. I'm going fishing for Blue & Channel Catfish this weekend. I'm going to use chicken chunks and hotdogs cut in 1/3, with chicken liver and garlic salt... Also, I might try to target for some Red Drum Fish on shrimp at the lake! 🐟🎣

    I've been using chicken for a few years now. I originally thought it would only catch small eaters, but it's caught me several fish around 30 pounds, a 41lber, and a week ago I caught a 38 and 66lb back to back on it. It's been a great bait for me. I used to use real big pieces thinking big bait = big fish because that's what I've always heard, but the 38 and 66 pounders I caught Thursday were on pieces only about a silver dollar size. That really shocked me. I've edited it, but haven't uploaded it yet. Still have a couple more previous trips to post first.

      Heck yea! I was actually doing the same, big pieces for big fish but hook up ratio wasn’t great as you see, that is good to know it catches bigger guys tho! I’ll be checkin that one out forsure!

    Three years late to the party, but if you're missing that many hook sets, I'd be willing to bet it's gar. At least here, you'll know it's a catfish if your rod gets absolutely slammed. Gar tend to peck a few times, grab it, run with it, take a few more bites, start running again, etc.

    • @TheFishinMagician20
      @TheFishinMagician20  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was 60-80 ft of water so I doubt gar. Who knows tho

    ive found that you dont have to go very big on the chicken. too big of a piece and it affects the hook up ratio. ive caught some pretty big cats on small pieces.

    • @TheFishinMagician20
      @TheFishinMagician20  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really depends on what you like, my rule of thumb for myself is at least medium heavy, and reel to have at least 200yards of line cap
