Tom actually talks about writing this song......He had less than $10.00 to his name, was about to be evicted, no food. He had a half of cigarette left in his pack. He went out onto his front porch to smoke it, and wrote this song. He went back inside, excited, and told Nova that he thought he wrote THE song to change everything. That night they set everything up and recorded it. He sent it to his best friend Evan, and asked him to listen to it. Evan agreed it was really good. Tom and Nova then taped this video. He borrowed money from Evan, another Friend in Canada, his Sister, and this dude he found on the internet that was a low level 'Investor". He took all $1200 and invested it into promoting this song and it blew up. The REST, as they say, is HISTORY.

And he put that $1,100 all into Facebook advertising to promote the song, and within a day or two it got a million views on Facebook. That was the summer of 2017. When I found his TH-cam in early 2018, Dear Rappers was at like a hundred thousand views at most. Man’s blown up from 50k subs in May of that year, to almost two million a couple months shy of three years later. And the thing is, I totally saw it back then. I distinctly remember saying “Wow, he’s definitely going to go big. Won’t be long till he has a million subs.” boyyyyyyy did he fucking blow all my expectations out of the water.....Beating out Cardi B and Eminem’s entire new album for number spots??? It would be unbelievable if it were for anyone other than Tom.

I just want to say that you’re the first channel I’ve seen do the experience that is Tom MacDonald properly. No disrespect to them, but everyone else out there is doing it wrong, starting from his latest stuff and working their way backwards. Nah man. Naaah man. I said NAHHH man, you _can’t_ do it that way. You have to experience Tom how the we, og hangover gang, experienced it. You have to put yourself in our shoes, and see if you see in Tom what we saw in Tom back in the day. See if you can watch the same videos we saw and think “this man will have millions of subscribers in a few years” like we thought. I had no idea what was in store for Tom when I found him in early 2018, but I knew it was going to be great. I hope these early videos give you guys the same feeling of excitement for Tom’s future, and I also hope you guys enjoy experiencing what the journey has been like for all of us over the last few years. It’s truly been incredible, he both met and then exceeded all my expectations.

The story goes he was living in South Central LA and was down to his last smoke. He went out had had smoke and wrote this song. Went inside and got Nova to record the video and post it and that was that.
