3:01 if youre talking about the other effect of glorious charge it doesnt do extra leadership loss for charging into flanks etc but that a frontal charge does inflict that penalty as if it was a charge from the flank. So this + fear means that they can front charge into low leadership infantry and potentially instantly rout them on a charge
I have seen their charge decimate backlines for 400+ kills. I understand why you wouldn't get them though since Kislev already have superior cav in war bear riders/ war sleds. I love them though!
This is the classical Shock Cavalry. For some reason, I was under impression that their Charge Bonus was around 80- I am not sure why. These guys are very similar to Reiksguard, and given their relatively poor melee stats, I feel that they should have higher speed- around 84-90 and Charge bonus- 80-88 to accentuate the fact that they are a premiere Shock Cavalry and to differentiate them from Empire and Bretonnian Cavalry units performing the same role. This unit could be an absolutely amazing blob destroyer for Kislev, when they are attacked by waves of Zombies, Skavenslaves, and other low- tier hordes. They would also work well against elite Demon infantry- Bloodletters, Plaguebearers, Daemonettes, etc, due to demons' low armor. Gryphon Legion would not work well against most other heavy cavalry units, and, therefore, it's use is a little bit situational. CA should make sure that Gryphon Legion is an absolutely amazing Shock Cavalry unit, because it is not very good at other roles. And with the roster that has other potent cavalry- War Bear Riders and anti-infantry- War Sleds, options that could lead to the unit being underused, which would be a shame.
Overshadowed by bears for a good reason. Only decent as an hammer but even the ai can counter with anti large or high tier cav can beat them or light skirmish ranged armor piercing cav can harass them pretty well. Bears sleds can trade with fast skirmish cav and war bears with their buffs can take on the tougher cav in the game as the ai usually doesn't pick optimal leveling for the situation. They can even be a great hammer to boot.
A general shock cavalry unit, however good, is still a general shock cavalry unit, and has counters. The issue is whether you can still actually make use of them.
The Gryphon legion is a really nice (if perhaps a tad micro intesnive) "medium" cavalry; they're fast and they can hit hard, but if you have to turn your attention somewhere else for more then a couple of seconds then theres decent odds that they get swarmed by your opponent. Still, they're cheaper then Bears and a bit more nimble to boot so they do make for a really good shiv of a unit. The issue of course, is that while they're in many ways great... war sleds and bears can oft times wreak similar havoc while offering a other benefits (Sleds can shoot while bears have anti-large). I'd probably field some in the late game with a side army for specific tasks.
@@OffToBattle It's kind of the case with a lot of units in WH; they're not bad per se, but they either come in too late or are too specialized or overshadowed by better units that you have within spitting distance. Like in a lot of other armies these would be some god tier cavalry, but the issue is that you can have bears at pretty much the same tier and you can legit doomstack them, forming a horrible ursine katamari to throw at your enemy and pretty consistently win even if you aren't cyclecharging like crazy.

Good unit. I am partial to good cav, even if people dont really value it in this game. A single unit of strong cav can easilly have an outsized impact, and these dudes really show it. You need to put a lot of mental space devoted to them, but a nice zero imput line like Kislev is a good pairing. Shout AND THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED forcan extra 20% leadership damage.
I suppose there is that. I still like them, but I also appreciate why people push the sled spam, so it's more, I can see myself using them but they have stiff competition.
They're nasty in multiplayer. But in campaign I constantly find myself passing over Kislevite cavalry in favor of warbears. Mainly because taking the skills that buff cavalry locks you into cavalry while Warbears get lumped in with Kislevs much better Monsterous units.
Yea so glorious charge makes this the best traditional cav in the entirety of warhammer. They are a tier 3 unit in practice since castle alexandronov and praag has landmarks for them. I would recommend pairing them with kossars since all variants have non AP missiles so they can avoid FF. Consider using them instead of war bears in situations where there is a lot of infantry. Also side note just don't play kislev until the upcoming overhaul their economy and unit tiers are terribly designed
@OffToBattle they announced they're working on it right now in the Christmas announcement. I predict it will drop in Feb or March but wh3 is the king of spaghetti code so maybe longer
give them plus 2 to Ma a silver shield and 80-85 speed and maybe even ap damage and cause terror cause of the wings on their back make sounds to terrify the enemies that would help to make them feel a bit more elite

As it is they're definitely underused. We'll see what CA does with yet another rework coming.

That's not a bad place to put them, side armies I mean. They're still really effective at their day jobs.

I'm not a big Kislev lore guy at this point so I'm learning as I go.

This is why the SOC dlc was such a let down. The potential was there for an Ungol Tatar inspired medium cav infusion to make Kislev horse only viable
