"Children growing up, old friend growing older" Peart has always written beautiful & introspective lyrics (& been attacked for it-if only he could do those skin-deep "oh baby" lyrics mtv & rolling stone approve of!). But for me this is poetry, beautiful, poignant & from the perspective of being a veteran of life and having seen much come & much go, knowing that age is eventually a great factor in our perception of the world & our friends around us and our apprecation for it all. Peace Rush fans.
Kids need to stop apologizing for being young. I'm 55 and I can tell you, I almost cry when a kid notices TRUE ART, TRUE MUSIC. Indeed here my friend, noone is guaranteed tomorrow. Followed these fine men for near 4 decades now. I consider them friends/family, never fortunate enough to meet them, but they are "my boys".
Rip Neil..........Hope you finally found your peace Neil. You had a rough time the last decade or so. Rest easy brother. We all love you. Your music lives on and so will your soul. God bless.
True King Tone -- precise and tight musicianship. This is one to listen to when you go through a scrapbook of old photos. This music makes the best years come alive, once more. Remember only the happy times - forget the rest.
The older I get, the more this song resonates with me. It is probably my favorite song by Rush, and perhaps my favorite song of all time. I consider it musically perfect. There is nothing in the tune, the arrangement, or how they played their instruments that I would change. A masterpiece.
Beautiful! Gary/Geddy is my favourite singer in sausage casing. RUSH has some of the best lyrics out there, if not THE best. Gods, and that band has a nose to DIE for!
This video is like a great early gift for Christmas 2012. I dig it (the most)! An audio scrapbook of the best years of your life. Play this one on Christmas Eve 2012 with those you love. I dedicate this magnificent song in memory of those dear souls who have lost loved ones in Newtown, Connecticut (on Dec. 14, 2012). Keep your memories of them -- Forever!
Powerful, dynamic, majestic. Time will never bury this one. Oh yeah, I dig owls too. A great tune for this time of the year. A Hopeful and Merry Christmas 2012 to one and all -- everywhere (and, for ALL TIME)! In VERY loving memory of My Magnificent Lady and Heavenly-Resplendent Wife (in Heaven since Nov. 22, 2010) -- My Barbra Rose. When I gaze at the stars in early December, I think of this tune (and My Barbra Rose). Barbra -- Time will never bury our mutual love.
One of the best songs ever. Neil's lyrics are perfect. I love the photo of them @ around 2:15. I'd love to use it as a screensaver but haven't been able to find it online. Anyone?

Notice the lyric is "Time stand still" as if he is commanding Time to stand still. Big difference in the poetry.

RUSH is too good for the RnR Hall of Fame.
SO true magnetic77. I never thought I would want Time to Stand Still but at 54, and a lifelong RUSH fanatic I can totally relate to the idea.
