Still using mine. Just amazing. Have the buffed up version with 2K display and extra ram and hard drive. Works like a clock. It does get a bit too warm with lot of apps running and sitting on a desk and the black finish has lost a bit and metal showing underneath it but otherwise just great. Best keyboard on the market.

Just bought this laptop and now watched this video. I bought the 2nd generation X1 carbon refurbished in 2016 and it lasted me for 4,5 years. I was very happy with the 2. gen model and looking forward that this one will last me a good while. For me the trackpoint was the main reason to buy this notebook. I just love this thing and e.g. the Dell notebooks with trackpoint are missing the scroll button

I have been using the Thinkpad x1 carbon 6th gen for 2 years now, its the most reliable laptop i have ever used. Lenovo's 3 year warranty is great, its performance is great so far without slow downs. But i have the 1080p 300nit display, should have gone for the higher one, i feel its a little dim so i need to put it at 70-80% brightness most of the time in the day. Apart from that, no complaints ! Will use it for another year, and then may be go for another thinkpad may be..

trust me i have the x1 gen 6 in 2k your lucky you stayed with 1080p, i replaced the battery on mine getting now 57,000mwh / 57,000mwh however it still drains pretty fast even with all background apps off and low power mode 2k display is just battery juice at best.

The other advantage of glossy displays is that you don't have the "sparkling" effect that is really annoying when you are sensitive to it.

I've had my 6th gen since early 2019 and have loved it to this day. In its 5 years I've replaced the battery once (a pretty easy swap you can do for about $30-50) and upgraded the SSD from its original 256GB to a 1TB. I mostly use it for programming, but it can also handle Lightroom and Photoshop very well. I wouldn't expect too much when it comes to video editing with its lack of a GPU, but the keyboard has been my favorite of any laptop I've tested.

I love the spec, the performance, how light it is and the I/O ports.
but I've had loads of software issues that are a pain to fix. the hdmi no longer works which is some thunderbolt issue that many have with the 6th gen, the type-c port for the charger is broken and as im typing this the screen just fell out...
Louis Rossmann's video on what's causing the issues so be carful buying second hand carbon X1's
