When she says she's trying to send a message, she's refering to her younger self. Some people thought it was a love song but she was mentioning herself as "you", which is why there's the scene in which she is looking upon her younger self that was still playing piano at her older house. The whole song consists of her trying to remember herself to stay on the ground and not fall into the dark side of fame in which they leave set aside every important thing.

Yeah, that’s why I’m the beginning you can see her staring blankly at the mirror (herself) in a sort of dull/creepy vibe until the Chandelier hits which is in my theory, a reference to fame and luxury hitting the ground and to snap her back to reality.
Changes with being famous is very rare that’s talked about in Blackpink’s songs. Only YNK and this song talks about how fame affects the person and trying to always stay humble. It’s crazy how idols like celebrities, sometimes have to remind themselves to be themselves and not be caught up in their own fame :(

I think It's more to Rose and herself. She worked so hard to to be succesful and she is so successful now. But now she realized that all she ever need is her true self. That's why you see the scene where there are two Rose. This song is where she is talking to herself. She didn't want to forget her roots, where she came from. The true Roseanne. The song is beautiful

Rosé participated in writing this song and her bside "Gone" (which is a ballad, you'll like it Aaron) She said it herself that OTG is not a love song, it was about her childhood times and now, during the scene she was looking at herself playing the piano was a reference to the current Rosé looking back at her childhood self (which she said the scene was very cinematic bcs it refers to her home back in Australia). Then another scene where she wrote " Rosé "on the mirror then there's a flashback of her old self writting "Roseanne" (which is her actual name) actually means how she recalled her old days writing her name on the mirror and now shes ROSÉ instead of ROSEANNE.

She is a shining star and pride of Korea, Australia and the WORLD. Her soft tones and amazing personality makes me biased . I hope everyone can heal themselves listening to this bop. There are two different Rose . Young naive and working tireless hours then now the dolled up Rose. Everything she dreamt of when she was trainee is true but in reality everything she wanted was always with her. Including music her love for making music singing etc.

  • @cheese2618

The fact that she's the song-writer makes it more memorable. she conveys how all her life, all she wanted was to be on top, be on the highest position, be above everything and everyone else.
but as she started to be THAT person she wanted, she realized everyone who seeks to be on top, they always come down.
that's why she looked back at the old rosé.
and it's a great presentation of choosing humbleness over anything else. a way of saying, "chin up, but never look down on others".

the most amazing scene in the mv is when rosé watching roseanne playing piano. that's the moment where her dreams started.
the whole mv is basically telling us rosé's story from nothing to fame and not like other solo artists/bands/groups that always telling us about love story and heart breaks lyrics/songs. she decided to release a song that tells her story instead of choosing love bcuz she wants to show us her story and people kinda used to love and heart breaks songs.

Rosé is talking to a younger self i think, the younger self working hard for be a singer and successful, that's the scene with the piano, her younger self playing piano to her now successful her, but in the same time the old herself it's telling her younger self that fame and stuff was never what she REALLY needed, everything she needed was always on the ground, where her younger self still is and she now isn't and can't come back

  • @tiaranura8912
    @tiaranura8912 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

She didn't talk about love life, nor heartbreak, she talked about reality in life, she expressed her own experiences, she let us see and know her inner turmoils through this song, her confusion towards what really success is, and the transition of Rosé to Rosanne, she's telling that both are her, whatever name she uses, on screen or off screen, she's Roséanne Park, Her realization, her I've always known Rosé as the most emotional development, her growth, she's sharing it all with us one, this song might not have the most powerful beats and hyped tunes but the meaning is very empowering and eye-opening to those who are not sure of what they are fighting for. EVERYTHING WE NEED IS ON THE GROUND!! We do not need to try hard and pressure ourselves, we just need to open our eyes and appreciate it This song is a masterpiece ! #ontheground #Rosé

This song gives me so much Taylor Swift vibes. I am so happy for Rosé. This song is very deep. She is talking to her past self and finding the answer of her life. In the bridge of the song. There are two versions of Rosé one is the present and one is the past. And that set is Rosé's childhood house where she grew up with that piano.

Theory: she’s actually referencing to her non-idol self roseanne and her idol-self rosé, when she says you and I. And thinking back who she used to be because the idol life is such a fantasy that one stays up there all the time, but they become objectified and not seen as humans. So she wants to come back to the ground to show her more vulnerable self to the world as Roseanne or at least get in touch with her old self cause she realized that Roseanne is enough and she doesn’t have to change for anyone else.

The scene when Rose on the stairway of heaven, so up high, there are some Roses, and there are sentences: Roses are dead, love is fake. Maybe it means when she is so popular, there are so many "Rose" that people expect from her, and so many people love her. But as we know, Roses can only live on the ground. Roses are dead if they are live on sky. Or maybe "Roses" that people expect are not real, they are dead "Roses". And we all know, love that popular people receive are so fake. We receive true love from people that realy know us as person.

The mv represented of the idol image "Rosé" who need image of her oldself "Roseanne" bc she feels her fame didnt satisfied her, she feels she losing her oldself thats why in the pre-chorus it said
"Every day Every night, i've been thinking back on you and i" which are Rosé and Roseanne
And in the 2nd verse it said
"That every single minute i'm without you, I regret it"
Basically she tryin to remind us to stay humble and down to earth and to not lose ourself even if we are in the top of the world. And the fact that she participated in lyrics, designs of this album and i think ideas for the mv as well as always like with BP's mv, amazed to the core. This project shows her hardwork for the past years.

this scene has very deep meaning. the one who was playing a piano was ROSEANNE, a trainee who is really working hard on reaching her dreams to get high, and the one who is watching her is ROSÉ, the one who worked all her life just to get high on where is right now but she realized that in reality, everything she need was on the ground.

In the scene where she writes Rosè, but then it turns into Roseane, it shows that she has reached success but then she realizes that just being true self, Roseane is important.

at first, there is a scene where Rose throws the flower on the ground , and then later she comes back and picks them up and it reminds her of the "Rose" that came out on the first scene of the video.

My point is that the song about Rose and Rose (funny, yeah). And the sentence "everyday, everynight, I've been thinking back on you and I" is about Her at Now and Her at Past, when she tried so hard to be on this height. But now she realized that she don't need this height, and at the M/V it's all going burn (actually "theatre, stage). Really like this message

I’m sorry but I couldn’t stop crying to this song- like she worked her ass off to get where she’s at and then she realizes that everything she already had was enough. This is song is so beautiful, I love the emotions she put in it, her angelic voice and the message she sent in her solo.

It actually deep af especially the part where she wrote her stage name Rosé while her look is the "past self/her trainee days" but it switches to Roseanne, her true name and her true identity :>> it gives a message that at the end of the day what matters most is who u really is not because people made u what u are right now but ur roots and ur true self

You can also note the wrecking of cars by BP members. Rosie in Kill This Love, Jennie is in a car wreck in Lovesick Girls, and Lisa takes a sledgehammer to a Volvo in that same vid. In this scenario I love the way she runs like a super athlete... Who says dancers aren't fit? (Jisoo also ran full tilt in Lovesick Girls)! The sign in the background where the fireball hits the car says, "No way out. Since 199.. You are nowhere..." There's also a weird reference on the movie theatre sign to a 2015 Australian movie called Last Cab To Darwin which is about an old man who finds out he is dying so drives his taxi from Melbourne all the way to the city of Darwin. Is it a movie Rosie likes? Who knows. Actually I think I suddenly get something ...The background voices say they're not being listened to, (you're running out of time), but I think she does hear them and gets out of the limo just before the fireball hits...

The mirror scene is very deep, when she writes "Rosé" on the mirror which depicts how "Roseanne" (which is her real name) worked hard and created "Rosé" the superstar, but later when Roseanne is written on the mirror there is no one in front of the mirror which depicts how rosé has lost her own self "Roseanne"

The MV is about young Rosé (her english name is Roseanne), before fame, and artist Rosé from future. The message is about... literally, she worked her whole life, just to get high (to be a star, a celebrity); than, she realizes that everything she needs is on the ground. She remembers when she was a girl, and dreamed about it all. The piano scene with herself is based on her childhood, when she played piano with her older sister, and sang everyday. This song is really deeper when you understand the context...
She talked about this MV and about the lyrics on her YT channel.

I think he talks about rosé and his past, that's why "you and i" you for his past and i for the present. Because then she appears playing the piano while looking at herself and since as a child she loved to play the piano night and day, also in the mirror she writes rosé which is how everyone knows her now, and then roseanne appears written which is what they called her from little girl. Basically it is about that all she needs is to be herself, to go back to being that girl who made music all the time no matter what else, she talks about how she worked so long to improve herself and be better when in reality she only had to follow her heart be who he is
I love to put together theories, sorry

My opinion with rosé in the stair is meaning that everything she have as an idol is not all she needed. Roses are dead love is fake means that being in the pedestal just one wrong move the love that the people gave you as an idol will gone. It’s not the real love that she needed it’s the people around her (family and real friends). She also said that when I drove by your house and you are far from me now is she is talking to her old self but she figure it out that everything she needs is the real Rosé not the idol. She might be famous and achieved her dreams but she figured it out that she will be happy and thankful to what she have but won’t forget to be humble and stays grounded. The chandelier also symbolizes the fancy world she is living as an idol but eventually what goes up must comes down hence the chandelier falling in the first part when it was so silent. It was silent because when she is by herself as Roseanne is she take off the fancy expectations of the fans from her and be herself again.

Roseanne is her childhood. She revisited her childhood, her dreams during that moment in her life and realized that everything she needed is just within herself. It's about being grounded.
