    Neither driveshaft plugs into the differential/3rd member. I've removed and installed each of those units about 4-6 times. While I've never had an issue with not marking the driveshaft, it doesn't hurt to do that. But if you're swapping in a new diff for 4.6 gears then obviously you're not gonna mark the driveshaft.... etc etc.
    You can put the transfer in 4LO to lock that front driveshaft and then remove the nuts. I also find that lowering the front diff on a 2x10 on a floor jack is the easiest way to get it down. You have to get the balance correct, but it's doable. I definitely use that for raising it as well.
    I believe the torque spec on the 8 (4x on each side) diff hanger bolts is in the range of 100 ft-lbs based off of the bolt... no edition of the FSM that I've gone through seems to have the torque specs for those bolts.
    Otherwise, nice video. This will help people see what all goes into installing an SFD!

      Ok thanks for clarifying. I realized the front didn’t plug in later, and just figured the back did because I had seen others that did. And yes, I am just now realizing it would have been much easier if i had put it on a 2x4 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️( i wish i knew that). Thanks!

    Thanks for your video! After viewing you excellent video I know have the information I need to install the engine, trany, and 4x4 all together from under neath. I'm rebuilding a 02 pathy from ground up but been thinking on the best route to put the newly rebuilt engine and rebuilt transmission back in. Your video gave me the answer. Thanks again

    Thanks for the vid. The car looks great. I've got a few question if you don't mind. Did you need adjustable trailing arms (longer lower arms to push the diff back and adjustable upper arms to correct the angle of the pinion)? Did you need a gearbox spacer to correct the tailshaft angle or a tailshaft spacer to correct the length? Did you need to fit extended front and rear brake lines? What did you do about the steering link (did it need to be extended)? Cheers, Michael

    • @realcalrodriguez
      @realcalrodriguez  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the 4 inches of lift, i did not need to get adjustable trailing arms. I also needed no gearbox spacer.( however for 6 inches of lift, i have heard of people putting spacers for the gearbox and getting adjustable trailing arms.)I did extend the rear brake line and differential breather because I wanted to not worry about flexing off-road. I did not extend the front because they are still fine under full droop, but it is definitely pushing the limits of the line. For the extended steering link, I have a link in the description for the specs of the link and where to purchase it.

    I was thinking about doing this to my r50 pathfinder but looks like so much work just wish the r50 series 2 was chassis and body separate like the old ones.

    I had no idea an SFD was such a job. I think I'll pass haha. I'll stick with springs and a spacer for a total of 3" lift. Great video! Thank you. ;)

    • @realcalrodriguez
      @realcalrodriguez  ปีที่แล้ว

      Be careful with going 3”. You can put some crazy wear on your CV axles. If its just 2wd you should be fine, but you may have some camber issues.

    With the 2" spacer lift that you had, how did the 31" tires fit? Was there any rubbing? And exactly what size are they? Thanks!

    • @realcalrodriguez

      I very little rubbing on the strut tower.. very little. They fit fine, but they are larger 31 inch tires. 255/70r17 falken wildpeaks.

    Other than the SFD kit, what else is need it to finish the job. How much do you spend in total??. After the lift how us your mpg...

    • @realcalrodriguez
      @realcalrodriguez  ปีที่แล้ว

      With the SFD. You will get 4 lift blocks for the subframe. Then 2 others for the engine and 2 for the struts. As well as a panhard drop bar for the rear.
      Things will need are:
      -Steering extension (link in description)
      -Some type of support for the power steering hose
      -missing link crossbar
      -springs for the rear
      -extended brake lines (depends on how much lift you have)
      I think I spent around $1100?

    Did you have to extended any of the brake lines? I swear I heard someone on a form said you had to extend them.

    • @realcalrodriguez
      @realcalrodriguez  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends. You dont really need to with the 4 inch, but anything higher is definitely going to need extended brake lines. If you are flexing a lot off-road it would be wise to do the front and rear. I extended my rear because the line was cheap, and it was an easy job, but the rear has more flex than the front.

    Hi does the steering still connect as normal or is a spacer needed

    • @calcowtv3936
      @calcowtv3936 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it does not connect normally. You will need to purchase an extension. The easiest way to do this is to call Woodward and order the parts. If I remember correctly, it was $150+ for me. You can also weld a steering extension to you existing steering. There a few write ups on the various nissan pathfinder r50 pages online, for the welded version and the woodward version.

      It did not. The NRC9448 springs were purchased from a website online.

  • @realcalrodriguez
    @realcalrodriguez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    8:40- there is no shaft that runs into the propeller shaft. The rear driveshaft has that. Also don’t forget to mark the the driveshaft with a marker, to make sure you install it correctly after.

    So the rear has no spacer? Just the RR coilvers?

    • @realcalrodriguez
      @realcalrodriguez  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes right now it just has the RR springs. They sit fine right now, but when loaded with camping gear, the car has a very slight sag. Probably going to stick a small spacer in the rear to take care of that. It will add a little rake, but I am fine with that.
