What are some things that you have discovered about electric vehicles that anti-EV components don't wan the public to know? Please share your thoughts below!
I live in Florida and during Helene gas starions had no fuel and state oilice had to escort gas into the affected areas. You nailed it perfectly with the flexibility of Evs in disaster situations. I can charge anywhere there us a plug. Plus Tesla and Florida Power and Light brought in semis with dc fast charging for the areas hit.⚡
👍Since 2018 we have been charging our Tesla Model 3 using a regular wall outlet. So easy and affordable. Range wise gain about 60 miles a day x 350 days a year = 21,000 miles a year x 6 years = 126,000 miles. Huge $$$ savings and easy on the battery pack.👍😊
Great video for those looking to see what it’s like to charge a BEV. I’ve had a Tesla Model Y for over a year now and done 20K with ~7000 miles in road trips. It’s been a fantastic experience, BEV’s are another level of vehicle, they are not just a vehicle with an electric motor. They are so smooth to drive, like riding on a cloud, have lots of instant power that is unaffected by altitude. Tesla has an enormous public charging network for road trips, so far it’s been only when I have gone into the boonies in Wyoming that I’ve had to think about where to charge! The only downside is that I would like more range, I can get ~200-265 miles of Hwy range at 80 - 65 Mph, I would like that to be more like 400 miles. Charging at home is a blast, no gas stations anymore and no oil leaks. Add to that, the only maintenance is tire rotation and wiper blades, that’s it!
I saw a comment on another EV channel, "How do you charge your EV?", and I wanted to respond "I plug it into the wall, how do you power your hairdryer?" because it's that simple. I have Chevy Bolt EV, averages 4 miles/kWh, so overnight charging on the granny charger has been enough for our daily drives. I intend to have an electrician install a 240V 50A socket soon so I can have lvl 2 charging up to 40 Amps, but that's just for convenience, we don't really need it.
great video. I get so annoyed seeing so many TH-cam videos coming out about EV vehicles put out by people with no knowledge of how an EV actually works or what it is like as an owner. There is way too much EV hate out there coming from people who have absolutely no idea what it is like owning an EV. Yes, there are areas in this country that just don't have public infrastructure so maybe it doesn't work for everyone, and I get that. I also get the idea that the government is trying to force adoption of EV is a huge turnoff, as an EV enthusiast it's a turn off to me as well. But owning and driving an EV is so much easier than many people think and I'm glad to see videos like this, you get a like and subscribe from me my friend.
Awesome! You will love it! Also, if you use my referral code you will receive 750 points towards future Rivian purchases (such as a wall charger) and 6 months of free charging at Rivian charging stations. Here is the code link: rivian.com/configurations/list?reprCode=CURTIS1921388
I have a 2019 Audi Etron which is not very efficient vs other EVs, but your Rivian and my Etron are 3 to 4 more times efficient than a gas SUV or truck. Thanks for the video!
Man! Go ahead and charge to 80%,...and used down to 20% or 10%! You're leaving to much unavailable range just charging to 70%! You paid for the entire battery,...but using a less than ideal amount of its capacity! Heck, given it's warranty, I'd be charging to 80-90% routinely! Level II is the way to go for a full BEV,...Level I is good enough for PHEVs! Regarding a hurricane,....gas can't be pumped either when the power is out! So,..."what about that?"
Hi I have a question for you , I’ve been following your page and love your content… would you buy a 2023 RS1 adventure quad with 28k miles on it for $63k or lease a new Tri rs1 2025 model 3 years 15k per year around $1300 per month…
The election will increase uncertainty in the EV market, therefore, I would go with the lease while I can to take advantage of the tax credit (which may likely go away with the new administration). Also, the 2025 R1S rides a lot better than the 2023 R1S. Plus, you are protected against massive depreciation in the likely event Rivian makes major updates to their vehicles during that time. Thanks for sharing, and I hope this helps!
@@thedukeofmiddleville Thanks for your reply, I’m going to move forward with the lease… I’m in Atlanta and apparently they have one that fits my specs available now.. so might be able to pick it up this weekend…
I saw on another channel that the Rivian is so heavy you need a special jack to change the tire / if you get a flat on the road, AAA needs a special jack. Do you know if that's true?
I enjoyed your video. I am now the proud owner or a 2025 R1S. There were things that I needed to get used to but I'm loving the vehicle. I appreciated your video and will look for your other video about EV charging costs. For folks out there I installed a level 2 charger in my home but I am fortunate to have a partial house generator so I had my electrician hook up to the panel that is panel that is supported by the generator. Something for folks out there to think about. I feel pretty good that I did that so I'll have electric juice in case of a power outage. I do have some Rivian internet issues (the rivian internet is not working) I am 100% new to the EV world so some of my questions and concerns may be newbie type but that is what I am 🙂 A few questions though, (1) you lowered your amperage for a longer charging time, why? do you save money? I'd imagine that what ever electric savings there are would be cancelled by the longer charging time? (2) My daily driving is a bit longer and to be honest I still suffer from some range anxiety so I daily charge to 80%, does anyone out there think that is a problem? (3) I probably have a bit of a lead foot, but it seems that when I drive my MPGe drops drastically. I probably avg around 2.10Kwh. Its hard to figure since the Rivian only gives the last 15 min of usage. What areother experiencess out there? (4) I will listen to the next video re: EV charging costs but my electric company has a program where I can save $.6 charging non-prime, but prime time electric usage goes up $.12. I'm thinking summer time when my A/C is running and those costs, I do not know if it will be worth doing that... anyexperiencess out there with EV costs...
After watching my videos I realized my wife does most of the work around the home including hanging drywall😅 So, I changed it to Middleville since we are in the middle of America, in the middle of nowhere and "EV" is in the middle of Middl and Ille.
All right, I finished watching the video. 17 minutes I'm not going to get back. And I still don't know what the "shocking truth" is, or who "they" are, or what it is that "they" don't want us to know. It's "way more convenient." **Duh.** I'm done with this channel. Just don't have the time.

That is awesome that they brought semis with fast charging! That solves another barrier to EV adoption. Thanks for sharing!

Rivian recommends charging to 70% daily. I use to charge to 85%, but I never needed that much range for my daily driving.
"Don't Listen to All the Haters"
🙉🌹
Does Rivian recommend charging to 70%? Because VW recommends I charge my ID.4 to 80%.
Yes. Rivian recommends using "Daily" (70%) to maximize battery life.
