    I know this is an old video, and I hope you've figured this out by now, but don't be afraid to adjust your welder. I noticed you had your settings way off for thin metal, and your not using pulse, hook your pedal back up and use it, learn to feather them amps. Doing good though man. Cheers!!!

    Great stuff. Learning to TIG weld is a blast. It is even more fun with success.
    You may want to start by learning to TIG weld aluminum. Unlike mild steel, it is absolutely unforgiving of improper technique. You will learn to hold the torch more vertical and use less tungsten stick out. I bet you will also put some walls around the shop when you realize how the slightest breeze blows away the shielding gas. There are tons of instructional videos. TH-cam is your friend.

      Great thought with the aluminum.

    Ive had the exact machine for approx 16 months, Cut the fan altogether as it’s scattering your Argon to the four corners of the earth. Research your tungsten stickout and bring your torch angle closer to vertical. Not TO VERTICAL.....,but you’re really laying it over like a MIG gun and that’s always going to cause you trouble controlling your gas distribution and puddle formation. 👍😉

    Have used mine for about 6 months and love it! One important hint is that under about 120 amps the machine works better plugged into 110 Volt outlet particularly on aluminum. Warranty is great, had a problem and they simply sent me a replacement machine. I do a lot of aluminum and this was affecting what I could do. Love the frequency and cleaning settings when welding cast aluminum such as outboard lower units, replacing skegs and such. Just need exactly the right filler rod.

    I agree with the other comments. You gotta start somewhere. I bought the same welder a year ago still haven’t played with it. Been to busy with other things and usually stick or mig stuff (automotive welding stuff). Got rid of my high dollar millers cause they collected dust as well. I usually use a Blue Demon 140 combo Mig/Stick but can’t wait to play with the primeweld. Btw, magnets are great little helpers but they can influence your welding characteristics and throw off the arc/ puddle and cause wandering so I usually keep them as far away from the puddle as practical when Tig welding steel. I know your just fooling around with making this video but normally you wouldn’t Tig next to that magnet. Thanks for sharing!

      Good call on the magnets. E&M! Now I want to experiment with it. Thanks for watching, hope you get a chance with the PrimeWeld soon. I know how projects get.

    • @snaph
      @snaph ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It came with the welder. I mounted it to the torch with electrical tape and then you plug it in instead of the pedal! Hope that helps. It’s a little push trigger

      I agree a bit too much stick out and it helps to clean the material. I do enjoy my tig welder for those special jobs.

    Question for you, how low can you get your amperage down in tig AC mode with frequency as low as it will go (40HZ). This machine is advertised at 10 amp but can’t get my machine below 19.

    Are you using the fan as ventilation? I hope not could be blowing away your shielding gas

  • @carters2
    @carters2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Something is not right with your setup. A couple things I can see from your video.
    1. Your torch angle needs to be more vertical. About 15 back lean is what you want.
    2. Looks like waaay too much stick out for a #7 standard cup. If you want to run longer stick out I’d run a gas lense setup.
    3. You shouldn’t be throwing sparks all over the place like a MIG when TIG welding. I think is caused by a lack of gas coverage and also kind of dirty metal.
    4. Try the pulser out for thin metals.
