My "rule of thumb" is, NEVER have any money invested in the stock-market, that I think there may even be a REMOTE possibility that I will need, within ten years. It sure helps me sleep a lot better..best wishes to you.

I feel the CBOE should keep it simple and make the methodology be the 0 day straddle implied vol (use underlying strike that is most delta neutral). From what I understand the underlying product is liquid, which will make the index accurate.
