Smoky is well taken care of and I just wanted to let you know that I think your Educational videos a Super because they inform people that birds are a HUGE responsibility and highly demanding in their specific daily needs and it's a life time commitment! Thanks!
Anyone watching this probably already knows how amazing African Grays are….so the owner needs an applause here for doing such an amazing job training this bird. You can tell the relationship is outstanding and the bird is happy. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻
Just wanted to applaud you for your message in this video. I love all animals. Too many times people get animals that are not a good match for their livestyle. And the animal suffers. Thank you for educating others. And smokey is awesome. She is lucky to have such a committed and intelligent owner.
My dad's African Grey was born a month later than I was. He made the horrible mistake of buying the bird at 2 weeks old. However he did learn more about taking care about a parrot. There is footage of that 10 month old parrot feeding me when I were young. Haha. The best part is that that African Grey may as well outlive me too. It's not probable, but it is possible.
I'm watching this as I nurse a deep bite on my finger from our 18 yr old African Grey who's been with us since she was 4 months old. What am I doing wronnnnnnnggggggggggg!!!!!! Smokey is adorable. Respect for the hard work you've done learning to understand her ♡
Rizoto 84 Thanks for the feedback! To answer your question, she recently performed in front of 5 classes of high school students. Each class with 35 brand new faces she's never seen before. Needless to say, she wasn't fazed one bit.
Thank you so much for spreading the word about how to properly take care of birds. I am a bird owner myself, and I've worked with a lot of birds who have come from abusive or neglectful households. I'm glad your videos are so informative for new owners or for possible owners, as it teaches a lot about how to own a bird. Smokey looks like she is really loved. I'm happy you have each other. :)
nancee Lowcarb Thanks for the positive feedback! I think the respect goes both ways and is so crucial in creating a genuine relationship with the bird.
I just I have to say that I love your tips and advice and really appreciate your channel. I'm part of a lot of bird forums and am a cockatiel owner myself. I can't tell you how many posts I see on forums from grey owners specifically or from other large bird owners who lament that their bird isn't cuddly or affectionate and "hates" them. I feel so comfortable linking your channel to them for tips because you really focus first and foremost on your bird's comfort level and emotional wellbeing, which is something a lot of these owners aren't paying as much attention to as they should. After watching your videos, they all say the same thing- that they didn't realize they were taking it too fast and pushing their bird too hard to bond with them. A few weeks or months later, they usually check in and say that they've made so much more progress with their bird taking it slow and steady and working at the bird's pace, and I even see them recommending your channel to other bird owners. In my opinion, there's no such thing as a "problem bird", only such a thing as a "problem owner". Thank you for shining light on these beautiful, amazing creatures and the realities that living with them entail. Thank you for helping frustrated bird owners change their perspective and grow better in their relationship with their bird. You're an asset to the community whether you realize it or not, and we are forever grateful.
This comment made my day, thank you! It takes a lot of time putting these videos together but to hear that they are reaching people and changing lives is what inspires me to keep posting. So, thank you once again!
Sameer Yousaf in my house i stick a paper on all the fans control written: don’t open and we never open unless important and keep the parrot inside the cage.. so u don’t need to clip the parrot wings just for a fan accident 💔..
@@wingsNpaws yea but there's more dangers around the house than the fan tho, most we aren't even immediately aware, so I think clipping your birds wings is good until you train it to listen to you and fly to you etc, if u get a new bird its best to have it clipped until it gets used to you
African Greys are the est parrots when they bond to you its for life.. they truly LOVE!!! Smokey is Beautiful and so very very smart she Loves here "Human" and has him trained very well
Birds are highly intelligent. I have raised many birds in my life and will only own one on very certiain circumstances. No bird over 5 inches should be kept as a pet unless there are no other choices. Its nice to see Smokey lucked out and found a nice home. BUT please remember this takes years of working daily with lots of love. Most people are not capable of training an animal like this.
You’ve spent a lot of time with this bird. I’m so glad. These birds soo deserve that time. They are away from their species, and need their “flock” so humans become their flock, through no choice of their own. Amazingly bright animals, with prekindergarten intelligence. So I’ve heard, I think that’s an underestimation
You are a training genius I love the way you keep your gray you keep it active Naturally by giving it foraging toys and other things you have found the perfect way to keep an African grey keep up the good work your training methods look a lot more Humane than other trainers as well
as a long time parrot owner, THANKS for the warning at the end. I kind of see my birds as feathered dogs, but they are indeed very different. You're a dog's "boss", you're a bird's partner/equal.
I have a gray that is 4 years old his name is Bongo. I got him when he was 3 months old. He is the sweetest Little man thanks for sharing your videos because there's always room to learn something new. 👍🏻👍🏻
Very well behaved! I'm thoroughly impressed! Although I must add that my dogs know every single one of these tricks (except saying different frases, but they do know speak, and whisper) I also exclusively use positive reinforcement to train all my animals, it's such a powerful method of training, and it's such a shame that people go to punishment so quickly.
we just got an African grey..it just said hello..and I want him to sit on my hand..I dunno the way...Good,I just learned everything.. Smokey is extraordinary!!LOL
Man your really good at training. My Grey is to old to train. But he's my little buddy. We have been through a lot together. We traveled all over the USA together. He is 38 years old. I wish I could have taught him some stuff like that.
No sir, your pet is not more trained than my dog!!! Its more trained than my 18 years old son!!
Thanh Nguyen xDDD
Thanh Nguyen mine too! Smokies puts all 3 my kids (18, 13, & 10 yrs old) to shame! Lol
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
lol and better trained than my husband also 🤣🤣
Thanks for the belly laugh, that’s a good one.
I really appreciate how you warn people who could buy a parrot on an impulse that are difficult pets. It shows you care about these animals
morgana well said!
Yes. People take on these birds - and other animals - on an impulse not understanding they have specific needs and are sentient beings.
They are either work or they are expensive
They may also outlive you..
Oh smokey you're so wonderful!!! 😊💜💙 kisses!!
Katie Vannoy Smokey says "HI!" :)
Haha Gotcha the Cockatoo says hi too !! 😍
Hi Gotcha love you !!
Gotcha The Cockatoo omg is gotcha

"So do you have a kid?"
"I have a birb."
"Oh shit my bad."
She is SOOO beautiful. What a lovely little lady she is.
What a beautiful reaction between you and Smokey. It is so heart-warming to see. Thank you so much....
That bird is so amazing. Im sure this took years of training
thomas allen They catch on really fast, you'd be surprised :)
+wingsNpaws
really, how do u train them..u know like how it step up and so on
@@wingsNpaws So ... how many days for each trick?
Seun they can learn noises in a couple of days or a couple of hours...

ONE OF THE BEST PARROTS EVER!!! WELL DONE!!!
I admire your persistence and intelligence. You make it a point to clarify that birds have different needs.

What kind of African grey?
+xX_Scarlet Angel123_Xx an African grey they're are no sub species of African greys
+Usman Soban actually, there's two. Smokey is a Congo African grey, if I'm not mistaken.
+Kimberly Evensen (Kimmycat7) oh ok
+wingsNpaws What age would you recommend a Parakeet to? Thanks in advance!
It is good to see a bird that is properly trained and well cared for. Well done.
What a beautiful adorable bird. I loved watching your video Smokey ❤️

Great video!!! You are so sweet, caring & committed to rescue & education.!! Smokey is so clearly loved, & so are you!!!
One of the most beautiful birds on earth
I think it's great you let your parrot fly. Its so nice for her and gives her good exercise
I really love the balance you have with her. Always treating her with respect in a quiet manner. So nice to watch.
nancee Lowcarb Thanks for the positive feedback! I think the respect goes both ways and is so crucial in creating a genuine relationship with the bird.
Great job! She is well trained. She is very smart and sweet.
Wow! Smart and beautiful African Grey! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
“Powerful Message”… Too many people get a bird on impulse not knowing the responsibility that you have “To Them”, not the other way around. Thank you!
What a precious girl.
this video moved my feelings! i have an amazon parrot and i've been wanting to train him for so long, i feel very motivated right now
UNBELIEVABLE . HATS OFF TO YOU GUYS . WORDS ARE TOO LESS TO DESCRIBE YOU GUYS

Wow, good job teaching the bird everything she knows. Very very smart bird
Smokey is a very good flyer and so beautiful. I love the bond between you two
I love the fact that he doesn't cripple the bird by clipping it's wings. Birds were meant to fly.
I didn't clipped my parrot wings too and guess what
His neck came into a fan and he died.I cried the whole day
Please clip your bird wings
This could have been easily prevented by simply turning the fan off.
Not like a haircut at all. A haircut does not limit your ability to move around. A bird’s primary mobility is flight.
