    Jomboy has great breakdowns of specific MLB fights. The old school ones are bananas but hysterical. Jomboy did one fight with the Braves v. Padres (I think from the 80’s) where the fans got in on it. Or Phillies & Mets from 1990(?). More recent ones like the Reds & Pirates really good too!
    In contrast, the NFL & NBA fights are somewhat more rare & both leagues try no to broadcast fights on the court/field or put fights in the game highlights.

      Exactly what I was going to say. Horrible editing! They just show the players getting hit and running to the mound and then rapid cut to the next incident. Far better to just show the best brawls than to try to cram in every one ever and cut out all the aftermath.

    In regards to pitchers throwing at guys vs missing the target and making a mistake: context usually let's you know very quickly whether something is intentional or not. If 2 teams have bad blood from previous games, or something happened the previous inning, then it's safe to assume it was intentional.

    Honestly, the reality is that there aren't many MLB "fights" where punches are thrown. As you noticed, the players rush in so fast and close that it's really hard to do much of anything more than pushes, pokes and clothes-grabbing.

    Puig in the Dodgers videos was a sensation over here for like 2 years. He defected from Cuba where he was making some crazy number like 100 bucks a month playing baseball to making 54 million in MLB. But he had some issues and his hitting completely fell off. He’s now playing in Korea.

  • @pgpro8691
    @pgpro8691 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There are times guys get hit by pitches and they just go to first base cause everyone knows it’s an accident cause you don’t want to let a hitter get to first base for free. These are all scenarios where something had already happened beforehand that pissed some people off and everybody knows the batter is getting hit on purpose..

  • @bbqujeh
    @bbqujeh ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Daz if your pitcher hits me or one of my teammates, when my pitcher takes the mound, he better damn well retaliate. That's the unwritten code of baseball, a hit for a hit. They're only throwing off speed pitches, but hitting you at 80 mph doesn't feel good.

    These pitchers use rosin on their fingers which is a sticky substance allowed in the MLB which gives them even more control over their pitches. So while wild pitches can happen, a fastball thrown behind a batter is very clearly intentional.
    As for pitchers hitting a batter, you'd have to be watching the full game or know previous context to understand if the batter hit by the pitch was intentional or an accident.

  • @zerodawn09

    this one is more tame than many others i have seen. btw there are several unwritten rules in baseball and one is if they throw at your guy the next inning you throw back. that is why you see many of these pitchers get thrown out cause they were already warned not to.

    There are some unwritten rules and etiquette in baseball. For example, if you hit a batter and you put your head down, it's usually taken as a "that was an accident, sorry." But if you stare down the guy you just hit, it's taken as you just intentionally hit them and they'll respond accordingly.

    A lot has to do with the circumstances. If a pitcher throws with a lot of spin there is always some chance he can let one slip off his fingers. Umpires and players usually recognize when this is the case. And batters and pitchers battle for the control of the space around the plate. A pitch that’s inside is a fair warning to a batter that the pitcher is not going to concede that space. BUT if there is a rivalry, past situations where a pitcher appeared to hit a batter intentionally, a throw behind a batter is seen as intentional and outside the sense of fair play.
