That’s great about wood-chip, you have to keep your eyes open😁 Enjoy your okra 😊 I didn’t know you had your own channel, should put it in the notes on this site, I’ve subscribed to your channel at (Mrs. Nakid Gardener)😊
I really love the white velvet okra - it cooks GREAT! But I haven’t pickled it so I’m not sure how it holds up there. Plus it’s a little fuzzy so that might make funky pickles lol
Awesome! Thank you! Yea we are going to stay with the tried and true vegetables in the garden this year. We are going to dedicate one row as a tester bed to try new plants. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
We are going to look into chip drop. Heavy Hitter okra is a good one also. Your okra plants look good. We struggle growing dill. Your potatoes look good also. The garden looks great. Thanks for sharing
Awesome! Thank you! I never heard of the heavy hitter okras. Who did you get those from? We grew a lot of dill last year and just fell behind this year. I am hoping for a great harvest on the potatoes. Never grew them like this before. Mostly grew them in containers.
So life just happens and I got so behind on a lot of my seedlings, but as soon as I put them in the ground, it seemed like a week later they were already booming my tomatoes have come up. They looked really sad when I put them in and I think I did about maybe six or seven tomato plants last year I did about 20 but I didn’t want to do that this year, I’m focusing on beans pickles, I wanna make my own pickles potatoes I’ve already planted another succession of potatoes. I’m waiting on my garlic waiting on some of the onions, but I went ahead and put more onions by seed and man that was hard but my seed up within a week after I put them in the ground in there forever home they look lovely🌱🌱🌱 Houston,Tx
oh wow I never heard of pickling potatoes before. That sounds interesting. I hope my garlic, onions, and potatoes do well this year on this new method we planted them.
Well, they haven’t come to maturity, but I see a whole bunch of babies coming along so it won’t be long. I’m probably by next week. I’ll be picking a whole bunch of them. I wanna pick them young so I can make pickles.
Call the local tree services around you. You will have better luck then Chip Drop. On a side note if you pull your garden soil down first then add the wood chip on top you will not have to add so much Nitrogen while the wood chips break down. No disrespect to you guys on the side note. You guys keep on growing. Love watching you guys.
We tried local tree services as well. NO LUCK! I guess being rural has it advantages and disadvantages. When we were in the Dallas area we would put mulch down in our raised beds. I might do the same for these in ground beds just using hay or straw. Thanks for the feedback
Your Okra plants looks good, Adding the dill is a great idea, The dill also helps with Pest Pressure, Thanks for Sharing your Process 💜
So nice of you! We grew a lot more dill last year. We got behind.
I have been growing the Louisiana Velvet.
How do you like growing those?

I'm curious about them for pickling 🤔
@@mrs.nakidgardener I’m planning on pickling okra this summer. I’ll let you know!
I think I saw Mary's Heirloom have those seeds
@@TheNakidGardeners I think she does! Fair warning - the plant gets GIANT. I think mine was 11-12 ft tall last year
I’ve tried a lot of varieties of okra, but Clemson Spineless Okra is my favorite. Yours look fantastic! 👍🏾
Grow okra grow! ❤

Sarah suggested snapdragons (start in the fall) and celosia as possible cut flowers. Gomphrena also does well.
I remember her saying that on one of yall videos. We purchased some snapdragon starts since we were not sure how to start them from seeds or when.
@@TheNakidGardeners - she also says you might want to look at lisianthus… they are beautiful!

Sunflowers, cosmos, roses, mums, how bout herbs like mullein and comfrey, rosemary
those are great ideas as well. we have never had great success starting rosemary but can keep them alive that we purchased from the nursery
I would suggest lillies, yarrow and calendula maybe some more medicinal flowers
We will have the yarrow in our herb/tea garden and the calendula in our watermelon beds. thanks for the feedback
