Thank you for this honest review. This is the first review that I have seen cover the pros and cons as well as compare it to other games. Most of what I have been seeing is people praising it up and down and covering the same few things over and over again. I feel like this game would have been way better received if the price was lower. The lack of furniture, limited farming, and limited dialogue does not even seem to make it worth $40 for me. Maybe if they released a demo, that might have helped too. And the fact that some Furniture will be locked behind preorder meaning if you dont reorder your furniture is even MORE limited.
I don't think farming games need a dating system but it really hurts my experience when the characters are really shallow and don't change much if you befriend them. Character interaction and development is something that is very important to me in games. I want to care about the characters and by extension the world. But everything else looks really nice. Maybe I pick it up at a sale. At the moment I still have too many other farming games anyway.
@@zkme2734 I would say Rune factory. But rune factory has the advantage that it is a rpg. So by default characters are a lot more fleshed out and interesting.
To add onto the shallowness of its characters, shopkeepers SPECIFICALLY can't have their friendship raised. They're just there to buy/sell/upgrade with an occasional quest. Doesn't give me a reason to care for them as virtual people.
That sucks about relationships and festivals, that's kinda my priority with cozy sim games. It's more important to me than the farming lol. Too bad, a lot of the other game systems looked pretty good.
I'm the exact opposite. I don't attach one shred of emotion to game characters and would only really befriend characters if it was the only way to level up and/or progress in a game.
I ran here to tell you Natsume shouted you out on their Official Facebook Page 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊❤ I'm so proud of you Josh. Keep going as a content creator.
@acsisi thats great news. I really wish level 5 would push some more news out . Fantasy life had so much hype when it was announced. And it was already such a beloved hidden gem. They need to advertise more here in the states
Same. It's an immersion-breaker for me and removes the emotional connection to the people in the world. The minute I see NPCs as vending machines, I end up disengaging. Now, if this was a $15-20 game? Maybe. But it's (AUD) $79.99 which is comparable to Tears of the Kingdom, which is only $10 more at $89.99
Same :( It’s a bummer, this was one of my most anticipated games of the year.. Maybe it’ll get better in the future with updates and the two upcoming dlc’s
Thanks for this overview! Relationships and general community interaction is usually one of my favorite aspects in farming games (RF4 does this really well) so hearing how limited it is here is a bummer. Still think I'll grab the game at some point later since I like the artstyle and the multiplayer aspects seem like they could be fun.
Thank you for the review - it is really helpful in letting me know if it is a game I would enjoy. I'm not sure if I will be picking it up as relationships with NPCs are one of the reasons I enjoy farming games.
Josh, Thank you so much for your take on the game and the review! I plan to put out mine next week but I always love to see others thoughts on the games I play as well! Great Job 🥰
I LIVE for the dating systems in farming or any games. As a life long Harvest Moon fan, it’s seriously my favorite. Love that we have another game with it, meaning more games will come with it😭😭😭
These reviews make me think of games like Harvestella or My Time at Sandrock, which have great stories that you definitely can't experience in just 15hs, and how tricky it is to properly review them like that. In case anyone is reading this, if you like games with great stories try those two, the story just gets better and better!
Harvestella ended up becoming one of my all-time favorite games and I've been playing since I was three, which should tell you something about the story. The farming ended up becoming secondary to me, but you need it for money/supplies. The Faerie Orders were also a fun motivation.
Thanks for reviewing this game! I'm a little hesitant because of the lack of relationship building and romance but it can always be fixed with a patch maybe
If this were the only farm sim coming out this year I wouldn’t mind paying the $60 but there are too many good farming sims coming out this year like My Time at Sandrock ,Pixleshire and Moonstone Island but I will eventually buy Fae Farm it looks like fun
Thank you for the video! I like how you stated the pros and cons of it :) making me look forward to it. Relationships don't really bother me, so it's fine for me. having fun is what i'm looking for, and this seems to have it.
one of my favorite parts of farm sims is the liveliness of the town & community, like the huge amount of events and dialogue in Rune Factory 4! seeing as the fae farm events & npcs look underdeveloped, i think i’ll wait until this one goes on sale. thanks for the great vid ✨
This looks really good - I wasn't expecting much, as they always emphasised the multiplayer in marketing and I only play solo. But this looks amazing! There are so many QOL points, like the controls and inventory management, that sound great. It's a shame about the lack of motivations for making friends/building relationships, although the idea of having a different liked item each day is incredibly cool: I hope they fix whatever it is that's causing the menu not to show their likes properly. I just spent money preordering Sandrock, so I won't be able to buy this at launch, but it's definitely on my list now!
I'm not that interested in relationships in games (as IRL haha) and I don't have a lot of time to play and hate having to search too long for solutions, so even if the game is simple, I think I could be a good one for me. It's all a matter of expectations
A kindred spirit at last. I am among that minority that puts romance and relationships at the bottom of my list in these kind of farming sims (and IRL) and I come home from work past 5PM, so I am more focused on activities besides socialization in games. Besides, there's already plenty to do in Fae Farm. The farming alone is so involved, that will be my #1 activity once I can actually play Fae Farm.
@@BlueIrisTiger44Don’t care about romance/relationships in games at all, don’t even do co-op. I like relaxing alone, exploring, foraging, decorating customizing and doing (fun) quests.
Great review! I know this game is for me as I usually don’t care about the romance/character much in these games. I always end up ignoring them. Only game I ever bothered romance is Stardew, and that was mostly for completetion. What I like is appealing graphics, leveling up, grinding for materials, building my farm, earning money and DECORATE 🥳😍🎉 I also wish this game would have been even more fleshed out for the price but I happily pre-ordered Fae Farm and I’m excited to play. I really like the graphics and it’s a huge plus that running around looks fun with jumping, swimming etc. Mining also looks fun to me. But honestly no game really comes close to the depth and charm of Stardew, a super cheap game that got a lot of free updates and still updates to come. To see a 60$ game with such lifeless characters and festivals will be a turn-off for many.. I can definitely see this game will not be for everyone so it’s nice to see honest reviews. But I still think this game will be fun for me! 😊
What an amazing review as always!! You are my go to channel for everything farming!! This is my most anticipated game and this video made me extra pumped!! Keep up the good work! 😀
Many thanks for the video. I think I will buy it later after few updates. Its really cute and I think I would like it. But the lack of festivals and the friendship system let me down.... Well, maybe I change my mind later - I have many other games I still need to play.
Hey Josh. I noticed that time passes even indoors and while you're crafting and browsing your inventory. Is that as stressful as I think it is? Are you always in a rush because time doesn't seem to pause?
Yes, time does pass when you craft or are indoors. It doesn't stress me because most things don't have time limits, so it doesn't bother me if the day ends. The important things like farming and taking care of the animals are quick, so after that you do pretty much whatever you want.
Such a comprehensive review, well done! 😊 I'll be skipping as well as I don't feel too excited or curious watching any of the gameplay I've seen so far.
This looks like something I'd like, but I'd definitely wait for a sale, especially with my current backlog of games. Any chance of a patch/DLC to address some of the limitations mentioned in the video (e.g. PoOT added more dialogue and hopefully they do here too)?
some of the devs said that they were paying attention to people’s complaints and things that they want to see implemented in the game and most probably some of those things will be added in the future dlc and future updates so we will just have to wait and see :)
Thanks. This was really helpful as it covered the two things I really wanted to know about: the story and the relationships. I will likely pass on this as the story in games is what really keeps me coming back.
The same name for every character I make has me wanting to hold off a bit until that maybe gets change.. idk I never thought about it but when I really like these kind of game I tend to play the first few in game years 2-3 sometimes 4+ times and that naming thing is really off putting.
I'm really looking forward to play. But I am disappointed about the relationships being shallow. You can also see there is only one sofa and one bed to choose from. Which makes every home you decorate basically the same :( Really thought there would be much more depth in those sections.
where can you see about the bed and sofa? thought i had seen more than one sofa in promo material. and since decorating is the mechanic that determines your stats it would be strange to only provide one of certain types youre supposed to be able to unlock more furniture with recipes, maybe whatever you were looking at they only had one unlocked
Maybe my opinion on price is different because I play JRPGs and a variety of other games, but if a game gives you 50 or more hours of content, personally that's worth the average price of a larger content game of $60. Just because it's a farming game doesn't mean it's not worth more money, and I got over 100 hours out of Harvestella so I'm definitely not one to complain!
I was fully prepared to spend the $80 AUD it costs here, three times over for myself and my kids so we could play together. But I did have some basic expectations of what features would exist. To me, characters in a farming Sim need personalities and storylines. Sure, the ability to gain friendship can be part of that, but I'd be open to a different approach if that's what they had. Instead it just feels... Unfinished. A few things mentioned in this video just feel like "bugs you solve in Early Access" not "after launching an $80 game" because people are going to hesitate more to invest in an $80 unfinished game than a $20 one. And for me, I know I personally won't get $80 worth of playtime without characters having personalities and storylines.
@@mockingjay478 That is definitely a valid point, I do agree about personalities and storylines. Harvestella wouldn't have been nearly as fun if none of the characters could be befriended or didn't have stories. That being said, I almost never buy a game full price unless I absolutely HAVE to play it when it comes out, since I generally play on PC and Steam has huge sales all the time. So I probably won't pay that much for Fae Farm, but if there was a scenario where it never went on sale, I'd probably purchase at full price eventually. Here's hoping they do add some personality, though!
Already pre-ordered this to play with my friends! No game is perfect, it's all about the experience and how much fun you have playing it. This review is really fair with positive and negative points! People are quickly jumping on a hate train. I think the price is worth it considering how many possible hours you can play. Plus the beautiful visuals and animation makes up for it.
I agree with all what josh and you said here 😊and if we can play 50-100 hours to me I still go for it, just like animals crossing game to me might cost a lot I enjoin it not get bore to fast like stardew ( fishing give me hard time😂),animals crossing & dragon quest builders 2 I still play long hours and still can go back play again after stop play for months or years ,I like what josh said it all in here it (fair ) experience but still wish that they can change and update later on( hope they see what josh had been said & from other people outhere then have some updates later on,I have order it but cancel a bit after hear about Deluxe edition & price might change? 😅,I only want to wait to see how much later 😅 ( sorry about the English spell I am still learning 😅)
@JoshGamingGarden I agree 😂even I don't have a friend to play with 😅 ( I have a sons none play farm game like josh which that sad they play only fighting game and keep kill me 😂am to slow to shoot them back 😂) oh am old enough to be your mum josh 😂😂 none of my friends play any and don't even like cards games 😢 I wish have a club for old people like me 😂
i’m so excited to play this game on my switch, it has everything that i’m looking for and i absolutely love the art style and the graphics (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) i don’t really care about building relationships with the npcs so that aspect doesn’t really bother me much but i understand the criticism that some people have and i hope in a future update they will add more dialogue and maybe more marriage candidates for those people that are interested in that :)
I’m the same way haha I do see a lot of comments about the relationship thing. But even in stardew valley, I don’t think I even romanced anybody until my 2nd year. And there’s so many characters to build relationships with in that game for days to only last 15 minutes - especially if you have a big farm. So I could take or leave that aspect of these farming games personally 🤷🏽♂️ everything else in fae farm looks very cozy, smooth graphics/animation, and just a generally fleshed out fairy tale world. I’ll definitely be getting this game. If they add updates with relationships and whatnot, that’ll just be a bonus for me
Thanks for the in-depth review! At the hefty price tag, with generic NPCs/romance, lackluster festivals, and no ability to actually name your character, this one is going to be a pass for now. To many other good games are coming out if September, so I'll wait on Fae Farm until either these issues are fixed or there's a big sale.
I can't wait for the launch. I bought it last week. It reminds me so much of Fantasy Life, my favorite game, I had to buy it. And watchin this video assures me I'll enjoy it so much
Hopefully they’ll update relationships to allow gifting to all, each character having likes/dislikes and more unique dialogue. Otherwise, this is going to cause people to not buy or stop playing/recommending the game.
@ChiiBomb as you can date and get married in the game, I'm not sure who wouldn't play if that's a feature they want and like? The game hasn't even launched yet, maybe chill out..ffs
@@Pancakespls It's almost like there area early play throughs of the game which you can literally watch and see THOSE FEATURES AREN'T IN THE GAME. My post isn't about marriage or dating. Maybe read and comprehend and gtfo my post if you don't agree. Not everything is about you! If multiple vidoes/early reviews are complaining about the same things missing then obviously it's a key element MOST people like in farming sims like this.
Like many others the huge multiplayer marketing had me worried about this one, but your two videos convinced me that it seems like a lot of fun even alone. I don't know yet if I'll get it upon release as I'm just starting Palia, but I'll most likely get it eventually. It is the game that hypes me most this month (now that Sandrock is delayed), so depending on the state of my purse, I might splurge a little and get it soon. Thank you for yet another great video!
I've been going back and forth on whether or not to get this one but your video helped me make my decision for me and irs definitely made it onto my buy list. Just not straight away as I'm still playing through Harvestella and have Rune Factory 5 to play after. It's a really cute game and I look forward to playing it. Thank you for your review, Josh. As ever it was enlightening.
I'm preordering as soon as I can use my September pro membership discount on an eshop card so it can be $5 off. Another content creator brought the lack of a nose to my attention and now I can't unsee it 😅 Good thing I care more about gameplay than looks.
Currently playing this with a friend on local co-op play for switches. It's fine for a while (there's a bit of lag when other players swap buildings or floors) but eventually over time the game slowly breaks. My friend got bugged with having a pickax animation & sound effect every time he uses ANY tool. And then I got a bug where I could only pet/brush animals and none of my tools could be activated. Had to turn it off at that point. 😢
I don't mind price. Very impressive mechanic and animations, but so little effort into characters/village/story is big NO for me. Luckily, Rune Factory 3 Special its on the way to my Switch at the moment! Don't know why western developers dont try at all to write some "strange" characters, with flaws, quirks, unique quest lines etc Generic "always happy villagers" are so fake.
Every day, I get less hype about this game. How are you going to charge $60 with a broken relationship system, shallow dialogue, limited furniture. It makes me very skeptical of the overarching story line. The game should have been EA and given some love before release. This looks like fancy visuals dressing up shallow content. I really. Really. Really want to love this game but i dont have faith. The devs have said as far as qol changes they are only doing it based on the games reception. Well a lot of people wont buy this over priced game so i dont have faith that they are going to deem it worthy of much qol changes. I have zero faith that they will fix the dialogue or relationship content. I will probably buy this game on steam for 40 and return it if im not wrong. God i hope im wrong.
I bought it bc I was so excited for it and am impulsive lol and it’s fun but the price really is ridiculous. For $60 you can get AAA games with crazy gameplay, graphics, and NPCs. It has no business being priced like Zelda lol it’s a solid $30-$40 game.
And I'm very worried about how game will run on Switch. Vast multileveled open world with double jump/flying whenever you want on Switch? Im sceptical.
I love how thorough this video is! Thank you so much! I'm pretty much sold on this and want to get it, but do you think it's worth doing the pre-order (to get the bonuses) or maybe waiting for a potential sale?
Great review! The game looks pretty fun though the festivals and relationships not being very fleshed out is a bummer. Those are by no means deal breakers for me as the farming/animals and decorating are what I like most in farming games, but since I'm playing a lot of other games lately I think I'm going to wait for a sale to pick this up.
I like how this game looks, but these made me don't like the game: 1. non stackable items to sell 2. limited items to sell per day 3. festivals? they basically have none 4. the town feels so dead
I bought/pre-ordered physical on Switch, and it's already discounted compared to the digital edition. It'll be interesting to see if the planned DLC adds the functionality and depth to the areas that people find lacking.
Well I would have spend the price if they did something more then the other farming or shined in more areas. But so far I haven't seen anything standing out for this game and I will not pick it up for the current asking price and will wait for a sale. Meanwhile there is Starfield soon and by the end of September we also are getting Paleo Pines which seems more interresting then this one.
Oof… character interactions, special events, and festivals are the soul of a farming sim. Sounds like they didn’t put a lot into that department 😫 My girlfriend and I both pre-ordered this game, hoping they add a lot more of that in the DLC or back to Stardew Valley we go
I decided to download the switch version of the game for the Nintendo switch online free game trial. I’ve been curious about this game had heard mixed things about it so was worried about spending $79.95 on something I wouldn’t like. Wow there’s a lot that I’m loving about the game so far an hour and a half in: The cooking system and being able to stack up things that I want to cook The fact that the tool auto selects Being able to see where npcs are on the map and then being able to track them The shortcuts for different features such as the map and inventory and building. The fact that so far it seems to run so smoothly on my switch lite To be honest so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised by a lot of things that I’ve seen so far. Still don’t like the lack of depth that the npcs seem to have but I knew that going into it. At this point it’s becoming more and more likely that I’m going to spend the $59.95 when I next get paid disability on Tuesday. But the fishing. Oh my god I hate the fishing. If by some miracle I manage to get a fish on my line I cannot for the life of me figure out how to reel it in. So far I’ve managed to catch a grand total of one fish. The other fishes that have bitten on my fishing rod have all gotten away. Even though I have easy fishing turned on. If someone can help me with some tips on how to reel in the fish properly on the switch lite that would be a huge help So far though I’ve enjoyed a lot of what I’ve played of the game though and I’m so thankful to Nintendo that they offered the free game trial because honestly I don’t know if I would ever have bitten the bullet and just got it. Especially at the full price of $79.95. Now with what I’ve played so far and the fact that it’s on sale right now it’s becoming infinitely harder to say no.
@@JoshGamingGarden I’m not sure what the bonus is ( I’d suspect less stamina get used or something similar), I spoke to the devs and according to them it tells you in the tips that are displayed when loading. They plan on adding them to the almanac at some point but it’s not implemented yet. It’s called ‘eye see that you got a good sleep” hence the eye. They also commented on requests to sell stacks of items rather than individually, they responded by saying the game isn’t designed that way and they want people to be encouraged to use the crafting stations and sell improved items for more money as most take 10 items to make for example polished minerals.
I feel like this game isn't worth the price for me. I think I'll wait since there are other games I really want more. I'll wait for sales. I feel like 60 bucks for incomplete features.
Definitely waiting for this to go on sale. It looks good, but it doesn't look $60 good. I felt exactly the same way about Harvestella, which is why I also waited for that one to go on sale.
I been waiting for this game to come out for so long. I’m not big into farming games tbh I feel like this is more of a laid back cozy kinda farming game and I’m okay with that since I don’t like farming games anyways and if I do want to play a farming game I could just go back and play Disney dreamlight valley on my switch 🤷🏾♀️ so I see this game as a win for me. Thanks for the review
Nobody in their right mind would pay 60€/$ c’mon T_T, considering the circumstances it is. It just rubs me the wrong way how inconsistent the devs have been. First they announce it as a switch EXCLUSIVE, but then suddenly they decide to add it for steam too? Why? And then they announce the price point to be 60€ (insane from an unknown company with only 1 other game) but then after the backlash they decide to lower it JUST for steam (?! Why?) and make a deluxe edition with not 1 but 2 unannounced dlcs (?! correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve never seen anyone else do smth like this ever before) with no information what they’ll be about and also there’s no choice or other option for switch players… There’s just a lot of question marks and red flags. Also, from the previews the gameplay doesn’t seem like anything that special, not to mention the bland NPCs, boring dialogues, broken relationship mechanics and lack of social events and the whole repetitiveness of the day-to-day gameplay loop. Yes, the controls feel smooth, but as someone else here in the comments mentioned, that’s to be expected from any full release game. Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if they suddenly announce other changes regarding the future dlcs or future patches or stuff. It all just looks weird imo.
THIS!!! SO MUCH THIS!!! 💯 A new indie IP at $60 when there's already so much more competition is already a red flag + all the points you said above. People have been defending the price point because they thought it would be chock-full of content, but instead we get this shallow, hollow overpriced farming game. Not even worth $40, maybe $30 max. As for the DLC, it's obvious they just cut content from the original game and called it dlc 🙄 That's why they can't do the same with the switch version, because it's the full game, which they cut in the pc version so they can offer it at a lower price. NOT a price reduction at all.
I feel like I'm in the minority with all these comments about relationships; I'm prioritizing the animals tbh, but I really haven't seen MUCH about them which makes me sad. However, the flower breeding isn't something that many games use, but it's so much fun!!! I'm hoping Cornucopia has some gene mechanics for their farm animals.
There are only 6 animals for launch but you're able to breed them for very cool colors which is probably why there's not many. There might be more in the Dlc to come though!!
I will say with breeding and selling animals for profit, be prepared to do a lot of running around. Your animals have to follow you to the npc to be sold or bred. And then when a new animal is born you need to walk the baby back to the barn. You kind of need to do this to get higher happiness and valuable animals.
No, the game never really calls you a witch. The towns people mostly recognize you as a farmer or adventurer. For the most part magic is used with tools once they're upgraded (mining/woodcutting/watering plants/digging/etc). Potions may be used as well and I'm speculating they're craftable eventually.
Apparently the switch version is the deluxe edition and will include 2 upcoming dlc’s so I’m also holding out, but I haven’t completely give up hope yet
There's local co-op and online co-op with the switch, Steam I'm assuming only online. I'm playing through the story with a friend. One person hosts the world and friends can join after the tutorial. People joining will need to make a brand new character. With switch and local play, there's lag when any player changes buildings or rooms. Also glitches seem to show up the longer you play.

I like this game, love the look of it and how cute everything is but the name thing annoys me a little. I usually make OCs with these games and I don’t like using my own name for them. Especially as you mentioned, if it’s a male character.
Seems like they wanted to make the game as non-challenging as possible. definitely like a little challenge with my games and am disappointed to see how easy everything seems to be. Super disappointed about the relationships and community aspects - the festivals are extremely lackluster and the repeated, shared lines of dialogue makes every other person in the game seem like set dressing. They may as well be cardboard cutouts.
This has fantastic art, but that's it-farming, Relationship, and Festival are so genetic. There is no way it is worth the price tag. I think Harvest Moon Anthos is better than this, LOL.
Seems like a big pass from me with how the relationships work in the game, like at this point farming sims are so competitive they really gotta be firing on all ends for me. I've still only done the beginning bits of like Sun Haven and while I love farming sims I don't have unlimited farming sim time or a lot.
@@xRamadait’s a big selling point for farming games and cozy games. The feeling of living in a small town and having a rich community with good relationships is a selling point. No need for the insults.
I like a lot visually about the game but the lack of personality to the characters is a big deterrent for me, I'll find it harder to connect to the world without it. I might still pick the game up in a sale, but not as enthused as I was before sadly :'(
aww i wish they add more features in the relationships and festivals :( the characters are so cute it would be a shame to keep them two-dimensional
THIS. With how shallow the content is, doesn't even seem worth $40. Maybe $30 max
Relationships are kind of a bummer but not a deal breaker for me, especially because that can be easily updated, unlike the more basic mechanics.
Yea, but will they?... 😕😔

I've been taking my time to complete Fantasy Life 3DS. Excited for the Switch game. Love fantasy life!!
hm not sure if ill get this one with relationships and festivals being shallow
Same...
Same. It's an immersion-breaker for me and removes the emotional connection to the people in the world. The minute I see NPCs as vending machines, I end up disengaging.
Now, if this was a $15-20 game? Maybe. But it's (AUD) $79.99 which is comparable to Tears of the Kingdom, which is only $10 more at $89.99
same!!
Same :( It’s a bummer, this was one of my most anticipated games of the year.. Maybe it’ll get better in the future with updates and the two upcoming dlc’s
@@mockingjay478I’m also in Australia with the asking price of $79.99. Like who are they kidding?
Thanks for this overview! Relationships and general community interaction is usually one of my favorite aspects in farming games (RF4 does this really well) so hearing how limited it is here is a bummer. Still think I'll grab the game at some point later since I like the artstyle and the multiplayer aspects seem like they could be fun.
Yesss to SF4. Most underrated game of the farming / sim genre. It’s like, the second best game I’ve ever played next to SDV
I'm actually happy that relationships aren't the main focus in Fae Farm, as I neglect them in SDV, Sun Haven and Coral Island
Great Job 🥰
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts as well! It looks like the game is pretty divisive, but I hope you're having a good time like I am!
@@JoshGamingGarden I am loving it! It does have a few things I’d change but I am having such a great time ☺️
I LIVE for the dating systems in farming or any games.
Waiting for the Switch release of Sandrock so I can take it everywhere with me. 😅
Been waiting for my time at sandrock, as I have my time at Portia. Can’t wait
Thanks for reviewing this game! I'm a little hesitant because of the lack of relationship building and romance but it can always be fixed with a patch maybe
But the question is will they? And if they do, will it be so late that it's too late for those who bought it close to launch.
I'm the same, I'm not that into the relationships in these kinds of games. I enjoy the farm stuff, decorating, dungeons, etc. Looks fun.
That's me too, couldn't care less about game relationships, but, to each their own.
I'm hopeful they can address these little issues with gifting through a patch. Maybe by the time you buy it, it will all be sorted out! 😃
@@JoshGamingGarden fingers crossed!
I'm not that interested in relationships in games (as IRL haha) and I don't have a lot of time to play and hate having to search too long for solutions, so even if the game is simple, I think I could be a good one for me. It's all a matter of expectations
I feel the same!
Same i mostly just like to explore and so.
What I like is appealing graphics, leveling up, grinding for materials, building my farm, earning money and DECORATE 🥳😍🎉
I also wish this game would have been even more fleshed out for the price but I happily pre-ordered Fae Farm and I’m excited to play. 😊
I agree. Every other farming feels like a stardew knock off for me 😅
What an amazing review as always!!
This was very helpful, now I‘m even more exited to finally play it next week 😍
This would give me so much anxiety LOL even if I know it's not that important to do XYZ in one day.
Such a comprehensive review, well done! 😊
I'll be skipping as well as I don't feel too excited or curious watching any of the gameplay I've seen so far.
Wow! Kudos to the developer for all the options including colour-blind filters. So awesome! Can't wait to pick this up :D
Which makes every home you decorate basically the same :(
Really thought there would be much more depth in those sections.
where can you see about the bed and sofa? thought i had seen more than one sofa in promo material. and since decorating is the mechanic that determines your stats it would be strange to only provide one of certain types
youre supposed to be able to unlock more furniture with recipes, maybe whatever you were looking at they only had one unlocked
There is more then one bed
Thank you for this video! I think you pointed the positive and negative points out really good :)
Completely agree! I couldn't test out the multiplayer but I'm sure playing with your friends will make it worth it! 😃
@JoshGamingGarden I agree 😂even I don't have a friend to play with 😅 ( I have a sons none play farm game like josh which that sad they play only fighting game and keep kill me 😂am to slow to shoot them back 😂) oh am old enough to be your mum josh 😂😂 none of my friends play any and don't even like cards games 😢 I wish have a club for old people like me 😂
I think its about the price as well if this was 25 or 30 pounds i would be fine but for 50 pounds it is the same price as Nintendo games like Mario
i’m so excited to play this game on my switch, it has everything that i’m looking for and i absolutely love the art style and the graphics (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) i don’t really care about building relationships with the npcs so that aspect doesn’t really bother me much but i understand the criticism that some people have and i hope in a future update they will add more dialogue and maybe more marriage candidates for those people that are interested in that :)
If they add updates with relationships and whatnot, that’ll just be a bonus for me
Thank you for doing a feature on this, excited to play!. Pre ordered it on nsw.
Thanks for the in-depth review! At the hefty price tag, with generic NPCs/romance, lackluster festivals, and no ability to actually name your character, this one is going to be a pass for now. To many other good games are coming out if September, so I'll wait on Fae Farm until either these issues are fixed or there's a big sale.
u dont get anything for completing quests?! thats…. disappointing. whats the point of doing them then 😭
Thanks a lot for the comprehensive review, Josh!
I can't wait for the launch. I bought it last week. It reminds me so much of Fantasy Life, my favorite game, I had to buy it.
And watchin this video assures me I'll enjoy it so much
Fantasy Life was amazing
Hopefully they’ll update relationships to allow gifting to all, each character having likes/dislikes and more unique dialogue. Otherwise, this is going to cause people to not buy or stop playing/recommending the game.
well, not everyone cares about relationships, like me
@@Pancakespls Not everyone is you either, but for $60 it should be included in the game when most games like this are less than half this price.
Thank you so much for always sharing such great content with us!!! I hope we can play this together one day!!!
Yes, that would be fun!!
I agree with you 😊,
Like many others the huge multiplayer marketing had me worried about this one, but your two videos convinced me that it seems like a lot of fun even alone.
How would like to know how small or big is the map. Are there other towns or is what we see in the preview all it has to offer ?
I'm still undecided on this game, even after watching your whole video 😔 I wish there was a demo.
If you have a switch they currently are having a free game trial for the game for switch online members
I'm preordering as soon as I can use my September pro membership discount on an eshop card so it can be $5 off. Another content creator brought the lack of a nose to my attention and now I can't unsee it 😅 Good thing I care more about gameplay than looks.
Yeah so many faring sims have this problem it’s so weird to but I can still enjoy the game
Don't know why western developers dont try at all to write some "strange" characters, with flaws, quirks, unique quest lines etc Generic "always happy villagers" are so fake.
i love that you reviewed accessibility!! 💖💖 a lot of people don’t discuss that
Excellent video! I think I'm going to put this one on my radar but not make it an instant purchase. So many games coming out soon!
Yes there's a lot to choose from, no need to get everything right away as eventually many will go on sale! 😃
@@JoshGamingGarden Good point! That's a very good one to watch for going on sale too with its $60 price tag haha.
Were you wrong?
I bought it bc I was so excited for it and am impulsive lol and it’s fun but the price really is ridiculous. For $60 you can get AAA games with crazy gameplay, graphics, and NPCs. It has no business being priced like Zelda lol it’s a solid $30-$40 game.
Can’t wait for this one ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥😍. Thinking about it for so long 24/7 😂
I'm so excited for this game
Just a heads up that Nintendo currently has a free game trial for this game from today until the 28th and it’s also currently on sale as well
I like how this game looks, but these made me don't like the game:
1. non stackable items to sell
2. limited items to sell per day
3. festivals? they basically have none
4. the town feels so dead
Thanks for the thorough and honest review. Very helpful!
Looks great but you can tell this is one that’ll be half price on sale within a year. They’re asking too much for it I think… I’ll wait.
They definitely are asking too much for it. At this point it isn't even worth $40. More like $30 max
I bought/pre-ordered physical on Switch, and it's already discounted compared to the digital edition. It'll be interesting to see if the planned DLC adds the functionality and depth to the areas that people find lacking.
Thank you for such a detailed review! 😊 I’m just torn on which system to get it for 😂
I know it's such a hard choice! I'm looking forward to checking out the Switch version and see if it's as smooth as on PC.
This is so insightful, I’ll come back to this after I buy the game!
Where do we go to create a Phoenix Labs account? The internet has been no help lol I was hoping to have it done before the game releases.
right when you start the game it will give you the option to create a phoenix labs account :)
Wow there’s a lot that I’m loving about the game so far an hour and a half in:
The cooking system and being able to stack up things that I want to cook
The fact that the tool auto selects
Being able to see where npcs are on the map and then being able to track them
The shortcuts for different features such as the map and inventory and building.
The fact that so far it seems to run so smoothly on my switch lite
To be honest so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised by a lot of things that I’ve seen so far.
If someone can help me with some tips on how to reel in the fish properly on the switch lite that would be a huge help
So far though I’ve enjoyed a lot of what I’ve played of the game though and I’m so thankful to Nintendo that they offered the free game trial because honestly I don’t know if I would ever have bitten the bullet and just got it. Especially at the full price of $79.95. Now with what I’ve played so far and the fact that it’s on sale right now it’s becoming infinitely harder to say no.
Finally found out what the little eye means in the mornings! It’s if you go to bed before midnight it gives you a morning boost.
Omg thank you, that makes sense, I wish the game would tell you more explicitly!! How did you find that out? Do you know what the bonus is?
@@JoshGamingGarden they are also creating a fix for the fertiliser due to be released in an upcoming patch.
Will there be a demo? I can't decide between switch or steam
There is no demo and won't be.
No the full game comes out on September 8th
I've preordered on steam 🤞
I feel like this game isn't worth the price for me. I think I'll wait since there are other games I really want more. I'll wait for sales. I feel like 60 bucks for incomplete features.
This so much and I really like the game too but with My Time at Sandrock and Moonstone Island coming out later I can wait on Fae Farm
It's $40 now though
Definitely waiting for this to go on sale. It looks good, but it doesn't look $60 good. I felt exactly the same way about Harvestella, which is why I also waited for that one to go on sale.
Yeah I don't think I will be getting this one. Doesn't seem worth it to me. Thanks as always for these honest reviews Josh! :)
Agreed. All this for $60?! Doesn't seem worth it especially when so many farming games are coming out and are so much better on all ends.
A new indie IP at $60 when there's already so much more competition is already a red flag + all the points you said above.
NOT a price reduction at all.
thanks for your review
I feel like I'm in the minority with all these comments about relationships; I'm prioritizing the animals tbh, but I really haven't seen MUCH about them which makes me sad. However, the flower breeding isn't something that many games use, but it's so much fun!!!
I'm hoping Cornucopia has some gene mechanics for their farm animals.
There are only 6 animals for launch but you're able to breed them for very cool colors which is probably why there's not many. There might be more in the Dlc to come though!!
@@Asunnixe Nice, thanks!!
I will say with breeding and selling animals for profit, be prepared to do a lot of running around. Your animals have to follow you to the npc to be sold or bred. And then when a new animal is born you need to walk the baby back to the barn. You kind of need to do this to get higher happiness and valuable animals.
if i play on steam can i still play that on my switch as well? or its like a whole new save file.
Cross progression is not available for launch currently
Any benefit to pre ordering it for switch? Other than getting it the release date.
Just the cozy cabin set that comes over farmer overalls and some furniture items!
@@Asunnixethanks!
my character can have sparkly fairy wings and do a twirly jump-fly? I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK
I just dont understand why they didnt advertise it as early access and sold it for 30 bucks. This all feels so sketchy.
do you have to use magic and postions? are you a witch?
No, the game never really calls you a witch. The towns people mostly recognize you as a farmer or adventurer. For the most part magic is used with tools once they're upgraded (mining/woodcutting/watering plants/digging/etc). Potions may be used as well and I'm speculating they're craftable eventually.
This is my kind or game. I can't wait!!
This seems amazing, I imagine they plan to add what’s lacking as the dlc.
can i remove the wings?
Imma get this game when it's at least 50% off, it looks gorgeous but the gameplay seems incredibly halfbaked
Yep ill do that too! Hopefully there’s sale holiday season in December
Apparently the switch version is the deluxe edition and will include 2 upcoming dlc’s so I’m also holding out, but I haven’t completely give up hope yet
Is this couch co-op ? Or online co-op only??
There's local co-op and online co-op with the switch, Steam I'm assuming only online. I'm playing through the story with a friend. One person hosts the world and friends can join after the tutorial. People joining will need to make a brand new character.
With switch and local play, there's lag when any player changes buildings or rooms. Also glitches seem to show up the longer you play.
I always love your honest opinion on games

Yeah....shows ur i.q. definitely
wonderful review! i am so excited to play. it looks great
It's worth to buy on PC
Is it worth £29.99 though?
I'd recommend only buying it when there's a sale. Not at the original full price.
So this game is sun haven with slightly more step but lacks the romance . I can live with that.
Seems like a big pass from me with how the relationships work in the game, like at this point farming sims are so competitive they really gotta be firing on all ends for me. I've still only done the beginning bits of like Sun Haven and while I love farming sims I don't have unlimited farming sim time or a lot.
you really that lonely that you need to make relationships in all your games? lmao
@@xRamadait’s a big selling point for farming games and cozy games. The feeling of living in a small town and having a rich community with good relationships is a selling point. No need for the insults.
@@xRamadaDon’t be a jerk. It takes less time and energy 🥰
I've heard Sun Haven relationships are very shallow too.
Can you romance/date/marry your co-op friend?
I like a lot visually about the game but the lack of personality to the characters is a big deterrent for me, I'll find it harder to connect to the world without it. I might still pick the game up in a sale, but not as enthused as I was before sadly :'(
The game is really expensive and the lack of festivals and relationships is a no for me!
I heard there's a tiny variety of furniture sadly
