Good information as always. I've tried auctions that never even received one bid so hesitant to give them another whirl. I need to get more confidence in my pricing on certain possible higher price cards as I learn more through resources like you and my experience. Thank you!!
I agree that in general auctions for postcards are not the best option. I'm now starting to do auctions for Santa postcards though, since Christmas is not too far off and if I have Santa postcards that I have not seen as sold before
Yeah Santas can do pretty good at auction! A couple years ago I listed quite a few at auction around Christmas and they all got multiple bids and sold really well.
@@mailseum Yes, I think these are the few cases where auctioning is a good strategy. The same with anthropomorphic Easter postcard auctions around late February / early March
my dog is a white teacup poodle and her name is rose but i call her baby cooch or green beanz cuz she is so tiny her little cooch is the size of a coffee bean but if i seen that id buy cooch mansion card and i often buy anything baby small white poodle
What do you think of putting a watermark on your eBay photos for RPPCs? Seems like a lot of work, but I suppose it might incentivize a sale for someone who might otherwise just copy the digital photo.
Collectors want the real thing, plus digital photos are typically VERY low quality because they come from other sellers copying someone’s eBay listing. I don’t think it affects sales at all, plus it takes extra time.
I agree most cards are long tail and auctions are not the greatest for that.

That was a great Wharton card from NJ. My inlaws lived there. It was a blue collar mining town at the time of your card
Solid advice Daniel. I've been successful lately with auctions myself

people frequently overbid on items at auction.
True, but only on the items where you have multiple bidders.

What bothers me are the ones that care so much about deterring image theft that they don't care enough about my being able to see the card!
Exactly, I don’t want to obscure any of the image. And I’ve seen the copycat sellers steal images with watermarks so it doesn’t even help that much
@@mailseum Thanks for the insights
I like your 'teachable moments'! Lol, but I listen.
