When I was at uni, one of my lectures on the game design course bragged ALOT that he had worked in the games industry but would never let on what game he worked on. We found out in the 2nd year that it was actually the pop idol/American Idol game. He left in year 3.
I wonder why he left in year 3. Seriously, I kinda wanna know.

Almost 18 months since this came out and it’s still one of, if not the best, WGE episodes of the triple jump era. I love it.
I remember being a young boy maybe around 11 - 12 and going to Walmart with my gift cards from the holidays and asking the worker to get this out of the locked case for me. That day I learned the true feeling of shame.
James is absolutely killing it with the edits, the American Idol fire killed me.

Surprise twist: BEGIMOPZ looks so uncomfortable because he has the bomb in his car. He didn't win in the end and murdered every one in a five block radius. A dark day for the country of Idol.

Had this for my SP growing up (It was on clearance so I was happy). Spent hours giggling over the pitch shifting with my brother.

It's a shame everyone in this game died, but at least we can all find peace in the fact that they will live on forever in one of the best games of all time.

I think I might be the only person to audition for Pop Idol with a collapsed lung! Hahaha! I went into hospital for a couple of months not long after when my other lung collapsed and I needed major surgery. This was in 2003 when Michelle McManus won it. They didn't say I was bad. They just said not what we are looking for and to go back next year. Pretty fun experience nonetheless.

I remember having the demo of this game on a game demo disc from a magazine (still can't believe those existed). Gives me a confusing mix of nostalgia and frustration that I was never able to play the full game at the time.

This game is so awesomely "plan 9 from outer space" BAD that I wish I got it back in the day. This game is perfect with a bunch of drunk friends taking turns playing.

Even though this is a non-rhythmn rhythmn game, this is probably where I developed my love of rhythmn games early on (like the Vocaloid/Hatsune Miku series or the Deemo series) lmao. I remember playing Pop Idol as a kid because England, but it was very much a carbon copy of this game just under a different title.
