      Two thousand years ago Flavius Josephus, Gaius Solinus and Herodotus, all famous ancient historians of different nations once documented a winged serpent, called the Ophies, which at that time occupied all of North Africa from Egypt to the Iberian peninsula. They were small, about the same size as this lizard. They had wings of a bat and a venom that could kill a man so fast he died before feeling any pain. They were a ferocious creature that infested the Arabian spice groves in such numbers that the farmers would have to smoke them out with fires set below the trees. Their only known predator was the sacred Ibis bird, an invasive species likely introduced to the region to combat the infestations. As a result the ibis bird remains highly revered in Egypt to this day. The entire habitat of the winged serpent was in that of the trees leaving the possibility of fossilized remains minimal. For that matter the requirements for fossilization are rarely normally met for most creatures. In this case their remains would have been easily reclaimed by the forces of nature removing all traces of their existence. New species of creatures are discovered every day. Its reasonable to assume that there have been hundreds perhaps thousands of creatures that have come and gone due to the natural order of things, or interference from man, which have disappeared without mankind even taking notice of their existence.

    Proof all our ancient books depicting large dragons in ancient times could well be more factual than people want to believe.

    • @ectheleon11
      @ectheleon11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      no... just... No.
      Gravity, bone density, aerodynamics, there were limits on the size of what CAN fly. There were huge Teradactyls but they were hollow boned and extremely light (think bald eagle)
      The reason our ancestors had "dragon" mythology. is because they would uncover bones like that of a Triceratops and not know wtf it is... and because of the shape of its skull and body
      Ever wanna know why we have mythology on cyclops? go look at the pygmy mammoth skull, which is found on the islands in Greece. You'll never wonder why they had Cyclops in their lore and why that shit spread again.

      As much as I'd love for dragons to be roaming around out there, a tiny lizard "falling with style" (as Toy Story puts it) is not proof of giant behemoths lifting themselves off the ground somehow

    • @chaosinabox2601
      @chaosinabox2601 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@ectheleon11 Not true. Many anthropologists believe that there very well could have been dragons that existed at one point, since many cultures have many similar experiences with such lore. But no archaeologists have discovered any fossils. They think it’s very possible that dragons had hollow bones, which obviously had allowed for flight. And hollow bones don’t fossilize very easily, only in perfect conditions.

    One may wonder how this lizard evolved to have wings. It’s fascinating to even think of it. It simply started from a single wish, that this wizard wished it had wings so that it could make these leaps from the trees. The power of wish is underestimated

    • @p4nd4mnium
      @p4nd4mnium ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not really how evolution works. Thousands of these lizards ancestors had to die to get to this point until one was lucky enough to be born with this mutation. It survived amongst all the others and now its its own species. In a nutshell.

    huh... maybe that's how people invented dragons. imagine seeing this above you between trees. you don't know what it is and that it's small and it's too fast for your brain to process and analyze it, so your vision tricks you into thinking that it's a giant thing far away in the sky. and boom, "i saw something like a giant lizard with wings flying high in the sky today", "yeah, me too, i wonder what it is", and then there's this one Jerry guy says "it's actually a monster, you know, it can breathe fire and all that, it's very dangerous" and then people are like "holy sh*t, we have to tell others". and boom - dragons.
