I have a 2008 TL, and when it was in the shop, the dealer gave me a brand new TLX loaner. I couldn't wait to get my TL back. I'm in love with this car.
@@RomaneMaticaliseGordon it wasn't about speed. I dont drive that fast. It was comfort. You sink into my car...it hugs you. The TLX was much stiffer. The seating as well as the ride. When I returned it, you know how they try to feel you out about "upgrading" and buying one...I said no thanks. I told him my TL rides nicer than this. I thought maybe it was stiff just because it was a new car, but he said they're made like that whereas the TL is made for touring. You could drive my TL cross country and it's like sitting in a recliner.
@Juan Medina this is my 2nd TL. I had a 2006 also, but upgraded to this one because of the additional features.i just love this car. Its comfortable, sporty, responsive, sleek...the TLX is much stiffer ride.
OMG thank you so much for this post. It's the exact color as mine and year. I am in LOVE with my TL Type S and I am putting this in my Acura playlist. The most handsome car on the road.
I always have maxima manuals as my beater, I almost got 1 of these. The best sporty sedan ive ever driven...no question. IMO the 2010-1012 are the GOATS...Manual of course.
What a beautiful car! Really reliable, excellent fit and finish, and it holds its value very well. Infiniti tends to depreciate more than Acura TL. I have to say, Infiniti G35 or the G37 feels more German than Acura TL. Acura TL comes with the reverse tilt mirror option where the infiti wont get that option at all. However, in regards of the better driving characteristic i would go with the G35 or G37. FYI, I own a 2005 Acura TL.
Agreed 100%!!! I work for an auto auction and BMW sell for peanuts! an 06' Mercedes benz c55 AMG with 80K sold for $12,400 an 07 type-S TL will sell for 14K and dealers will fight for it! Nothing against Euros as I own a SAAB 9-3 that I picked up at my auction for 1200.00 with only 73K on it. European cars take a bath the second they leave the lot with the exception of the VW R32 most don't hold value
I just bought the 6-speed version of this car in silver with only 95K miles did a major service on it and replaced the engine mounts and It's a kick ass car
5.8 for this test...you can tell he's shifting it manually by the weight transfer and sounds between shifts. Car and Driver got 5.5 sec on an '08. MW isn't usually the most aggressive when it comes to these tests, but I pay more attention to 5-60 times because that's a better reflection of how it will perform in real world driving unless you want to pay for a new clutch every 10k and risk destroying the shift linkage, etc. It's 5-60 is 5.8 according to C&D. The 5AT is likely in the low 6's
3rd gen was awesome. 4th gen was also pretty good and felt more inclined towards luxury. TLX is cool but no manual :\ I've driven gen 2 3 and 4. It was a great ride but I'm sad to see that TL is now discontinued
I still laugh whenever I hear complaints of the TL's "horrible" torque steer: My '95 Mitsu Eclipse GS-T 5-spd (2900 lbs and 210 HP) that I drove daily for 5 years would literally yank the steering wheel in your hands headed for the weeds if you launched when the front wheels weren't perfectly straight...compared to that it's virtually nonexistent on the Acura.
This generation, Tl has a better shifter and much better interior compared to the G35, making it imo more fun to driver regardless of FWD, and more better value. You can’t compare this gen to the g37 since that gen started in 2008 the end of the TL
Amen Here also. But MRP. 2007 MRP TL Type-S 245/35/19" Full A-Spec with XLR8 Quads. GO ACURAZINE. Wait until I install a custom SH-AWD system with a Supercharger
I've had my 08 Type S for a year now. The car is a modern classic and will go down with the Integra and Legend as the golden age of Acura. I'm not so sure about their new cars. None of them have the head-turning appeal my black Type S has. Its just a beautiful damn car and was a complete bargain at 6k. I wouldn't buy German after 100k miles but Honda I trust. The Brembos are cool but costly to replace. My biggest gripe is how insanely difficult it is to replace the 100 dollar HID headlights. Despite all that, a year later and it still has me turning around to look at it in the parking lot when i walk away.
While TL looks gorgeous, I wouldn't buy a FWD next RWD infiniti especially when you can get the coupe with infiniti. As much as I love tl, I have to say the infiniti is one step ahead, in terms of handling, styling, confort, and you can put much more power with RWD than FWD.
11 years later and its still the best Acura sedan ever created.
💯
You can say that again still looks better than most cars today
No buddy. That's the Acura legend, was game changing. Rated better then the 5 series of that time.
AGREED.
@@15juliop15 I got the Legend when the 04 was new... a 91 LS MT sedan black in black to be exact.
BEST TL EVER
Until now
Over 365k on wife's 04 TL with no major problems and STILL GOING STRONG!!!
“Preach my brother, preach!”
I had a 2004 that got up to 366,000 before I sold it to buy a 2007 TL type S . Best car I ever had .
Now over 396k and climbing. I do need to fix an oil leak but she's still rolling!
I just bought a 07 TL with 83k miles!! basically new! LOL
Really? Is it on the original transmission at 365k miles?
One of the most attractive cars ever made. Hope they do it again. TLX looks pretty good.
eric black it's slow

SweetCincy1 They probably loaned you a 4 cylinder TLX. The v6 TLX is actually quicker than the Type S

Loving my 07 Kinetic Blue Pearl type s.
Best car they ever made. In fact my dad owned one. I was only 10 and thought the car was cool...just wished he would have kept it longer
I have a 08 base model with 35k miles only. Looking to drive it forever

So happy to have my own beside my frs :)
Two great cars!!!
and then Acura failed again got rid of the Type-S again and started making ugly crap. They always seem to ruin a good thing
After seeing the 4th gen modded and tricked out a bit I'm starting to like them. I wouldn't mind owning a SH-AWD 6-speed
ice cold 09 TL back end. What were they thinking!? The TSX in that year and newer is better looking!
I wouldn't say ALWAYS. But they definitely took a small step back with the next gen
@mexicansniper1 That's part of the reason I love the car. When people see it they don't expect it to move like it does.
The 97 TL 2.5 quiet ,very smooth power this car rides better than a Silver Shadow R/R driven both
A friend of mine has this car. I think it's sick (in a good way)!
Best car 🚗 tl type s and best looking car in the street
I still laugh whenever I hear complaints of the TL's "horrible" torque steer: My '95 Mitsu Eclipse GS-T 5-spd (2900 lbs and 210 HP) that I drove daily for 5 years would literally yank the steering wheel in your hands headed for the weeds if you launched when the front wheels weren't perfectly straight...compared to that it's virtually nonexistent on the Acura.
BTW my next cars will be an older TL or MDX
I own an 07 6 Speed Manual This car is the ultimate daily driver
The tl type s is a legend...see what I did there...
Best TL ever made. 😎👌
Cassette player?!?!?!?! Now I understand why my 2007 Accord didn't come with Bluetooth, USB, or even aux input!!!
Lol

Was the 0 to 60 time the 6speed or automatic time?
What is the quarter mile on this car?
Haha the cooler at 3:24 sssoooo funny!
Still best car
Still better looking car than the "new" TLX Type-S. 4200+lbs yeah no thanks
@coolblue1922 fully loaded accord doesn't have this hip hop look!
was that 5.8 on the auto or stick? wats the autos 0-60?
Crazy to see these cars reviewed in the 80s and 90s would stop at 100-112 feet and this "luxury" car can't match that.
a true sleeper on the road. tune it up and you'll get a bad ass tl type-s on the road.
@xxnissansilviaxx I think the 5.8 for Auto and 5.5 for MT.
mine has too much torque steer with the regular motor type s is not necessary
sooo much better looking than accord!!
And now a 16 year old bought one for 1,000$
@jose619 diaz actually no I’m in Ohio it has no body damage no knock and it still drives and the engine is strong and healthy !

Definitely one of the best looking cars ever built.
It's kind of weird that the S seems to have the same 0-60 time as the base.
I had an 06 with just over 100,000, that did 0-60 in 5.7. And it was an automatic.
Nice!!!! I really like those MDX's. I'm trading my TSX for a ILX this year...wish me luck!
I wouldn't. TSX is better. The newer ILX isn't so bad buy the first gen was little more than a Civic with leather.
There no quarter mile time only a 0-60mph
U are soooooo wrong!!!!!!!! Acura is one of the best to buy used....The BMW is the one you should be wary of.........
And a .....
manual🤘
What's a manual?
Nice car, but no ventilated seats equals no buy for me.
fuck gayfinity my 07 type s auto walks 6 speed g35 coupe

129 feet 60-0?? Ha! An 07 G35 sport sedan does it in 110, and is faster even with an automatic..
And its a Nissan.
Yeah, I was stuck between the G or TL but the G35x doesn't come with a manual. And since I live in the northeast I had to either get FWD or AWD.
And from what I seen most G35's with automatics loses to manual TL-S's
I think infiniti g35 and especially g37 is out of tls league.
I think we can see who the real but hurt fan boys are. Your comment says it all
Acura quality is way over rated.research this car before buying used....
180k miles and 11 years later and mine still goes strong
Mine is at 133k and drives like a dream.
my 04 base model is at 208k with really shoddy maintenance from previous owners and still chugging along. this aged poorly
My 04 went 266k and still drove great when i totaled it. Currentlyown a type s with 246k
