I was very disappointed that Vanya didn't die. I found the mopey, self-pitying character irritating (probably moreso because I find the actor irritating. At least I hoped the rest of the crew realized she needed to stopped permanently by season 2. Without going into spoilers let's just say the Academy's patience and devotion to her apparently goes to bizarre extremes.
You dont seem to see this. Umbrella Academy is primarily about themes of origin and family. They are a dysfunctional but loving family. You dont quit on family. Vanya was self-pitying because she was brain washed into thinking so. Ifs actually incredible acting if you see her evolution of the pale, insecure and self doubting girl at the beginning and then the confident, powerful but hateful monster at the end. To me it seems as if you have a bias against the actor like you said and let that bleed into judging the fictional character being played on screen.
the handler stashed her case in the vent, they show a quick shot of it and then hazel is holding it when they disappear.

Glad to hear you point out just how great of an actor (Aidan Gallagher) Number Five is. He does a tremendous job in season 2 as well.

Killing Pogo was such a bummer but it definitely makes way budget wise for more things in the future
