Thanks for this video. I also had no idea about the filter in the reservoir. I did the bleach cleaning, but there seemed to be a little sliminess in the reservoir so I went ahead and did the vinegar cleaning as well. Going to let it sit in there for a while before flushing, then should be good to go.
Thank you! I'm setting up my machine and NOWHERE in the instructions does it show me where to find that dinky filter 🤦🏻♀️. I need the visual, not written instructions. I appreciate this video!!
I am looking for directions on how to clean the inside pipes of my GE Opal Ice Maker. I have these pipe cleaner things that i use to clean my reusable straws and I discovered that i can run them into some of the line that runs from the side tank to the well. When I did this, I honestly wanted to throw the whole machine away! I have gotten as much as I can, but really want to get the entire system cleaned. HELP!!
Great video. Mine was much worse. I disassembled the machine and there was a substantial amount of hard water and debris in all the lines. After cleaning them all out to remove all the hard water it’s working like new again. It went from about 2 cups a day to filling the bin in a couple of hours. My water hardness is terrible.
My power button does not turn on when pushed…But I can push the clean button and then both lights come on…Power and Clean…If I push the clean it cleans…Once I push the clean button to stop it shuts off my machine…Still not able to turn on just the power button…Any advice? It’s only been used a hand full of times… Thanks in advance ☀️
after reading the instructions this video was necessary to actually understand what to do. thanks!!!!

How long does the cleaning hold button blink after 1st cleaning ?

question: after use and if it might be days before using again...should you drain it of all water?
I love your pup, he/she is getting his sleep on🤣🤣🥰😍😘

Is it best to use distilled water in the Opal to extend the longevity of the ice maker, to prevent mold or sludge from developing?

Have you found a video to take it apart? I need to do that, but would like to follow along. Thanks!
Any videos on descaling ?
I'm wondering the same. I haven't been able to find one.
Does anyone know what is wrong with the machine if the chute water hose doesn't empty like seen in the video? My chute hose barely trickles.

Mine does not “water fall” like that. 3:47
Great explanation! Thank you 😊
For some reason my machine has a flashing light under cleaning. Any idea why?
Can you do the descaling?
What if I hold the button, and the machine doesn't go into clean mode?
I just recently found out the screen actually opens on the line in the middle so you can clean inside of that as well!
Mine is screeching like a cat and the cleaning button is not lit so I don’t think cleaning is the problem. Wish I knew what it was!
Same here!
Call GE. The have a department dedicated to the Opal. They will help you troubleshoot and replace it if necessary
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you it worked
This is the same video you did about unboxing. Where’s the descaling?
I see you are using tap water, and I thought we were to use either distilled or filtered water. any thoughts? Anyone?
He might have a reverse osmosis system under our he could have a filter on his water line
Instructions say that for descaling has to be 18 hours of the vinegar sitting in the unit. Is that really necessary? That’s such a long time.
Thank you!
Uno mister GUYS like you need more credit ,thank you 😊
Disliked, because there is no descaling video.
Maybe you would expect descaling if the title said “How to clean and descale…”
