    Actually this is probably one of the best examples of party line thinking on the net. Lady talks about doing research and finding the facts, then flat out says the results wouldn't change her mind regardless. America in a nutshell right now.

      100% this. Turns out black folks and white folks have more in common than they realise. There's a whole lot of them that won't believe the truth even if it slaps them in the face, if it means they need to re-evaluate a stance they've taken.

    The problem with the "do your own research" crowd is that they find sources that support their already-formed opinions, disregard everything that doesn't, and then call that "research". Actual research is more than a simple Google search and checking your favorite news outlet.

    • @dougmccallum878
      @dougmccallum878 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And I think they need to know how to vet the sources that led them to form those ideas. From the people I know in the cult, sources such as OANN, RSBN, Breitbart and ZeroHedge are reliable sites to check the veracity of what they hear on Fox. So I'm pretty sure a large number have no interest in finding out what their hero is really made of.

    • @justin___
      @justin___ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +413

      Actual research is really hard and really exhausting and you have to _constantly_ push against confirmation bias. The best way to do it is to "pair research" with someone who disagrees with you.

      I mean it would help if they would rule out naturopaths as doctors in their research and stick to actual scientific journals. But, then they'd have to learn to read scientific jargon and that's too much for most who aren't already trained in the field.

    • @GospelProgressionsUniversity

      @@justin___Agreed. No one is out there really searching for information that directly opposes a deep emotional view on an issue from some article or report written by a stranger. Ideas are not only challenged but heard when people can be in a face to face set up where people can respectfully discuss opposing views. Unfortunately, that’s rarely if ever really done today because it’s easier for people to be in a filter bubble and form an opinion based on superficial convenient sound bites that social media has let run amuck.

How is it that black people are moving from the democratic states like ny, California, detroit MI, chicago Illinois etc. to go live in republican states like ga. Texas florida etc for a "better life" but when they get here, they're still voting for democrati? Why would you vote democrat to possibly turn the republican state into democrat, which is the very thing you ran from to begin with. Ive been asking this question ever since the migration started.

      As a white woman who grew up in a Pennsylvania Democrat family and was 17 during the 1980 election, I saw the struggle it was for my family to cross party lines and become Reagan Democrats. My Mother in Law firmly believed Democrats were the "party of the little guy" in spite of clear policies that hurt little people.
      Now the parties of even 20 years ago are not the same parties. If we divide the political spectrum equally between right, left and center, 20 years ago, party leadership on both sides would have been in that center but close to the edges. Coming of age under Reagan in a Democrat home, I have always tested center right on the political spectrum. Most of the Black Americans I have met are actually center left. My experience traveling is that the places named as migration locations are more centrist to begin with or the Democrats, at least, are . There is also the fact that old habits die hard.
      Honestly, I would prefer most 80's and 90's Democrats to today's Republicans. Trump and Kennedy are old school Democrats and therefore centrist by today's standards which explains their popularity.

      The cities and states you listed are places that are insanely expensive to live in, especially when it comes to housing. The large amounts of people moving is most likely due to living expenses as opposed to political views, which is something people regardless of color have been doing for years now due to unreasonably high housing prices, so if they were democratic before the move, their location isn’t going to change their political view (believe it or not, Texas and Florida have democratic voters living there, living in those states does not mean you are required to be a republican voter)

It’s crazy how people are this dumb and lazy that they’ll believe anything when we have resources like the internet to look at multiple sources. People forget that TV and social media are based off ratings and what the people want to see because that affects their revenue. Search browsers get income off what’s searched the most so they’re able to show more truth without twisting it like media outlets who only go off what they want to push for ratings.

People might prefer to vote for another candidate, but because they are scared of red or blue winning, they feel compelled to vote the opposite to avoid a "spoiler vote."
      A big step toward fixing this would be nationally implementing ranked choice voting or similar (Maine has already done this), where you can vote for multiple candidates ranked from your favorite down, so that the "spoiler effect" and people voting out of fear is neutralized.
