    The actual controversy is sanctuary city being an abuse of power of the city to refuse to comply with existing laws. It's dangerous for cities to have the power to just ignore state and federal laws for something clearly that's in the jurisdiction of the federal government ...immigration in this case but it can be anything like federal taxes.... just imagine a city just decide to say we don't want to pay federal taxes anymore

That's a criminal act, and shielding or harboring them away from the mechanisms of apprehension by the lawful authorities is itself a crime in statutory law involving almost every other crime (e.g., kidnapping, murder, robbery, burglary, fraud, etc.).

    Immigration policy needs reform, politicians know this but are too afraid to do anything because of losing votes. The US has a need for labor, but there is no easy way to apply for a temporary work visa to come over and do this work. This not helpful to either businesses, farms, construction or hotel industry etc. that need workers because Americans will not do the work.
