This week we explore two areas of study having to do with the church.
Ecclesiology is the study of the church.
Missiology is the study of the mission of the church.
Ecclesiology is where we get our understanding of the differences between the various denominations. Depending on your interpretation of scripture (and church history), you will have different ideas of how the church should be structured. Anglicans and Roman Catholics have a very top-down ecclesial model. Congregationalist churches are more independent and autonomous. Ecclesiology influences how we think the church should be organized.
Missiology, on the other hand, is the study of the mission of the church. This incorporates local, nationwide and worldwide mission work. Your church's view of missions work is directly influenced by their missiological understanding. In my opinion, the mission of the church, when done properly, involves city, state, nation and foreign fields as the central purpose of the church.
    Thanks for watching this week!
And remember, theology doesn't always have to be difficult, it is simply the study of who God is.
