My FIRST time riding a MOTORBIKE (In VIETNAM...🇻🇳)

- Our next big challenge - Motorbikes through Vietnam! Today - The Ha Giang Loop! After seeing the Top Gear Vietnam special we HAD to give it a go - Join us as we undertake Vietnam from the North (Hanoi) to the South (Ho Chi Min) and all there is to discover in between!
We'll take you from beginning to end as we rent motorbikes, swap motorbikes, talk about prices and create a mind blowing route fit for a king (even though we only have one month!)
This is a travel challenge we've dreamed of doing for such a long time and we're absolutely buzzing to be back on the road and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones! In episode one we'll be taking you around the Ha Giang loop - a popular route in the far northern part of Vietnam where the scenery will blow your chops off!
So strap in lads... it's going to be a wild ride!

this is sooo exciting! guys, i just did the same thing, but Ho Chi Minh to Hanoi, last month. Avoid the coast down south, it's too busy with trucks and many many police controls, they can be a bit sketchy. PLUS, the mountains following the border down to Ho Chi Minh are insanely gorgeous, and the little villages very remote and special!

But I'm planning a trip to either Vietnam or Thailand for 1 month, and I really am confused about which one will be more fun for me.
- I'm not into clubs, parties, bars, nightlife, restaurants, chilling 24/7 on the beach, etc.
- I'm into tropical landscapes, nature, attractions, sea, ziplines, water sports, animals, diving (open to fill types of attractions, and maybe even a little extreme, such as diving with sharks and such), etc.
Which one you think will be better for me?
"Doing this for everybody that's got anxiety that wants to try to beat it" --- you go girl. I have wicked anxiety and you are such an inspiration. Confirming what I already wanted to believe...anxiety is a nuisance, but doesn't have to hold you back when it's worth facing it to do something.
Think this is probably the first of your challenges we are watching in real time. Feels cool as we discovered your channel through the mongol rally series and its got that vibe to it for sure! My cheeks are hurting from smiling and laughing so much watching this; so jealous and so proud of all of you. I can't help but imagine that at the end of this adventure Aimee will be riding wheelies down the road filled with so much confidence. Driving bikes for the first time in the type of traffic found in Hanoi is truly a trial by fire 🔥
Nice job everyone. My wife and I did a Vespa tour in Italy recently with the thought that we would each take turns driving or have our own to drive. When we were doing the little test drives before starting out Karen did not feel like she could safely drive one since she had never driven anything like it and it seemed like her hands wanted to do the opposite of what was necessary. So I drove and it was more natural for me since I had a motor bike growing up and she enjoyed riding behind. So kudos to you Aimee for even taking all this on. You have inspired lessons in the future though. Blessings for a smooth, safe, and fun journey.
I'm so proud of Amy during this. From coming face to face with her anxiety and being able to push it away, to the point where she can say shes glad she did it and actively enjoying the adventure. I know it's a battle. But you did amazing. Thank you for doing this for all of us.

Aimee, I can’t imagine what hope and encouragement you provide for those living with anxiety. You provide such an example of knowing when to push yourself and when to be gentle with yourself. Sometimes it’s super hard and often it’s messy but you do it and it makes every one of your adventures all the more brilliant. I’ll never see Vietnam, not because of anxiety but because I do NOT do humidity EVER, so this was such great fun to see. I must admit however, this first day has me exhausted so I’m gonna have a sleep on my SOFT mattress.
Literally did this in 2018 and it was one of our best trips ever!!! Vietnam is gorgeous! 🤩

You got this Aimee! The fact that you push through your anxiety is so inspiring. I started motorcycle riding 4 years ago at 43 yrs old. I get anxiety too, though it doesn’t affect me as greatly as yours, and I find riding my motorcycle clears my head of everything else.
10 years almost to the day that we completed the same trip, so weird seeing it all again. I remember visiting the same motorbike shed, back then they didn't hire bikes that I remember of and ended up buying a Suzuki from another place. Glad to see that you brought gloves, I didn't understand till a few days in and my hands looked like roast chicken 😳.
Vietnam, was probably one of the best adventures of my life, thanks for bringing it all back.
So much to see but hope you get to see and spend time out at sea in Halon Bay and perhaps try some climbing or just visit the floating villages. Have fun.

I travelled from HCM City to Hanoi on a motorbike back in 2018 whilst travelling in South East Asia. I think it was the best experience of my life. Great memories of the interactions with the people there and a completely different way to see a country. 10/10 would recommend and might even do again. Looking forward to the rest of this series, enjoy!

You guys are already REALLY making me miss Vietnam with this series! Lived there for a year. Super cheap, amazing nature, incredible food..and those super hard beds! 😂 Vietnam was actually the place that made me fall in love with hard beds! Had them in our apartment, and once we got used to em', we had the best sleeps. Good for your back. 🛌
Only thing I'd say is I hope you're all super careful with those bikes. Wasn't even in Vietnam for a week, and drove by an motorcycle accident- guys head was cracked open like a watermelon over the highway. 😬

My father and I are doing is in November (except south to north), and I love watching channels like this to get me hyped up. We're then continuing Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand after, all on bikes as well. I already love yalls energy.
Check out Paddy Doyle's video as he's doing the northern portion now (he's doing the whole country as he's allocated 2-3 months for Vietnam) and putting out AMAZING videos from there. Ride with Gabi is doing the southern portion of Vietnam.

Please remember that in this season in Vietnam it usually rains heavily after 4pm and lasts about 30 minutes, please be safe
Most people in Vietnam use locomotives, so there will be a lot of traffic around 7:00 am and 4:00 pm every day, you can avoid this period

So excited for you and this adventure!! You’re doing great! In larger cities, temples are a great source for vegetarian food. Temples will either sell good or look for restaurants nearby!
