Hey Shaun, I'm a contractor here in Texas, just north of Dallas. If your da needs help with the barn or house, send me a plane ticket! All I need is a room, food, and a few pounds in my pocket to get essentials, and I'd be more than happy to help him out. Maybe get it done quicker than 5 years. lol. Take care and Slainte mhath!
That is a MASSIVE barn. I've seen buildings like that in Germany and the Netherlands that were double use- house and barn in one, separated by a wall. The livestock basically generated heat during the winter.
Oh my, Shaun, this chapter of your life I will follow closely! Beautiful video of your Islands and Highlands experiences with your family! And the cats are gorgeous 😍 ❤️!
@@shaunvlog Wow Shaun, the house renovation has come a long way since your last update on it. It's a shame though that the huge old tree had to be cut down, but Iguess it was in the way of the fence installation. Your parents could possibly turn the barn into a rental property eventually, and perhaps the cabins they're planning for the clearing as well; it'd be good income for them. The cats are so pretty and they made me smile. The Highlands are so very beautiful. I'm putting Scotland 🏴 on my bucket list of places I want to go and see before I kick the aforementioned bucket. I loved the night sky footage. Awe inspiring sight! Greetings from the eastern part of North Carolina! Btw, I loved the sheep toilet tissue holder! What a clever idea!
Rebuilt a barn with dad 40 years ago. 1300 square feet of living space in a 8000 square foot barn . Years of work . The changes and changes again. Lots of hard work.our barn was over 135 years old. . Just have fun and enjoy it . From western ny, usa.
Beautiful countryside. I would convert only half of the barn for either full time rental/vacation rental and keep other half for storage of tools, mowers, equipment.
You could do a video of a trip to the Highlands all the time because it never gets old! Thank you. Seeing the stars...so Clear and Bright. Watching the satellites too! I look forward to seeing more trips. Your dads place is coming together. So much work but they are getting it done. I can't wait for the next video.
The last I'd seen of your folks' house, they'd only finished a couple of rooms! Now they're moving on to the barn and garden! (Or is it that they're taking advantage of the fine weather to do the outside work?) I'll definitely follow along! (And he's not chonky....he's "extra floofy" 😄 And ye're nae but furniture tae him! 😄)
Oh my gosh!!!! I love up where your parents live. I would be outside every night just looking up at that beautiful sky!! It so reminds me of the sky in west Texas. No light pollution so you really were able to enjoy it. Oh how I miss that. I love your videos so much, thank you for sharing.
Such a beautiful area your family lives in, Shaun! My mother's ancestors came from the highlands, settled in the Carolinas, then migrated south to Mississippi, west toward California and as far north as Canada. But there's just something about the highlands of Scotland that calls to my heart. Hoping to visit sometime in the next 2 years or so, to do some geneology research and just explore.😊
8:45. Shaun, what did your father do as a career for most of his life? These are some MAJOR renovations, building, & land clearing projects. Was he a carpenter/mason/construction worker? This is a project that someone your age or younger would endeavor in not someone entering their early 60s--hahaha. Just wow. Impressive!
Those narrow stairs remind me of seeing the same in old houses. Those were the servants’ stairs. The gentry women’s large skirts wouldn’t have fit in the stairwell.
The drive reminded me of the walking the West Highland Way in 2019. Wonderful experience and beautiful part of the world. Looked up Glencoe and saw that it was pretty close to Kinlochleven, one of the towns on the West Highland Way.
What a lovely area! Thanks for this series, Shaun. You never know what you might learn from one of Shaun's vids. One of the commenters mentioned that the village is Stronian which sounded familiar to me so I googled it. Learned that the element Stronium was first discovered and mined there in the 18th century and was named after the village.
What a wonderful video! Such amazing scenery! Your parents have a little bit of heaven to live in. The cats and dogs are so cute. I love keeping up with the space station. It's so cool to see it fly over. I also follow meteor showers. Love watching them. Thanks for sharing this with us Shaun. Take care...have a great week...and God bless!
That was your phone!!?? I was thinking that the picture quality was very very good as I was watching. Maybe I'm a neophyte when it comes to modern videography. Or it could be that round thing in the sky you were talking about. Lovely, lovely and enjoyable. Thanks!
Hi Shaun, are your Dad and George South African. And if so have you been to South Africa? I live in Cape Town, it’s by far the best place in South Africa to visit. Can’t wait to see what or who took the peanut butter. 🏴🏴🏴
A cat could be light as a feather until they stand on you and they somehow become 10X heavier, with all their weight concentrated on their cute wee paws.
Be careful charging your Tesla in older homes! Make sure they don't have aluminum wiring as it can overheat while charging electric cars and cause property damage xx
In the United States you are not allowed to convert a barn; that was used for stock, into a house. It's believed that it would be impossible to get all the waste out of the structure that could be harmful for habitation.
AS ALWAYS AMAZING VIEWS SHAUN AND UP NORTHERN AND NORTH WESTERN US YOU GET THE MARTENS AND BEARS N MOUNTAIN LIONS WITH A WEEE SMATTERING OF WOLVES 😳 IT STILL AMAZES ME BEING IN A VERY QUIET RURAL SETTING AS THAT LOOKING UP TO THE STARS HOW INFINITELY SMALL WE REALLY ARE , TELL ROGER A WEEE BIT OF DYNAMITE AND THAT STUMP WILL VANISH🤪 🤣🤣 , YAA THE AMERICAN STUMP REMOVER, TAKE CARE BROTHER 🤘

Oh my. Envy has entered my heart. There is a great deal of work ahead, but so much history and solidity to the endeavor. Amazing views.

Good advice - there’s a lot of stuff needing stored

Love this 😍 strontian is our favourite place in Scotland, such a beautiful and quiet area. And the drive through glencoe 👌 stunning!
I would totally rent that Barn as an Airbnb! As long as you threw in being able to play with the cats!
What a beautiful place!! Just loved it! Great video!
Love the kitties and dogs, flowers and all the stuff outside. So nice there.

Thank you Robin. Unfortunately the weather means days looking at the stars are limited, but I go out whenever it’s clear 😊

They are indeed - both from Durban. I lived there as a kid but don’t remember much
@@shaunvlog does this mean your mum whips up some bunny chow now and then? I've always wanted to try it
@@LindaC616 nah, my mum's Scottish and my dad's the worst cook in the world lol

I’m not an expert on these things, but would older houses not be more apt to have copper wiring. Just asking.
Can I move into it when you are done? :)
Shaun.. por favor, ative a legenda dos teus vídeos 🙏 meu inglês é péssimo 🤦♀️
Sim vou fazer, mas TH-cam precisa um tempo pra processar

he's my godfather - my folks best friend and business partner
@@shaunvlog It looked like a lovely day in the highlands. LOVE that barn.
Shaun when last did you all have a Braai and a few beers?
